Works OK for me.
My clones I made with the Eve Clonemaker did not work, so I tossed them and made new ones. The new ones do work. Yay! Undock blinking lights now exist.
The warp tunnel still stutters and is jumpy. Sure would be nice if that was a smooth animation. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

I'm experiencing some seriously bad distortion of the audio. It's full of clipping (and my volumes are all low), and stuttering. It also sounds like it's got a high pass filter on it. It's so crackly with distortion, it's a mess.

Rebooted the client, no change. I am using a external audio interface (Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 firewire).
Interesting, when I reboot the client after choosing Internal Speakers, it works fine. So clearly there's a problem with the connection to the Focusrite. But it worked flawlessly before the update. |

yea. I thought something like this might be the case. which is strange, because of course it shouldn't be like this.
please try all the "usual" things . of updating the focusrite driver and stuff. turning it on and off and so and I'll try to see if I can get one of those specific ones and try it out here.

Hi Epicurus, could you try the following first:
1. Open Terminal (From Applications > Utilities). 2. In the resulting Terminal window type the following then hit ENTER: "open Library" 3. You should now have the Library open in a finder window, find the folder called "Application Support" and open it. 4. Find the "EVE Online" folder and open it. 5. Find the file called "config". Rename it to something different like oldconfig. 6. Run your TQ Launcher 7. Attempt to log in to TQ. 8. Success or Failure? Post in this thread please.
If that doesn't work, I have another potential workaround Graphical QA Analyst | EVE Quality Assurance | Team TriLambda |

Update: I rebooted everything. The audio clipping and filtering is fixed. But now I only have the left channel. No sound from the right channel in EVE.
I've tried other audio, it's not my hardware.
Thanks for the help!

It appears Multi Monitor support is broken on the new version,
My Mac Client crashes before reaching character selection screen, I'm running a MacBook Pro through a Toshiba TV (1920 x1080)
System info:
MacBook Pro 15-inch, Early 2011 Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
I'm getting an error message that reads:
Exception raised Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000028 at address 0x77218209. Would you like to create a crash report?
If I disconnect the TV display the client loads without error.
I guess I'll need to get used to the small screen until this can be addressed |

The installer for Macs doesn't have a functioning "Applications" link in the install window. I've gone around this by just dragging it into the Applications folder manually, no big deal, but it comes across as very unprofessional and entry-level when the installer itself isn't vetted enough for issues like this. If I was a brand new player starting today, this would be a huge red flag in relation to Mac support and integration.
I just downloaded the newest build available for Mac Players from the drop down menu in account management.
Once the download was finished, and I mounted the disk image, the /Volumes/Eve Online finder window comes up, with the Eve app on the left, and an arrow pointing to the Application Folder, or what should be the Application Folder. Instead it is just a blank sheet. Dragging the Eve app to the Applications page right next to it as instructed does nothing but give you a circle with a slash through it as the cursor, telling you that you cannot move anything there.

Here is some feedback: KRONOS DOESN'T LAUNCH! In typical fashion, a major new patch/update has caused me to lose at least a day of gaming, probably more. And I hear now we'll get this kind of treatment several times a year- OH JOY!
The launcher is now broken by the 'fix' , err, I mean, the patch (update). Same issue as others... i login, push 'play' and NADA. I only had a bit of time to log in today, which is now consumed by dealing with another so-called 'update'.
By the way... asking people to dive into their files and make 'changes' when most of us don't really know what we are doing... when your own launcher should be working in the first place... especially when it HAD BEEN working before you 'fixed' it... lame.
EVERY TIME there is a major update, we get headaches like this....
Please fix the launcher... my skill queue only has like 1-2 days left on it! Im guessing it may take that long... who the heck knows... |

So far so good.
The only minor annoyance I found is that the mouse wheel doesn't have acceleration any more, in any window. This makes scrolling up or down long lists (as well as tweaking prices of market orders) more of a pain.
Again, just a minor annoyance, but it would be great to have it fixed, if possible. |

Edit note... Launcher loads, logs in, let's me into the station I'm docked at. The graphics themselves are shakey and kind of looks like a 3D image without 3D glasses. My monitor is the only monitor I use, with my MBP closed so I'm not using the built in screen. Have never had this issue with my monitor until the Kronos release, and technically doesn't keep me from being able to play, but makes it very difficult on the eyes with all edges, lines, lettering, etc seeming to be vibrating and shaking like it's having a seizure
Got the exact same issue. But only the menu items though, the environmental graphics are fine. First time I've run across this issue as well. Got almost the same mac specs, appart from 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 and 12GB ram. : / "The most persistent principles of the universe are accident and error." |

An application on a Mac is not really an application, but a folder. You can open it by doing a secondary click (or right click) on your Eve Online icon and selecting "show contents". Then follow the folders: contents, resources, to the real eve online application. Double click on that.

