Edited by: welsh wizard on 13/06/2006 01:31:15 The fights have come thick and fast and our pilots are learning much from our enemy. We have however encountered a serious problem...
Our pilots complain of a large blazing yellow ball (much like the many stars littering New Eden) in the sky which comes to them in their dreams. This yellow ball wills them to go to something they call a 'pub' to watch this bizarre sounding event called 'football' otherwise known as "soccer... hic!.... to our friends across the pond... bleurghhh".
This ritual also involves the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages resulting in lack of concentration and visual impairment.
Our pilots have complained about not being able to properly pilot their ships while under the sway of these 'dreams'.
Our R&D guys are striving to find a cure for the problem.
Celestial Apocalypse intentions in Fountain have not altered and we will remain in the region to fight the military might that is the Band of Brothers.
Expect more soon..

Not picking on you, as you have said nothing wrong, but I have recently found out soccer is a British term and was the popular name for the sport when it was brought to America in the late 1800's. Its not that we made up the term to **** of the Brits (I think 99% of RKK thinks this way), itĘs simply what you called the game when you got over here and it stuck. I could pull up 1000 items for you to read but I thought the one below cut to the chase rather nicely.
Soccer is an abbreviation for Association Football. The Football Association was formed in London in October 1863 when representatives of eleven clubs and schools met in an attempt to standardize the rules of the game. One of the rules prohibited the carrying of the ball, a rule that would lead to the Rugby-oriented clubs leaving the Association several months later. The name Association Football was coined to distinguish it from Rugby.
By 1889, the abbreviation socca' was in use, and the spelling soccer had made its appearance by 1895."

Tbh the yanks didn't play badly.
They just lack the cutting edge required to take on quality opposition like the Czechs.
I'm a firm believer in USA football. If they decided to take it seriously one day as a mens sport they could be one of the best.
The ethnic diversity and population size is only a good thing.

This ritual also involves the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages resulting in lack of concentration and visual impairment. A state with which our foe Blacklight and our very own Fedaykin Naib can likely sympathise with.
Our pilots have complained about not being able to properly pilot their ships while under the sway of these 'dreams'. Perhaps even more seriously it means our number of availiable pod pilots has been severely depleted as of late due to their confinement in sick bay.
Our R&D guys are striving to find a cure for the problem.

Officially, we Xelas second rate losers rather like our relationship with BoB, but unofficially, we Xelas second rate losers still like our relationship with BoB. Strange, I know, but there you have it. Are we as powerful as BoB? Nope. Does it matter in Fountain core? Not at all. Xelas holds those systems, NPC station intensive as they may be, and a good number around Fountain. If we were so easily knocked down, we'd be relegated to the NPC stations, so kindly avoid speaking that form of nonsense.
Celes was good to fight when they were around before, and they're good to fight now, and I don't blame them for docking when they're outmanned 3 to 1. I wouldn't blame them if they did it when it was an even fight either. However, we're not going to reduce the fleet sizes so you'll have more fun on your little visit. The message you seem to be missing is that you're not at home in Fountain, and if you come through for a visit, you'll spend your time staring at the redock button or a clone vat, your pick.
As for FA/VC/NORAD/D2/IMP/<insert alliance here>, we hold our own most days, and when not, we talk to our allies in Delve. If anyone has a problem with a lone alliance calling for some help when they're outnumbered 4 alliances to 1 and all of those alliances are larger, flame somewhere else.
The simple truth is this: Xelas and BoB are in Fountain. We're the only people who have stayed in Fountain and not run back somewhere else to regroup while alliance set number two takes up the Fountain fight against us. If you think us weak, come kill us. If you think we're lackies, tell someone who cares. And if you think there's any force in this 'verse that's going to keep us from making all of Fountain clear of our enemies, wait and watch, and perhaps you'll see something you didn't expect.

They should rest the Roon for one more game tbh. England don't need him against Trinidad and Tobago anyway.
Give Owen and Crouch 90 minutes or possibly give Lescott a run before the end.
Anyway enough blatant forum rule breaking...
