I havent used fraps for quite a while because of the problems ive had in past and would like people to shed some light onto possible reasons.
I used to use it in the hope that i could record and make some kind of video of various un-ganking situations i find myself in regularily but i soon had to knock it on the head.
1. It only really crashed eve to desktop while recording once and someone suggested it might be somthing to do with TS client?
2.The biggest feckup i had with it was when leading ops on a number of occasions it would lead to no-one hearing my orders over TS. Very frustrating to hear shouting of gang m8s back at you not knowing they cant hear you
Im no tecky so plz use kid gloves with helpfull replys chaps.
Maybe its just TS thats the problem and not fraps at all but whatever it is, i keep missing some buetifull fighting

Not sure why, but my EVE freezes if I try to use TS or play any form of multimedia in the background. Thankfully, this is not the case with Fraps, so I have just relegated TS to a second PC.
It all happened when RMR started to interact with my new 64-bit machine.
EVE seems to be selectively, fatally incompatible with a number of pieces of software. I am scared now that you mention Fraps, because who knows what a future patch will bring...

I too have a 64bit processor and i can't run ts with eve, every so often my screen will ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM right out to like 200au away with the whoel solersystem in the middle of the screen, the only way to fix it is to dock, undock, jump out or relog. Ts also makes my fraps all choppy.
So i use ventrillo.

Fraps uses the DirectX overlay to record the screen data. If you're using something like Teamspeak overlay it screws mightly with fraps recording as it also uses the DirectX overlay to write the TS details on screen.
I've had no problems recording 1280x768 fraps at fairly high speed, with Teamspeak running, during a large fleet engagement. I have sound turned off in EVE, EVE runs windowed (on a Athlon 64bit 3500XP), fraps records at full size , 60fps.
Does your hard disk grind like a maniac before EVE crashes? I've had situations before where i've warped into a fully loaded grid (fleet battle), hit the record button as I arrive and the system can't handle it. EVE ctd's with a big hard disk grind before it disapears. I also find I have less trouble when I start fraps at the same time as EVE, rather then turning it on when EVE has been running for an hour or two