I have all the settings set to performance(using the in-game graphics optimizer). Ive restored the client, restarted my MAC, and it still has shakey graphics.
My Setup: Macbook Pro 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 4000 w/ LG external Monitor using HDMI from Thunderbolt Port OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
Edit note... Launcher loads, logs in, let's me into the station I'm docked at. The graphics themselves are shakey and kind of looks like a 3D image without 3D glasses. My monitor is the only monitor I use, with my MBP closed so I'm not using the built in screen. Have never had this issue with my monitor until the Kronos release, and technically doesn't keep me from being able to play, but makes it very difficult on the eyes with all edges, lines, lettering, etc seeming to be vibrating and shaking like it's having a seizure Got the exact same issue. But only the menu items though, the environmental graphics are fine. First time I've run across this issue as well. Got almost the same mac specs, appart from 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 and 12GB ram. : /
Yea. I got it fixed. Not sure how exactly. But did notice that switching to window mode stopped it. Then i messed with my monitors settings a bit and tried full screen again after a few more restarts and it finally was stable. I also unhooked my monitor and ran the client once without it(using the MBP built in screen), turn off my MBP, and restarted with my monitor hooked back up. I know it might now be much help. But something in that process reset either the thunderbolt port or my monitor and it worked. Hope u get it sorted out. |

Mac OSX 10.7.5, as has been noted Kronos broke the previous clones created with Clonemaker. Recreating clones through Clonemaker aren't launch able. I prefer using the point-and-click tool; any chance this could be updated? I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

Surprised to hear about the problems people are having. I was genuinely giddy with the new patch because performance seems much better and my cooling fan never bothered to turn on past 2200rpm. Major improvement, since it was always pegged at 6200rpm on the previous version.
This is on my laptop screen, not an external screen. I will check later how it runs on my large screen.

Good evening,
I had an apparent hiccup in the patch download process where the module failed a checksum check. I changed the name of the config file in the /Users/moi/Library/Application Support for Eve folder to oldconfig and restarted the launcher; the launcher has been downloading a full patch, 1.24 GB worth, for a couple of minutes. Aaand now it says it's ready.
The checksum fail from memory is what occurred downloading the previous patch.
I'm on a MacBookPro10,1 that's about 10 months old, running 10.9.3. |

I've gone around this by just dragging it into the Applications folder manually, no big deal, but it comes across as very unprofessional and entry-level when the installer itself isn't vetted enough for issues like this. If I was a brand new player starting today, this would be a huge red flag in relation to Mac support and integration. Software Downloaded: eve-premium_009797_792006-mac.dmg
I agree -- the new user experience for the typical Mac user, who is used to a high degree of integration and ease of use, is sub-optimal. IIRC, when I installed a month or so ago, I had all sorts of trouble getting the darn thing to download and run the client the first time. I think that's mainly because the installer/launcher app is not certified by Apple's "gatekeeper" from a security perspective.
That said, the performance improvements in Kronos are very large, at least judging by the greatly reduced CPU usage, which translates into a nice cool CPU that requires less hot and noisy cooling fan action... |

I run two accounts from the launcher in two windows. when closing or opening an account the other window stops responding 40% of the time. I have to force quit out of it or power cycle my mac to get it to reset. I actually had to unplug it once because when I tried to reboot the mac it said that "eve online canceled my reboot". wow, i'd like you to stop countermanding my orders to my OS. and I'd like you to stop freezing up. this two window method worked great until kronos. Running multiple accounts from the launcher v2.1.655130 at once has not been properly tested on a Mac. I can inadvertently log into the same account and arrive at the same character selection screen twice. If I log an account out, any of the remaining accounts will no longer gain focus. Hence I have to resort to force quitting any other accounts. It's a real pain esp. as I use in game notes on my main alt to keep track of time until skill queues run out in a note each day across my six accounts. I am using Launcher rather than a clone maker version again at the moment, since the new Cider won't start old versions make with clone maker. Also - even though auto play is ticked - one of the times I logged in it didn't proceed to character selection screen. And it would be a great help if the title bar didn't just say Eve Online - but also had the character name in it. That would help with Alt-tabbing... |

Could you do the following for me and report back?
1. Right-click on your EVE Online application and select "Show Package Contents". 2. Expand Contents. 3. Expand Resources. 4. Right-click on your EVE Online listed under Resources and select "Show Package Contents". 5. Expand Contents then MacOS. 6. Ive tried running three clients on my MBP, doing a mining OP. I'm having issues. First, I get short freezes. They last from a few seconds long to about 2 minutes. The entire computer freezes, UI, clock, everything, except the mouse pointer.
After a few of these happen, graphic anomalies start showing up. Ships turn white. Stations turn yellow. When selecting a station, the "dock" button is just an empty square. After docking, the background is black and item icons do not show (although I can still interact with the items). I have done a bug report.
I am going to set all the clients to "optimized for memory" and see if that helps. A shame if the new cider client means I have to look at a ugly game. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

No bug filed yet, because it was only a quick check, but it looks like high-resolution textures are still broken in the character creator. They look much better in the CQ, though.
I got the weird jittery whole-screen animation while slowboating in space, too, as if I was in warp. Ships also look much better, and yay blinkenlights.
Glitches notwithstanding, this is looking like a major upgrade. It's much smoother and much less taxing on my hardware.

