It seems I will need a second black ops BS for logistic duties and I was thinking of using Panther. It's fuel is slightly cheaper than the others and it seems to be able to go pretty reasonable cargo size. So I'm looking for a bit of feedback in regards of the setup of the ship.
What I was thinking of is: H: L smartbomb, 2x heavy energy neut, improved cloak, covert jump portal, cyno, covert cyno, 1x empty slot M: 100mn AF, 100mn MWD, Large micro jump drive, 2x heavy cap booster L: 6x expanded cargo ii (6x istab, 6x WCS in cargo + mobile depot) Rigs: 2x Cargohold optimization. Drones: 5x EC-900, 5x EC-600
Am I missing anything obvious as I have not flown the panther before. Well other than guns ;) - but if I want to drop a ~1 bil hull in combat I'll field a carrier. So this is intended just for bridging or hauling up to 4k package with jump drive.
Or would redeemer be better for that purpose? I have so far used widow for that but it is not particularly good at it. Redeemer could be pushed up to approx 5k cargo space against 4k for panther (plus fuel bay ofc) but it seems to be somewhat less agile and the base speed is much slower as well (not that it matters much for the purposes of this setup).
For Redeemer the setup would be basically the same. Just a flight of heavy ecm instead of 2 flights and only 1 heavy cap injector.
What do you think - which one is the better tool for the job? Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

Have you considered using your Black Ops to bridge Blockade Runners to the destination instead of hauling in the Black Ops? You'll get a lot more cargo moved while risking a lot less ISK on a comedy fit Black Ops hull.
Just a thought. Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.
I don't avoid getting shot, but I do generally avoid getting shot first. |

Yes. It just ties up one extra account during the process (the blocade runner) but is perfectly viable. I will have to calculate fuel costs to see if it is sensible (should be). Would need ofc still 2 blops ships unless I'm keen on jumping with blops after the blocade runner to bridge it back. With 2 ships I can bridge the blocade runner somewhere, then switch the covert cyno in destination into second blops and can bridge the guy back.
For a small package, however, just jumping the blops itself could be less hassle than juggling with additional account.
Which leads me back to the initial question. A panther or redeemer. Can't quite decide but I'm sort of leaning more towards Panther. Just because it is a bit more agile (should I ever need to go through gates) and its fuel is atm approx 20% cheaper.
For bulky stuff will have to pick another tool anyway. Either a carrier or jump freighter depending on what needs to be moved.
This is just for small packages and/or bridging the stealth bomber gangs into their targets. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

I went with Panther. Because of the fuel price difference. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

For your purposes, yes, I'd have to go with a Panther. Slightly less cargo, but the fuel cost savings will likely offset that.
Good luck! Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.
