Why would you even want to play on a private server? With EVE of all things? EDIT: Answer is no. |

Mali Talvanen wrote:Private server doesn't mean it is a solo server. I can play with friends or with people who want the same stuff from the game as myself. Besides those 2 reasons I mentioned, I would also like to have 'a fresh start'. Meaning clean world with just BP and rookie ships. Atm I am always having a feeling about eve, like i joined when the party is already over. Even in the economy part anywhere you go, everything is already claimed, divided, owned by someone. Market is overflooded. Guess I have just missed my time in this game.
The main reason we don't want to an EVE private server is that anyone close to the GM/admin can have full sway on the game. Like say I have a private server and I got RL ganked by my wife because she got ganked in her Mackinaw for afk mining and demanded I give her some QA shield extenders. If I gave her the said modules it won't be fair for the other players.
Also if you want something in eve and someone is already sitting on it you better get off your station undock and shoot them to get it. That's how I get my LP in FW. Evict the other guy from the plex. |

The industry changes are helping to address that and put all players on a more equal footing. Well, yes I agree to some extent and I know what you mean. But it is just a general feeling, do not really know how to explain that. When you come to play game that is still is Beta for example, the whole world is still new and everyone is on the same level. Something like that, not sure if I can make myself clear on this, it is just a general 'feel' in the game So in other words you don't want to exert effort to compete with other players who made the effort to be better in the same game as you are? |

When did I say that? I said that i like to start games at the same level with other players, not come into the game when everyone has already played for 5 years, have numerous skills, etc. But most of all it is the market, everything you can think of had already been invented and mass produced. Just not very interesting to play to be honest. That's like real life you know. The moment you were born somebody already solved this and that. It's not like everyone has to reinvent the wheel and be at the stone age the moment you were born.
Remember what CCP said "EVE is real". |

A private server of EVE would be terrible as the stories that EVE is about wouldn't exist. The economy wouldn't existence (the bit you like - building stuff).
Your other arguments just don't stand up to scrutiny because you don't actually know what makes EVE tick. Well eve is really the same as every other game around. And i am not saying that everyone have to move en masse to a private server. The official server will continue as it is with little change I guess, so do not know how it concerns the story you mentioned. And yes, economy would exist as long as there are at least several players there. So I guess dying in WoW means you permanently lose some of your equipment and the remaining ones can be looted by other players for theirs to keep forever until it gets destroyed? Show me another MMO that is more that 10 years old that actually functions like EVE? |

Stay away from WoW, game died at the end of the Wrath expansion. Peak was Burning Crusade. That game will soon be Hello Kitty Online for the next expansion. (After Draenor.) That seems to be the trend.
Since I quit what I had been playing for several years I had been looking for a game with a good economy/trading, crafting/building as well. Actually how i found eve was that it had always popped up in all the searches as a best crafting system game. I really like economy and science in here and that it actually is very realistic and not cartoony like in other games. marketplace is practically like a rl marketplace. Pvp is a problem for me though. What exactly is your problem with EVE PVP? If you are undocking your Rhea with 100 plexes in cargo on Jita 4-4 expect to lose it before you can even give it a command to align/warp. Otherwise you can have people teach you some basic pvp and EVE skills to keep you from losing your stuff. EDIT: Accursed quote function breaking. |

The problem with pvp is that i do not like it and do not want to do it lol. I am not saying it is bad, it is just not my thing. Unfortunately for you avoiding PVP in EVE is like trying not to breath oxygen in real life. Whether you like it or not intentionally or unintentionally you are engaging in PVP. Someone ganks you and you lost your ship? PVP. Someone ganks you and you jam them so you survive? PVP. Selling stuff on the market at a lower price than the next guy? (Market) PVP. Mining some asteroids with someone else on the belt? PVP. Someone trashtalking you in local? (chat) PVP. |