From a stickyed thread in this forum;
"We have received a number of reports where Mac users receive the following message upon trying to run EVE after downloading the Mac client:
"EVE Online" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
Currently Gatekeeper does not recognize the EVE Online Mac app. This message is a security measure, but you should be able to run the app if you right-click it and select Open. You can also go into System Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> General, and set "Allow applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere, which will avoid this coming up again for future downloads.
This is not the only reason for the message, but it has resolved the majority of cases. If you are still seeing the message after trying the above process, please file a technical support ticket."
Also: When you (or anyone) tries to reinstall, also try deleting the Eve Online folder in application support. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

You need to go into your preferances to switch your settings. Go to prefrances, then Security and privacy, then General then 'Allow apps to be downloaded from "Anywhere"'.
Then it should allow the EVE client to be opened. You can change it back the settings btw since it will recognize EVE.

Ok, so with the security set to 'allow apps from anywhere' I can now get into the launcher, but the launcher just hangs.: the window has appeared as expected, but when i mouse over it goes into a spinner, and I cant select to type my username or anything in. I'm not being maxed out on cpu, and theres tons of memory free.
Nothing is 'happening' - the bar at the bottom which usually goes across checking the patch, just isn't.
I had also wiped my application support folder to give it a full re-install.
Any other ideas appreciated.
--
On an aside: I don't quite understand why the app is not signed by an 'identified developer' though - my understanding (and forgive me if I'm wrong) is that you only need to pay a $50 fee or similar to be able to sign apps for macs. I don't like (in general) having to drop down to un-identified apps. Chain-of-trust type security applies. |

Please fix this ASAP! It's 100% reproducible, and a huge liability for capital pilots trying to do cyno chains.
Until this is fixed be sure you've docked before logging out a cyno! |

First the current problem: the launcher is broke (no two ways about it) so I went to the resource file and launched from there and it worked fine last night. This morning the laucher is still broke, and now from the old login screen I get "new build" I click yes and it tells me it was damaged and I can't log in. I spect considerable time yesterday downloading the patch, then spent 4 times as long updating to mac os X 10.9 something, then even more time once the launcher broke, getting rather tired to be honest. We need a fix that works and keeps on working. Work arounds that last for one log in is silly. I know you are trying but please find a solution. |

Eve launcher shows Tranquility Status (Green) and Online Pilots Client launches, then the blackscreen with white connection bar fils Then it takes a little bit and then I get following message: "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
Next to the above I also tried launching the "app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app" same results.
I had no issues launching Eve before the Kronos patch, now I have a skill queue dead in the water for 36+ hrs
Strange thing, while on the launcher I see Tranquility status and nor of online pilot properly, on the client only "server:Tranquility" shows, next to status it keeps saying "unknown".
Thanks for helping me out here...

Hi Tom,
This isn't something we've come across internally. Do you employ any firewalling or internet security software that may be blocking the updated client?

Things Ive found that seem to help reproduce the bug:
Keep using the computer. Restarting the computer seems to help prevent the bug from popping up. Longer it's been since a restart, the more it happens. Move items between ships and an orca, or other fleet hangar, while in space. Doing a mining op is a good way to see this bug. Other posters here say moving a freighter about with a cyno chain can do it too. Stream something from Youtube while playing.
Even when doing all this, it can be awhile between freezes, like up to an hour. That may be why I did not get one this morning. I was only on for an hour and just got lucky.
The ultimate: Have a torrent running in the background. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Nothing is 'happening' - the bar at the bottom which usually goes across checking the patch, just isn't.
I had also wiped my application support folder to give it a full re-install.
Any other ideas appreciated. .. snip..
Ok, so now Im at home and can properly fill out the data.

The launcher when run opens, its white for a few seconds, then renders the page. The bar at the bottom is white, and does not progress to yellow. The application is marked as 'not responding' in the application list. Top tells us theres tons of memory, and the CPU is not going too crazy (no fork bombing at least).
It then does nothing. I must admit one time, it went to validating client and got to 10%, but i hung - i left it for some time (30 min(?)) and have force quit and re-opened several times. I generaly leave it 10 minutes or more in this state before kiling it and opening it again.
Tried various things, like rebooting, running with nothing else open, etc. Nothing has helped.
Very frustraited - third day, still paying on multiple accounts to have no skill in training. Not the first time this has happened post-patch. |

Hi guys, any idea's? I'm running out of options and frankly out of hope. Unable to play my favorite game and several days of empty skill queue's is getting worse, the detox is killing me...
Are different port's used by the client and launcher, cuz the latter is smoothly connecting to the Tranq Server, while the client can't seem to find his own 'six' ... let alone the Tranq Server...
Only options I can see at this point, pulling a cable to Iceland and connect directly, switching to Hello Kitty online or buying a windows machine, not sure which is worse...
So put in those implants and cook me up a solution.

