My hat's off to Techell, they are playing this advantage brilliantly. But I fault CCP for how the technology was released and I find it incredibly irresponsible to advertise for them in game. I thought the log-in news was for information relevant to everyone. Most of us don't care about Techell. I would rather you not wast my bandwidth with that stuff... I can go onto the forums to see it IF I want to.

Think of the Interstellar Correspondents as newspaper reporters. Are you interested in every article in your local newspaper? Probably not; so skip the ones you don't want to read.

Iece Quaan:
Congratulations, I thought the article was well written and unbiased. It was nice to see a "role-played" accounting of something that is of obvious interest to the EVE community at large (no matter which side of the argument a particular person is on at the moment).
Keep up the good work. Way to start your job with a bang.

CCP hands you a Miner II, then advertises IN GAME for you. This is an absolute outrage.
Hey CCP, advertise some for my corp please =P
Um, CCP didn't hand them a miner II.
Techell paid approximately 1.5bill each for two BPs that were owned by others. These were NOT handed to Techell. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Let me see, I can make 80 of an item a day. It costs 50c to make. It is not a necessity of life, but merely a luxury item, a step up from other items. I can sell my entire daily inventory for $100 each. Why the hell would I sell them for $2 each? One would have to be raving mad to sell for less than they can when all inventory is selling at a higher price.

I'm part of the Interstellar Correspondant program, and I am not a CCP employee. I wrote that article because it was news. I thought it was pretty big news, too. There was an official post about it from Techell this morning, so i don't see how it could be more public than that.
Smaller corps, if you have news, and it's interesting to me, i'll write about it. It's hard to argue favoritism when i've only written one article.
Thanks.
your "news" item is considered ADVERTISING in most (all to be exact) circles. News is something like the wars going on or SA invading curse. A corp offering to sell (or trade in this case now) something (regardless of what it is) is called ADVERTISING. Unbiased or not, just by broadcasting to the whole of eve is biased enough towards that corp. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Thank you for your statement of ethics: you are, of course, entitled to hold any ethical standards that you wish. I would merely point out that almost every religion and moral system in the entire world, flatly disagrees with you. They all seem to think that the concept of a "fair price" is an important one.
Christianity's particularly keen on it, f'rinstance .. I mention that merely because it's the example I know most about.

allright, let's make this clear:
the player news has to be reviewed by a team of editors before being posted.
interstellar correspondents get access to (somewhat limited so don't go whining about that either) storyline related material on which to base news reports.

Nope, I'd see it as business news. Whilst I personally find news about other things (like wars, alliances, funny stories and discoveries) more interesting it's perfectly valid as a news item and of great interest to many.
This one's attracted a bit of excitement because it's the first one out there, give it a week and everyone'll have forgotten about it.
I would really like to see articles on smaller corps as well, but larger corps are more likely to do things that affect large areas/numbers of players so if you think about it they will dominate the news perfectly naturally and without bias on the part of the reporters. SCOPE would have been better for that with its purely forum based setup, but similar narrow minded attitudes to some of those displayed here shut that one down so let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.

as always there are those that grab the wrong end of the stick.
I applaud these news articles, and having a correspondant for each region(?) is really going to get interesting in the future.
It could be rather good to see two correspondants from opposing regions giving different side to a story during a war and the like...!
EvE NEEDS! this. so much goes on under everyone's noses and no-one even knows about it. I look forward to the thought of actually reading the news In-Game now by using the news boards.
As for the MinerII story, i agree it is news, big news, and should be there for all to see. No matter what people's personal opinions or feelings, everyone has a right to know about it. Not everyone reads these forums, in fact i would say less than 50% of the player population do, but they still have the right to be informed of these facts, and then they can make up their own minds.

Techells approach is a sound one, of course! using their piece of "I-wanna-have" to get access to EVE¦s main currency (Mega) is a clever deal ;) I applaud them for beeing that clever - pure capitalism!
Now you Techell guys need to calm dwon. It was your decision to make your "program" public by posting it at the forums. No need to get upset when an encouraged news-finder makes this info available ingame
To the correspondend: More of this, please! gives some insight into the "how-to" of our major corps out there

So you want them to censor every potentially controversial story? That would make for a really interesting news service. Oh, wait, no it wouldn't.
All of you people talking about how Techell are favored need to give it up. This was a story written by a PLAYER and it accurately covers the discussion that took place concerning Techell's announcement of the "MfM" program.
It mentions both sides of the issue - the fact that it essentially amounts to a 35% price hike, and also the fact that it's still underpriced compared to other items in the game.
If you call this an advertisement I would hate to see the commercials you would make: "Nike: We charge you way too much and our shoes fall apart, but hey so does everyone else!"
Haha. Most of you people are just ****ed because Techell was mentioned in the news in the first place. Guess what, they ARE news.

