How does posting on a killboard extend ones pleasure of the game?
If you have an answer for that and you don't post all your mails then shame on you!
Other than that, you can only make sure your own backyard is clean because obviously the neighbors don't give a crap about theirs. The upside is that the grass seems greener on your backyard. Enjoy it :) ___________________________________________ Logic is a systematic method of coming to the wrong conclusion with confidence. -Murphy |

Edited by: David Corbett on 02/06/2006 02:40:18 I post all my losses. But in the end, it comes down to corporate rules. BoB speaks a lot about the accuracy of their kill/loss board, for example. Other pilots in other alliances don't even post their kills. Some people feel killboards are only for tracking kills and not losses. Others are lazy, and I suppose others are ashamed/lamers/etc who don't want their bad record to show up... in my opinion, that's the worst kind.

our KB policy is "whatever the hell you want to do"
We don't consider it relevant, for the most part.

Originally by: Masta Killa Posting all your kills and not all your losses is something that way too many alliance/corp members do and I think it's both pathetic and hypocrisy because very often, the same alliances/corps accuse others of not posting their losses.
I know alot of people are going to yap on in this thread about people posting their kills to a killboard as a way to record their kills for themselves to review, thus posting their losses isn't mandatory.
However that is complete bullsht because a killboard is in very, very many cases a part of the image of the corp, that people see and judge the corp by.
Posting all your kills and all your losses lengthens one's Epeen much more than not posting losses on purpose.
If killboards was such a part of a corp/entities image, you guys wouldn't have the horsecrap rep that you'd do, you'd be bring shining stars in the eveverse. But, well.. kill ratio aside, most think you're a joke. (Not stating my opinion one way or another, just pointing out the flaw in your logic).
Success of a corp/entity in eve has far more aspects to consider then just purely a killboard.

Seems to be a combination of shame, and poor enforcement of the rules.
Your policy regarding posting kills/losses should not dictate anyones else policy. If organisations say, judge us by our killboard then they should be accurate and will probably thank you for the help if you find a missing kill/loss.
But lets take ASCN for example, I know they don't enforce the posting of losses, is that a problem for anyone else in Eve? no. They don't enforce it because ASCN is a massive alliance that does not focus on PVP, as has been said a lot of members probably have never even seen the kb or would care to use it. ASCN save themselves a massive headache of keeping track and chasing up all missing losses.
Is it a big deal? no.

Really? Worthless? I guess I must just have mad skills, if I can find usefull intel from something that is completely devoid of value.

Edited by: comrade christopher on 02/06/2006 08:11:06 Well, I think no one should care if other corps/alliances are posting their looses. It's their own business if they want to have accurate killboard. For pvp and especially for merc corps like mine, KB is important source of information for CEO so we post all killmails.

Depends on your point of view really, having an accurate kill/loss ratio on your killboard is only really a way of saying "We're better than you" that is more or less important to certain corps.
The actual logistics of losses might have mattered back in the day but now most veteran players have a huge amount of cash and losses just don't affect many of us to a meaningful degree anymore so perhaps some people just don't see the point in posting it.
At the end of the day I think people should take the long term view with this stuff, its about the long term win not the individual loss. We're not playing Counterstrike. Simplifying the concept if I am a corp, I go to war with another corp. I lose 100 ships but the other guys loses 50 but is now broke and can't keep fighting he has to surrender, ergo I won. Doesn't matter that I lost twice as many ships because he can't keep fighting.
To me it's all about the war not about the battles.
On an incidental note I always thought it was odd that Mercenaries posted losses as by definition they are hired to cause damage and it doesn't matter if they have lost 10x more ships than the target as long as they cause damage to the target. The hirer should only be concerned about that impact, not the losses the merc is making.
Disclaimer: Our killboard is accurate

If you are going to post your kills then it seems hypocritical not to post your losses.
Theres no shame in dieing.

CVA does not post its own losses publicly.
We can view our losses internally for intel purposes but see no point in sharing our ship setups with the wider public when they can make an effort to find out for themselves
We leave it up to our enemies to post our losses ------------------------------ Hardin's Blog

I post kills and loses.. i really don't give a damn if someone else wants to see my stats or if they wanna drool over their lucky kill.. it doesn't matter really.. i do it for my own sake.. so that when it's dt i can go and see how well i'm doing. loses are part of this game so one just might get comfortable and accept them.. there is no shame in losing a ship.. _______________________________________ Keepint it BNC-style.. I post all my mails kills and losses, my stats on our killtracker are 100 percent accurate. The losses remind me how much I hate losing ships, and how I lost them. Im not a fan of peeps who dont post thier losses, but its up to them if they do it.

In Huzzah we have a strict policy on killmails, every pvp kill or loss should be posted in the killboard. The only exception is own goals from Huzzah POS killing Huzzah members due to standings or bugs or being killed soley by NPCs.
There are members who go thorugh our main antagonists killboards cross posting and finding the offending persons corporation for every missing loss mail. We also have a section on our public boards where people can post missing loss mails.
Apart from the integrity thing how can one know how one is doing in a conflict or what is happening without being able to data mine an accurate source?

what did he say? you quoted the post. read it please. he said if there is missing kill-loss mail to mail him in game and he will post it. as to bob magical losses dont show up kb. well lets hope that improves with the new kb they have coming. they have talked about it long enough thats for sure. but mail the guy in game if you disagree so much. in the same post you took time to repsond to and quote.

Maybe just mail him? It would stand to reason if you had a query about a killmail that would fall under the same idea as a missing loss..
Since KB's are kept manually it could simply be human error, or the mail was retrieved from another KB, etc.. etc.. there are plenty of reasons that a legitimate mail could have errors.

BoB guys, let's not get into a debate with the trolls about the accuracy of our killboard please.
There are some facts about our killboard that I'll state, whether you believe or perceive them to be true or not is entirely up to you all.
1) We aim to keep as accurate a killboard as is humanely possible without automatic feeds from CCP. 2) If any lossmails are not posted and you post them to the offending player's CEO or Director then they will get added. 3) We regularly search through our opponents killboards looking for any of our losses that haven't been posted on our boards. 4) Members that don't post all their kills/losses get spanked, warned and risk being booted.
On a personal level I'm a big fan of accurate killboards for a great many reasons and I see no shame in posting losses, we all have them to one degree or another it's the nature of the game.

SATAN, you'll have to eve-mail me your ASCN killboard password. for some reason they actually seem to post their losses to burn eden. I can only assume you have their killboard password.
I've killed close to 50 ASCN ships this week. According to their killboard I've only killed 15 ASCN ships in my lifetime.
Sort of what I'd expect from somebody like ASCN, but they are sadly not alone. Shamis