Let' just run over an idea here. I saw you tried the config fix, but have you tried this? 1. Right-click on your EVE Online application and select "Show Package Contents". 2. Expand Contents. 3. Expand Resources. 4. Right-click on your EVE Online listed under Resources and select "Show Package Contents". 5. Expand Contents then MacOS. 6. Open a Terminal window and type"CHMOD 700 " into it (make sure you have a space after 700), then drag "cider" from your finder window into Terminal and hit ENTER. 7. Expand Frameworks and repeat step 6 but with the "wineserver" file.

Launcher hang, 101% only way is to launch EvE in app ( EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app )
but, now with new patsy, I need to re down load 9GB.dmg, and instal one on every acc ( I use fast user switching to multi box ) only first admin that installed EvE in /Application can start it.

I've been getting the client freeze on multibox logging out/closing a client too.
Maybe be useful to know I am using a clone made with the clonemaker, (because it really is the only way to multibox on osx - everyone uses it).

Are you running in window mode or full screen? From my experience running the clients in full screen does not cause the clients to freeze or studded. However, I can constantly regenerate this error when I run the clients in window mode. |

Also, I minimized my local window, it did not appear in the sidebar and the Channels window still thinks its opened, so it can't be joined.

Running Multiple Clients - When I quit one, it crashes the others!
Since updating to Kronos, the Mac EVE Client has worked better for me. I can actually run three clients in a fairly stable manner for long duration, even when outputting to a 1080p TV via HDMI.
The problem, however, is that if I quit one client, the other clients immediately freeze/lock up. Doesn't matter where I am or what I am doing, so as you can imagine this is an issue when in PvE, or PvP.
I am using an older release of Acrobat Flash Reader 11 because of the previous Launcher crash/issues with the latest Adobe Flash player 13.

Hi since your Kronos patch, the mouse zoom function behaviour in space on a smart mouse on Mac has changed. Using Mac's OSX inertia zoom function on the mouse was one of the best flying features in Eve on a Mac. Now since your latest patch the inertia function on the apple smart mouse no longer functions at all? Making the apple smart mouse behave in such a way that makes the peripheral device a piece of junk to use in game. Instead of one full mouse gesture swipe with your finger on the mouse to zoom in and out to max in space it now takes 10 swipes to zoom in and out. Please for the love of all things fix this issue quickly, is everyone else experiencing this issue? Im running : Mavericks on 27" iMac 2013 |

First
Those of use suffering with audio. If you turn your in-game audio off, then change the output source via sound/menubar, then turn game audio back on, you will get sounds. At least this works for me. (Warning, you may need to turn the audio on and off a few times, as well as to change the inputs - setting to internal than back another source seems to work the best)
Second For those who are having multi account issues - if your running from just the launcher, try using the EVE clone maker. That fixed my issue.
if the link from CCP doesn't work,
Heres my dropbox link
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ks8s9g69b11pas/EVE%20Clonemaker.zip
CCP - Just so you all know. The issue for the audio from what I can tell is based in the EVE launcher. Not the client. I've started my client through the launcher and get no audio. but can get audio via the work around i have above. -- More testing seems to make it if after i have the audio in the client and turn it off. Then back on, that I don't get anything. Unless i repeat my steps above a few times make it work.
On the Multibox issues. I had deleted my clones over a month ago. When I patched to Kronos, and brought one of my alts back online, i noted the client locking up when i'd quit the game on one.
The Clonemaker clone fixed that issue. -- As i've had issues with downloading CCPs copy, I've included the copy I have that works.
Good luck working the bugs out. xoxo Amarisen Gream

There is also this crazy skill queue bug. You launch game. Go into skill queue and immediately are prompted with 'You have changed skill queue. Do you want to apply changes'. Maybe this is related to clearing cache? The act of pausing the skill queue as been a long standing bane of mine. When would a paying subscriber want all alts paused at once? This is a use case CCP has forced upon us we don't need. The act of pausing one to start another is also cumbersome. Why not just have start? If 2 of 3 alts are plexed, you can prompt for pause which alt. Then we come on to paused queue reimbursement from petitions. This should be time based. At present it's given as a constant number of SP, not based on a time window. So you are penalised for a pause bug which the code self induces randomly from time to time. It does not adhere to the benefits of remaps or implants. I've given up petitioning it. And have 2 alts that have been caught by this since I last complained about it. |

A shame if the new cider client means I have to look at an ugly game.
Update: Optimized for memory did not help, I still get hangs. It does seem to be correlated with other internet activity. The more you do outside of eve (web surfing, etc.) the greater the chance it happens. This is similar to the big lockup bug we have had for years. Except after this morning's patch I tried again and it did not happen, despite running 3 clients while web surfing. Was there an undocumented change in this morning's patch that could have fixed it? Not as far as I am aware Vincent. I just tried on 3 different macs without getting a reproduction, this does not mean that I have stopped looking into the issue, rest assured.
I have not had a re-occurrence since the patch on June 5. I have no idea why. Maybe that patch overwrote something that got corrupted on my install? I've even tried forcing the bug to show, no luck. But I see from other threads that others are still getting it. I hope you can figure out whats going on. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