Not really, but if you like to think so, feel free. I'm ****ed at the quality of the journalists that were selected (not all of them, just three, and I've told you who two of them are), and the quality of their respective newspieces. But hey, guess what, I know you don't care, and that you're only interessted in championing Techell, so.... later.

Actually Techell took a big risk aquiring Miner II BPc (i'm unsure if they only bought 1 or 2), because paying over 1 bilion isk for something that can be put ingame by CCP overnight (there are rumors about it since the BPs appeared after the "TTI-meets-Joves-for-tech-exchange"), has a huge potential to be a money sink.
Would YOU risk paying over 1 Billion ISK for a BPc that allows production of an item that should already be sold by NPCs in the market (only the Laser, not the BPs)???
Btw, for those claiming that the Miner IIs should be sold for some 400k or so... how many days would it take for a corp to recover over 1 Billion ISK selling 1 item every 30 mins for some 400k (and lets not forget the mineral costs along the time it takes to mine and move the needed ore there)??
Targetting Techell for taking this kind of risk is dumb... you ppl (if u were smarter) should be focusing in the REAL culprits... CCP.
You guys should be demanding that the Miner IIs (not the BP) should be sold by NPCs (in HUGE ammounts and atleast 6 stations per region to prevent item hoarding for profit) on market.
Imagine that CCP placed NPCs selling Miner IIs on the Market for 1mil each... there would still be profit margin for Miner II producers because NPCs tend to sell stuff at standard profit rate... and ppl would have more choices on where and from whom to buy their Miner IIs.
Also remember one thing... somewheres in Eve there are 2 persons that gotten over 1 Billion ISK just because they gotten their hands in "hot stuff" that weren't intended to be in-game yet... and unlike Techell, they DIDN'T pay anything for those "rights", but promptly placed that over 1 billion price on the BPcs... why not just 100 mil on them?? Maybe if the BPcs were sold for 100mil each, the producers wouldn't need to recover the ammount of cash with such high priced sales.
As u see, things are not so easy as previously ("Techell is Ivil! Keel them!") thought.
About this kind of news on the In-Game browser and on the News Boards near the gates... ...i'd rather have it only in the forums, just like The Scope did... less spam for the ones that aren't interested.

Hahaha. You know this do you? That's funny. If you knew anything about me by my posts it would be that I think the latest move by Techell is shameful, greedy and downright embarassing. In fact every post I have made since they released their "Mega for Miners" program has been against Techell.
So, it seems you know **** about what I'm interested in championing, actually.
The only thing I'm out to support are the player news reporters. Something you ALL asked for. So they're not up to your standards? Too bad, you're not the one who got to pick the correspondents. Did you expect them to all to be Washington Post journalists? Get a grip dude, their independent, unpaid writers for a VIDEO GAME news service. Sorry they don't meet your high journalistic standards; maybe you should get down off your high stinky horse and stop *****ing because your corporation didn't get its own headline.

Read their "Mega for Miners" thread.
They traded their entire inventory of 200 lasers for Megacyte.
200 Lasers * 334 Megacyte = 66800 Megacyte 66800 Megacyte * 9500 ISK = 634,600,000 ISK

Well.. I think the people who you all should mad at is CCP. They pretty much gave one or two corps a Miner II monopoly and now everyone has to pay the price.
No, you don't have to buy Miner IIs.. but they are insanely better than the best pirate dropped (thus, more rare) mining lasers and they are of course in very high demand.
CCP basically took out 1 tech V item and replaced it with giving a small number of corps the ability to turn insanely huge profits totalling in the billions off of an item that takes 40k worth of tritanium and pyerite to make.. smooth move, CCP.
Should have just let TTI have their stupid tech V mining laser, atleast 1 stupid laser wouldn't have imbalanced the entire player economy. ------
