Edited by: Zarithas on 27/05/2006 16:20:06 For belt piracy, solo, here's a template my friends gave me (I know that for some modules, Medium size is "heavy", but i'll just say medium to make it easier):
High 3x Small Neutron Blasters 2x Medium Nosferatus Middle 1x Medium Webber 1x Medium Warp Disruptor 1x Medium MWD Low 3x Armor Hardeners, Kinetic/Explosive/Thermal 1x 1600 Armor Plate 1x Medium Armor Repairer Drones 5x Vespas
All of this is Tech 1.
What is your opinion on this setup, what other setups would you suggest for both solo piracy and gang piracy, and what skills and at what levels would you suggest I have them? I want to make sure i'm using the perfect setup for my Rax, because I cannot afford more than one.

Why 2 med nos? I know that raxes arent known for good cap recharge, but they still can hold 5 small neutrons, web and scram and hardeners forever, and mwd+repper for a few cycles.

Hi Zarithas,
I suppose if he is willing to take on battleships which might have heavy nos, then the nos of his own helps to counter this

The minute damage output from that setup would be nowhere near enough to break a battleship tank. --------------

That is what I was thinking. I honestly feel this setup is not good, but 2 very experienced pirates gave me it, and they said it works very well. They said the damage comes from the drones mostly. And I honestly do not plan to take battleships on solo. ----- Want to join a true pirate corp that will accept and train newbs, and also recruit pros? I honestly though so too, but the CEO of a 30 person pirate corp and a friend of his said this setup is the best. Try this then. Works quite a bit betther than the setup above, though its on the same base. Drop the t2 items to t1 if you cant use them ofc.

Thanks for all the setups. What drones do you suggest I use though? 5 Kinetic? 4 Kinetic, 1 Thermal? All different kinds with 2 EM? What do you suggest? ----- Want to join a true pirate corp that will accept and train newbs, and also recruit pros? More info here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=343001 |

Best pirating setup i have known so far is'
5 x Light Neutron Blasterr's (VOID)
1 x MWD 1 x Warp Disruptor 1 x Med cap injector. (400 or 800)
1 x med rep tech 2 1 x 1600mm plate 1 x mag stab tech 2 1 x explosive hardener tech 2 1 x energized adaptive nano tech 2
This setup has work well for me all the time. just pick ur targets. ew and nos is only worry. But the dmg with the drones and void ammo is superb, works a treat, and if u do need that cap the booster is there fr emergencies. same rules apply. Land, mwd towards target, drop drones, click guns and close eyes...and sip the beer. open eyes and collect loot. It is nice with tech 2 drones. the dmg is good surprisingly using tech 2 lights and void. SKREED'O

This setup would be good, if only it could fit. The guns alone would leave some 71 PW to work with even with the best skills.
Edit: Oh nvm, small guns, you 'ougt to be shot.

My favorite setup at the moment is:
4x Heavy Ion II [Void Ammo] 1x Medium NOS
Named MWD X5 WEB J5 Scram
T2 Med Rep Energized Adaptive nano 2x Mag Stab II 1x RCU
5x Valkyrie II
It's really a cruiser killer, ripps through a tanked cruiser frightningly fast. It can't take much fire due to its lack of tank but persoanlly I prefer this setup to using Electrons an more tanking mods. -----

MWD for pirating? 1600mm armor? Medium Repairer? Something tells me you're going to cap crap. :P Here goes what I personally might use:
4x Medium blasters, of average quality (not the highest grid, not th lowest, and preferably tech 2 so that t2 ammo can be used) 1x Medium Energy Vampire- a named one, of course.
1x Named Afterburner 1x Named Webber 1x Named Scrambler, of the 1x scramble strength
1x 800mm Crystalline Carbonide or Rolled Tungsten 1x Damage Control Unit, of the type to affect shields as well as armor 1x or 2x Named Armor Hardeners
and whatever else might help you, such as a weapons upgrade (increasing tracking speed and damage).

Good luck catching people with just an afterburner on a cruiser. Without tackler you won't have much of a chance.