This new release has fixed a large amount of problems. I'm running it on 10.9.3 and have not found any problems.
Prior to this I was running the windows client through wine on Mac which also runs great however after seeing both version, why is it that the mac version is still missing some of the amazing lighting and flaring that is available on the windows client?
Examples - in the hanger, the lighting flares beautifully when a part of the ship is in front of it. On the mac client, nothing. The lighting seems flat, even to the point of the flaring having solid but reduced opacity lines?
Same goes when the ship breaks the lighting from a star in a system, windows client shows beautiful flaring however on the mac client, nothing - it seems really flat.
Its disappointing because I marvel at the lighting effects on the windows client and no matter how much I use the mac client, its lacking in comparison. All settings are on max with HDR enabled on the mac, the same settings as the windows client.
When are mac users going to get the same visual experience as the windows client? |

Hi,
Looks like the Forum software ate my last posting. That's the second time that appears to have happened.
Today's update, like all my previous updates, did not download or install properly. I expect to rename config to config.old4 and download a much bigger update.
The file evepremiumpatch590158-mac.tgz is created on the Mac in the Eve Online folder, but no content is downloaded before the dialog appears:
There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:
Unable to download file /590158/evepremiumpatch590158-mac.tgz from the server. Error: url //cdn1.eveonline.com/590158/evepremiumpatch590158-mac.tgz not found
Do you want to go to support page?
Is it possible that the file being created has the wrong file permissions and the downloader backs off when it sees it doesn't have what it needs?

Hi again,
I was confused by the whole escapade and decided to sit back, relax, read what the net said about downloading //cdn1.eveonline.com/590158/evepremiumpatch590158-mac.tgz, and so on and so forth. I rediscovered the actual problem and fix.
The bottom line is that I always leave the EVE Online Launcher running somewhere on the desktop, and that properly downloading the patch file appears to be impossible without relaunching the launcher. So quit the Launcher and restarted it. Viola, download starts.
(The Launcher lets you hit PLAY first before it tells you that your login credentials have expired and you must type them in again. It can't figure it out ahead of time and ask for the credentials straight up?)
Thanks,

No audio what so ever with my external audio interface. Using internal seems to work ok.
External audio interface is SPL Crimson via USB which works great otherwise, whether youtube/iTunes or as multi channel input/output in a sequencer.
I do have SPL's proprietary driver installed but that's only for e.g. sequencers/wave editors and can't be used for system audio. It is selectable as a core audio device for system audio in OSX with no problems at all with said proprietary HAL driver installed for "non-system" audio, so I know the proprietary driver isn't causing problems for core audio.
Macbook Pro retina 15" (2012) OS: 10.9.3 nVidia 650M 16GB RAM
Is anyone having any luck using external audio?
Was it ever possible to select output device for general audio output in EVE via audio settings? Seems we can for chat but setting that to system, rather than default as suggested in an earlier post does nothing for me. |

Another patch - unplayable for me too - just gonna let my 7 accounts subscriptions expire and continue to top skills up. So many issues... Have tried re-installing Mavericks from Recovery partition. Eve dmg downloaded would bizarrely not allow drag to applications from panel that dmg presented to install - Had to copy to /Applications manually. (circle with diagonal line thru it on app folder when you drag to App folder in Eve install pane). Multiple account logins and rest freezing on logouts and having to force quit apps repeatedly probably causing knock on effects. Install of dmg takes about 15-18 min iirc. Then it patches/validates another 5 minutes. Was finding I was having to do this all the time.. Basically you keep getting cider crashes. To the point you can't even get character selection screen. Clearing cache and launcher hangs on restart. Force quitting launcher and restart - had issues. Sporadically you have the issue where authentication hangs even when cache has recently been cleared. I was also having issues with getting 4 accounts loaded at once - at worst would not even load one or two on occasions. Clone maker used to be my solution for this - but that doesn't work any more.. Could get 5 even at stretch with that. - but was slow.. Worst part is I had about 45 days before repelling on 6 of my accounts - and I'd just started another with power of 2. Gonna try again when Power of 2 account due to expire. Give CCP some time to try and get the Mac sorted.. Giving up on it for now. |

Also on the point of authentication hanging.... Why is it sometimes the progress bar renders as a hollow rectangular perimeter that fills up - and other times as a solid rectangle.. Not sure - but maybe the solid one is when it hangs.... |

