Title kinda says it all. I have seen numerous stories of some hapless victim ineffectually spluttering threats to the person who just ganked them and how their "400 person, battleship flying, corporation" will hound the pirate to the ends of the universe.
Of course 99% or more of the time it is all bluster and never amounts to anything except perhaps prompting the pirate to war dec the smacktalker.
Still, I would think somewhere, somewhen, someone actually has backed up their smack with action. Just curious if anyone has any stories of a carebear that turned out to have a real and protective Momma and Poppa bear to come to their defense and pound the pirate that dared threaten their fuzzy cub.
That or the carebear was actually an accomplished PvPer that just happened to get caught out in a hauler (or whatever) once and came back to extract vengeance on their own.
Ever happen (even if rare)?

It has. Colonial Navy is a mining op in Placid, mainly newbs. They were getting ganked left and right by a certain Pirate who didn't know they had the protection of Mining Bytes(PvP Corp) So the story goes, when the pirate woke up he found that he had lost over a Billion ISK. This was about a week or so ago. (And yes, there is irony in the corp names being backwards) _____________________________ It's got fangs you know... |

It was like my second or 3rd day playing eve, I joined cause some friend told me about game and they had a corporation in Low sec. I enter my first 0.0 system in a Tristan all of a sudden I see this HUGE Armagedon battleship just start flashing red on me next thing you know my ship and my stuff was destroyed I warped off in my pod Since this was my first ship loss I was kinda ****ed and I talked some smack saying im going to have my friends kill you for that! He shrugged and said fine go ahead. Well I told my friends in corp what happened and sure enuff they warped to the system I was in they warped to gate and started attacking the geddon. At this time I was talkin all kinds of smack in local, my corp mates told me to be quiet, they dont smack in local but I was too excited not to smack talk for them. Well they did kill the Gedon and a couple other of his friends. I felt I made good on my promise. But I have not smacked in local since it is frowned upon in my corp.

I lost a loot ship(a frig) with a couple of local hull expanders in the cargo hold to an interdicator bubble, well simply beacuse I was tired. However I was broke as well and I was ****ed so I came back and killed the flycatcher interdicator, so that cost them 30m later my corpmate killed the other who was in a rupture with t2 guns, during all that time I kept on disrupting their camps I am still only partially satisfied, but it will do for now. However no threats were issued by me(the whole suprise thing), I really need an alt with a locator agent to make the *****s pay further -------------------------------

After a few rounds of pirating we had a corporation threaten to kill us if we ever decided to hurt them again, then we got war deced, then we kicked their asses (we were outnumbered about 30 vs 5 at the time). Needless to the CEO got a bit ticked when we ended up destroying two of his battleships. I love it when carebear corporations think they can hurt you because they have bigger numbers.

Edited by: Kryptic1 on 16/06/2006 02:34:33 I once killed a guy who then followed me through 3-4 lowsec systems in a caracal with a friend in a frig. At that point, I docked and was AFK in station for ~40 minutes while I ate dinner. Came back, and these two guys undocked immediately when I did. The frig got sentrygunned (didn't have killrights), and the caracal had no chance against a heavy blasterax, especially considering the fight started at 8k

Edited by: gfldex on 16/06/2006 08:09:52 A while a go I was testing a Thrasher for surprise PvP. In one of my test runs I poped a Kessy (7 sec to get in fire range and a bit more then 3 sec to pop it after open fire). Two weeks later the guy was convoing me and demanding (demanding, not kindly asking!) to come to him (50 jumps!) so he can get revenge. The convo was quite amusing (at least for me) but was not makeing any sense at the first place. I was rereading it 2 times and the only explanation I found for the nonsense he wrote is that he is (or better was as he is not coming online anymore) some sort of role player without any particular role.
I can remeber some complains (2x my-whole-corp-will-be-after-you, 3x i-will-hunt-you-for-the-rest-of-your-short-eve-live, 1x i-will-get-revenge-when-i-got-better-skills) where ppl stated they will get after me but never ever any of them shared local with me again.
Or like they say dogs that bark wont bite.