" #104 Posted: 2014.06.08 18:01 | Report 2 Running Multiple Clients - When I quit one, it crashes the others!
Macbook Pro Laptop 15in Late 2008 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB 1067mhz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB OS X 10.9.3 w/ Latest Updates"
OP above.
Since the latest patch something broke. I was able to play multiple clients before, with one the only issue being the use of force quit to close a client since the closing issue has not yet been addressed.
I updated to the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer in the hope that it would fix the issues, but no luck. The only way I can get past the authentication screen after the launcher window closes, is to hit esc. and try the work around where you click full screen and apply. That randomly works, perhaps 1 out of 5 launches. Cannot launch more that one client, even after it takes me 20 minutes to get one successful client launch.
I pay real world money for multiple subscriptions, and also purchase PLEX to convert to ISK for projects. The lack of customer service, or a serious attempt to fix issues since the Adobe Flashplayer bug in April is starting to be a bit much given the real world money I pay to CCP.
CPP, are there any fixes or resolutions on the horizon?
Am I missing some other forum where CCP is more active in responding to the Mac client issues or is this thread it post Kronos? |

Hey everyone.
I have spent the last couple of hours messing around with running/quitting multiple clients based on the suggestions of our partners so I wanted to update this thread with my findings.
Firstly, I took the precaution of again ensuring that the crash occurred for me when I quit one of the multiple clients, which it did.
With that confirmed, I navigated to /Library/Application Support and found the EVE Online folder and deleted it to ensure that when I created some clones I had fresh, default settings.
After that I grabbed our Clonemaker tool from here and then followed the instructions here to create multiple clones of my TQ installation.
Since then, I have had 3 clients running at the same time then quitting randomly from different scenes without any of the other clients crashing, and by looking at Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor) confirmed that there were an equivalent number of "wineserver" processes to active EVE Clients.
I would really like people to try the above, especially including deleting your "...\Application Support\EVE Online" folder.
I would also like to draw people's attention to the other methods of setting up multiple clients listed here if this Clonemaker method does not work for you.
I must state that I have not personally tested the other methods there, and if you do try them out I would strongly advise deleting any existing clients and settings folders and try it from a fresh install so that everyone who tries has a baseline to work from and compare.
Please let me know how you get on! Graphical QA Analyst | EVE Quality Assurance | Team TriLambda |

It can work for quite some time before you get crashes. I haven't been able to replicate it consistently but deleting all your settings again is a total PITA (we can't even use garpa to manage settings on OSX) and not really going to help if you already had to do it once for kronos. (I couldn't even launch the client without doing this initially - it was infuriating)
It has got to be a leak of the shutdown signal to other processes in some manner. There is some weirdness with window focus that can occur multiboxing (particularly on login - try having a client running opening another instance of the same one while and log in, continuing to interact with the first window) which could be related.
Far more likely is it is related to having the 'resource caching' graphic setting enabled and cutting the connection to that cache hits both if they have some shared resources. Anyways, deleting settings doesn't help its just more pain. I miss my market quickbar... Apprentice Goonswarm Economic Warfare Consultant - Drowning in entitlement and privilege.-á |

I have same issue if I use ESC -> quit game, but if I use X (windowed mode) and use Quit game from popup, it works just fine for me. Been using with 1 to 5 clients at the time, thought heating issue if any sort of action with 5, 3 works pretty good and heat is the only issue this far with 3 or below.

I bit the bullet and heeded CCP Sledgehammers advice. I've trashed all the application support folders after doing a backup first... Since doing this I've been doing the setup of the ESC menu options for 7 accounts. Had no issues logging out and getting lock ups. Also the clone maker 5 created clones that didn't give me an immediate cider crash any more. I've not had a single cider crash for things like logging 4 accounts in at once... or a triple undock from Jita. So it's a pain - but at least i can start playing again - was on the brink of giving up. |

I can replicate it consistently now it's got nothing to do with the settings.
To not crash you need to have another application higher in the priority cue for alt-tab.
To replicate
- Open eveclient1
- Open eveclient2
- Alt tab so that you are switching between the two with no other application in-between
- press cmd-q on eveclient1
- watch in horror as eveclient2 crashes
To not crash
- Open eveclient1
- Open eveclient2
- Open some other application
- Alt tab so that you are switching between all three
- press cmd-q on eveclient2
- as long as the other application gets window focus as you close eveclient2 eveclient1 does not crash

CCP Sledgehammer. It took me about 4 hours to get a first cut at getting the UI setup again across 21 alts. I expect to tweak these more in the coming days... It was an extremely tedious thing to have to do. And I'm somewhat alarmed when I think about CCP's intention to do more minor releases rather than the occasional big one. Does this mean I'll be needing to do this again come July 22nd with the Crius release - or any minor ones before that? Or is it only when cider changes that I will need to repeat this process? Darn.... still getting issues... Crashed between gates.... console indicates cider: detected buffer overflow. I got a pop up - but not the usual transgaming overflow one I used to get pre-Kronos - just asking if i wanted to send crash report...
The popup said: Assertion failed at address 0x000b:0x91b55952. Would you like to create a crash report? (which I did)
At the time this occurred it was the only Eve session I had active. Subsequent to that when I try and launch the cloned app from the dock I get messages com.transgaming.EveOnline Exited with code: 1 in the Console and game fails to start. Reboot fixed this - I suspect there were streams/ports etc left unopened from the crash causing this.
The old pop up - I got before on 16th March 2014 said: Transgaming C Runtime Library Error -> Buffer overrun! |

Confirming that Seith Kali's fix works for me. Followed these steps: 1. Launch client A with launcher and login. 2. Switch accounts in the launcher, launch client B and login. 3.Click on local window in client A (is Jita local, easiest way to be sure client hasn't hard crashed is if chat channels keep scrolling) 4. Click on a non-Eve software window, like jabber, to bring it to foreground/focus. 5. Click on Eve client B to bring it to foreground. 6. Quit client B. 7. Jabber window is now in front/has focus. Eve client A continues working normally. 8. Profit!
I don't use alt-tab because I use windowed mode with two monitors, so I can't comment directly on that. Should be the same mechanism though, as long as quitting one client hands focus to something that isn't an Eve client, all will be well.
Also to Eric Agerwal: When you make a copy of the client with Clonemaker, you need to change one small thing inside the new copy so that it properly recognizes a different folder inside Application Support (those instructions are in the wiki page on mac multi boxing). With that done, you shouldn't need to trash an existing Eve folder in app support. If there isn't one Eve will make a new one for the clone, and you should be able to copy the original support folder into the new one. Only time you should need to trash the client clones is when cider itself is changed, and even then deleting the Eve folder in App Support shouldn't be necessary. Kimimara Yoga: I know a lot of things changed in the settings for Kronos in relation to Audio. I suspect the upgrade didn't handle clone maker and multiple alt setups for the launcher - I had tried both.. So perhaps certain settings didn't have intelligent defaults or weren't correctly initialised, I think this may have been CCP Sledgehammers reasoning.. |

Eve client appears to be spawning too many processes and locks up intermittently.
2014 Mac Book Pro, 16 gigs of ram, 2.3ghz core i7, 512gb ssd, OS 10.9.3,
The only way to fix it is to force quit the program. I notice when one client shuts down, properly or otherwise any other eve client that was running locks up. I can only fix it by forcing the client to quit by killing the process. There are background processes left behind that never shut down sometimes so I have to go kill those too. |

So far so good. I've tried this and for two days no crashes when I'm logging out. Hopefully this will continue. Probably the most difficult task was trying to find the Application Support folder as Apple has that hidden as default. Thank you for the update CCP Sledgehammer! |

I've never had a problem with the launcher, on Windows or Mac, until yesterday.
The Mac Launcher completed updating but doesn't launch.
- Tried the "open apps from anywhere" thing. (Why does any developer think intentionally reducing security settings to launch a game is acceptable?)
- Tried deleting the EVE folder in App Support.
- Tried launching directly from the app file.
Nothing works. |

I think the security thing is a slippery slope myself... Cider/Winserver/Wineskin i think are open source projects - The windows emulation occurs thru these. Afaik - CCP doesn't control the source... I had actually emailed CCP Sledgehammer a similar question... What precautionds does CCP take to ensure cider doesn't contain any malware? I said this in light of the buffer overflow messages... I actually tend to get them after reinstalling Mavericks co-incidentally.... Only happened the once so far since doing an OS/X reinstall from recovery partition... But alas I never got a response as yet. I know CCP has partners who help them with the Mac support from chatting with CCP Sledgehammer. |

At the same time typing a phrase in a chat window is accepted first time. Second time it just buzzes. I have to force quit the apps.. Not socket closed pop-ups, but maybe this was impatience on my part! I am having similar issues since Tuesday update. I took it a bit farther and instead of force quitting right away I waited for second Hulk to engage 4 empty cycles into Orca, this means the client was frozen and unresponsive for minimum of 12 minutes, which for me this over 32,000 m3 of ore forever lost and not gathered even though showed the miners active, but my other two accounts there showed it's mining beams inactive the entire time. Like you it wasn't all my accounts it was just the one client my other clients running just fine. I am not sure if they are trying to fix the reliance on Clone Maker for Multi-Boxing, or just random glitches from the server updates, but I hope the situation improves. I spent a total of 5 hours mining and across the 4 accounts I was running at once, 1 on Windows PC, and 3 on Mac Client. The one on the Windows Machine never once experienced any type of issues. The 3 on the Mac about once every 30 to 40 minutes 1 or 2 of the accounts would freeze. Never all three always 1 or 2. It is a sad day when a game runs more reliably on a Windows PC than it does on a more stable Mac OS X 10.9.3. The Windows machine is a Little 14" laptop I normally just run the Orca driver from since it has the least amount of work once in the asteroid belts. I switched to Mac 5 Years ago to avoid all the constant updates just to have a decent game machine that could handle my gaming desires. It would be nice if like Blizzard, CCP would abandon Wine and develop a dedicated Mac Client much Like Blizzard has done with its MMORPG World of WarCraft, along with Star Craft II and Diablo 3 that all run native Mac OS without an emulator, and those games look so much better on a Mac than games from other manufactures using Wine. |