Only once, when I started pirating. The day after I killed some guy's ruppy, he convo'd me and asked to have a cruiser duel. I said yes, thinking it would be a laugh. Well, he turns up in the system with 3 of his corpmates (coincidence! he cried ), and well, when i scanned the planet where the duel was to take place I saw a cyclone, 2 intys and a rax (or similar ships, cant exactly remember now) - thats about the closest anyone has ever got to getting revenge on me. -

Most of the people that try to get revenge don't announce it, but that doesn't mean that nobody tries.
Being in a group that was trying to get revenge on pirates (who had attacked friends or corp mates) was actually some of my first PVP experiences.
It's always more fun to fight those that fight back, especially if they have the descency of losing aswell

Revenge takes too much effort as it is... it would be counter productive to warn your target what you intend.
I just accept the loss... add killer to my buddylist and set standing to -10. Then if I happen to come across that person again by chance at an opportune time... I'll act. But I'm not wasting effort chasing ppl down.

I recruited one of the newest members of my corp, because I killed him, then he had the guts to come back, and challenge me again with no real hope of winning, just because he wanted me dead. I respect that, so I recruited him, even let him keep his ship.
There are people out there who will go from victim to agressor, and they are the ones you want to keep around.

Example: After popping some douche of a Prophecy pilot he started saying things like "25mil or I'll pod you"..."25 mil or I'll buy another proph and come fight you for real"
It's hilarious when people think they're in control when in fact they're not.

When I get killed, I deserve it so I rarely take it personally. If I'm being smacked at, however, I might come back. I might of course come back simply out of boredom, too or looking for a good fight, but rarely because of revenge alone.
Not that it isn't occasionally fun to encourage people to revise who they engage, although that leads to less engagements and so to less fun in the long run.
Also, my fights are usually on a contract so if I'm killed and the targets are still about, I'll grab something more suitable and try and hunt them.
Sometimes the people I kill do come back for more, but I don't think I've ever witnessed it happen after a threat. I don't think I've ever been killed in an attempt for revenge either. ---

Needless to say, we lost.
Worth saying: the tank on my dominix lasted a hell of a lot longer than I expected it to, I got my first killmail (with a little help) and had more fun than I've had in ages...
So now we have a policy - hurt us, we'll do our damndest to hurt you back, but even if we end up ganked, we'll be having a hell of a lot of fun doing it!

I had a fun time with a pilot named Agememmnon. I hunted him once and he got away, 2nd hunt I sunk a Raven of his. He gave me a lot of threats "I'm gonna make you regret this... blah blah." He wasn't telling me his buddies were gonna get me, he was telling me he was gonna get me.
So later, he got a ship that he was gonna try to get me in. It was a Caldari Assault (don't remember which) and I was in my force recon. His strategy was good, he got me to attack him when he wanted a fight (I watched him go refit after he saw me in local while I was cloaked) but I guess he forgot that his MWD doesn't work in a complex so he was unable to dictate range like he needed to and lost again. He was really fuming after that. "If you thought things could not get any worse for you... they just did!"
Was a lot of fun but I kinda felt bad, he was brave but just not able to back up his threats. If one day I do lose a fight to a guy I'm hunting (it's very hard to lose when you fly a force recon) I hope it's Agememmnon. He deserves it.

I've done so twice my self in the past.
The first was against the guy who was the first to pod me(pfft smart bombs on a raven.) I hoped into a domi and came right back on got my corpse.
The second was against a lame smack talker who killed my tackling stilleto, then warped off since the other -5 points of scrambling against him weren't enough to hold him. I've got 4 killmails, and about 3 pages of some of the funniest(or sadest depending on your sence of humour) smack around. One day if he forgets to instantly log off when he's tackled I'll get that corpse to...
But as for me. I've had only one person come and seek out retribution. New player, but kudo's to him.

No threats, but a former target of mine did find me in a belt and slaughtered me ruthlessly. I'm still baffled as to how I defeated him the first time (since I'd ransomed him still intact, I'm guessing it was the same setup, and I know I had the same setup). I was dead within seconds! Fortunantly my pod escaped, though in all honesty I don't invest in implants so getting podkilled is a minor nuisance (nearby clone, too). |

TART5 had our first experience with this tonight. The guy got his Stabber popped by one of my pilots, wouldn't pay ransom and got podded. Starts prophecizing our deaths in our ransom channel. He comes back an hour later in a raven. He tries to gank a friend of ours.
We gather 3 cruisers and 3 frigs. Track him down to the same belt. A few minutes later he is down one BS and we lost a cruiser. (I just bought that rupture...primary ftl... ) My guys snag his pod and I come back in my destroyer. He won't respond to ransom demands and logs out. I wait for him to come back and try again, demanding more this time. He refuses again...squish...I'm down to -4.4...
I wonder if he'll come back again...
Quote: info It's not a good idea to place an Exotic Dancer in a Giant Secure Container. The Exotic Dancer will not survive intact, if transported in such a container.