I think the fact there aren't many native supported Mac games would actually make it a market with less competition and since Eve is already an established product that makes CCP revenues it makes sense. It seems CCP have to work with 3rd party to get cider emulation working.... You'd think CCP could perhaps get some backing from Apple too... |

Note to CCP: You guys reckon this is an issue with multichannel sound cards in general? I don't know exactly how these things work, but would an option on the Audio tab of the menu allowing selection of audio output device/channel be possible? There seem to be drop downs for input/output for voice chat, whereas the game sound appears to be automatically routed to the default playback device... |

The reason for this is due to the "default" security settings in brought in after osx 10.8. I have tried all the other workarounds and fixes but nothing works. after a few hours on google i found a site with the info i needed.
http://osxdaily.com/2012/07/27/app-cant-be-opened-because-it-is-from-an-unidentified-developer/
In order to change the security settings you need to do the following:
1) Launch System Preferences from the Apple nú+ menu 2) Choose GÇ£Security & PrivacyGÇ¥ and then click the GÇ£GeneralGÇ¥ tab, followed by clicking the lock icon in the corner to unlock the settings 3) Look for GÇ£Allow applications downloaded from:GÇ¥ and choose GÇ£AnywhereGÇ¥ 4) Accept the security warning and allow You can now launch any app from any location or developer
I hope this helps other mac users.

UPDATE: after running the game for a while routing my audio through Soundflower, I noticed a high-pitched tone (I'm a sound engineer by trade, so things that sound even slightly like feedback really get on my ****!) I suspected this was to do with there not being a recent update for Soundflower to give Mavericks compatability, so looked for an alternative - it's a bit more rough-n-ready in terms of interface, however JackOSX (http://www.jackosx.com) works a treat & I would recommend giving that a shot if Soundflower gives you trouble.

It's a real PITA if you spend hrs downloading it and forgot to set gatekeeper beforehand... Double humungous download... Should continue from where it's left off! Grrr! |

Hi Epicurus, could you try the following first: 1. If that doesn't work, I have another potential workaround
What is the work around for this? I tried that and it never worked. |

CCP Sledgehammer wrote:Hey everyone.
Hi CCP Sledgehammer!
2 problems, som ppl have as I had Launcher problems, I can ONLY get around that by installing a up to date from dmg image.
Now to my " dual boxing " problem, I don't DB on same user, I use " fast user switching " ish ( or what's it called in English )
Every user has their own .app and own app support folder. For me it is a mather of min before a client crash, not when I try to turn off a client.
And same happens with test eve aka singularity.
This means that cider is fubar on system lvl, as 3 sep users have working " titanic " walls between them. So cider doesn't like competition on the same CPU.

Can't 100% guarantee this will work for you, but I've solved this issue by using Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/) to create a virtual device and route the first two channels of my ProFire 2626 into it. I highly recommend you lot give it a shot :)
Hey Stressor, not sure if it was you contacted me in game, but thanks, yes I've been having some success with JackOSX. |

Dear CCP Devs,:
First Crius patch seems to have mitigated about 99 percent of locking/freezing issues with OSX 10.9 in single and multi-box situations that I had reported previously in Kronos expansion.
Subsequent patches to Crius brought back the same issues, about 2-3 patches into the patch cycles for the expansion approximately.
To refresh what that is exactly, in multi-box scenario's if one client exits normally any other clients all freeze and become unresponsive. In single box scenario it would randomly freeze without explanation, it was very infrequent when only running one client but it did happen.
One or more clients would also freeze in multi-box while others would function normally until I try to kill one of the frozen instances off then all clients freeze, intermittently some instances of the client would not freeze but it was reliably locking up all instances either way. weirdness.
I am looking at the process monitor right now and I see 2 eve online instances when there should only be one, when this sort of shenanigans happens it appear to spawn multiple instances of itself that are linked to same client(s) for unknown reasons. Despite being unresponsive and frozen it does not show high cpu utilization or that the process is a zombie in the process window. The task bar would show multiple clients open for each physical instance of the client, when you click on it 2-3 of them would refer back to one of the few clients that were open (there would be approximately 2-3 for every real instance). It shows up this way in the process monitor as well (not all of them have the same memory footprint of course).
Whatever you did to the first Crius expansion it seemed to address the issue but you broke it with all the follow-up patches, I don't know why.

P.S. CCP Earlendur suggested I file a bug report I am not sure if that goes here or not. |

Is this the official answer to fixing the bad audio since Kronos while using an external audio interface?
Seems like a pretty lame solution to be forced to use my MacBookPro's built in speakers, as opposed to the professional studio monitors I normally use through my RME Fireface UFX audio interface. Really hoping there is a fix for this soon as I miss the great audio I've always experienced prior to Kronos.
