I am a cruiser pilot just beginning to think about battleships. What is your favorite battleship and why? Thanks!

That's pretty massive damage Jash. Too bad about the RoF. Then again you didn't use any cap to do that and your range is awesome...
For looks I like the Megathron or possibly the Raven. I got to see a Raven decloak and I had a flashback of being a child watching the StarTrek movie. The cloaking was on the chaos server.
For PvP the Scorpion is king with all those mid slots. There is just so much you can do with it.
For PvE and mining the Apocalypse would seen to be the best. You have all those turrets and a bonus to energy weapons. It's nice not to have to keep ammo on hand when in deep space. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

The RoF is tolerable at 13s atm, tho I'm training Minmatar Battleship 4 right now. Then Rapid Fire 4 and 5. So I'll see what happens when those two are done. And those two hits were done at about 30km, the first with EMP L and the 2nd with Titanium Sabot L. Obviously the poor Sansha never got a chance to play with the 1200s. They wreck from about 580-700.
Range-wise, I just wish there were more situations requiring firing from 60km+. Would be worth going 4/4 with cruise missiles and torpedos if there were. Which is why I like the Tempest: long range bombardment

While I'm partial to my Scorpion, If I could have a friend follow me around in any battleship, I'd have them in a Tempest.
Every other battleship has a couple of things they are great for, and 1 or 2 things that they suck at. The Tempest isn't the best ship for any single task, but its always in the top 2 or 3.

Scorpion. It doesn't matter if your opponent deals three times the damage you do, when he cannot get a target lock...
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

The Tempest. Like Jash has already pointed out they're fast becoming the kings of long range damage dealing.
They're not without their faults, but with some decent skills and modules they can dish it out.

Its kind of hard judging which bship I like. But for looks, definetly the megathron.
I also like the Apoc. I havent looked too much into the scorpion so I dont know if I like that ship. Kind of like the idea of the enemy not having a target lock and warp scrambled and webified while I kill them!

Gotta go with the Tempest - projectiles kick more ass than most people think, and you can use all that cap for EW or defensive mods.

Edited by: Other Minion on 27/09/2003 23:02:13 For looks the prize has to go the the Armageddon and Apoc. I don't mean pretty but I mean that b-ship look. The armageddon looks like a battle hardener warship, and the apoc looks like its the emporers personal ship.
But also the Raven looks really good. It has that scifi movie look.
The Dom and the Mega bother look to pretty. Unscratched and all bright and shinny. Look more like toys or parade floats then war machines.

Bah, this isn't water but space. That ship looks bloated. In RL it would be one big target. From all directions it has a large profile. A long slender ship had advantages.

For looks and combat, I like the Dominix because it is a great all around ship.
For mining, I like the Armageddon because it has the best (Mining Power to Cost) ratio.
For pvp, I would be interested in exploring the Ravend and Scorpion. --- ...I came to realize the obviousness of the truth. What is EVE? Control. EVE is a computer generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into a beta tester. |

My favorite is the Megathron becuase its very good combat ship, alright miner, and its the best looking :)
For pure PvP I'd go Raven or Scorpion

I've got an Apocolypse and it's the best buy I've made in game. It's an awesome ship for all round activities deals fantastic damage with all those turrets in action and is a great miner (shame to use it as such).
For pvp though I've just bought a Scorp, those medium slots are amazingly useful.
Raven and Tempest are next on the shopping list though.

It has to be the scorpion.
No other lone ship can win against a well fitted out scorp.
Medium slots rule, and like someone said, all those big guns cant do much if u are jammed.

I love my Apoc except for the capacitor loads. Mega beams and Tachyons drain it quick but skills training is the key to really making any BS a moving arsenal Fun, FUN - Who said this be bloody fun.

I really like my Arm/Apoc because of its damage! but i cant win over a scorp that are good fitted!
But when we go to war we are large battles, then others do the EW with there scorps :D

Well I am surprised just how much damage a Megathron can do at range, just ask Kreator about the battering I gave his Apoc!!! And intesting 1 shot from a neutron took half a corp mates Blackbirds shields, he asked me to stop firing pretty quickly...

Megathron.
Why?
7 425 mm railguns wrecking damage at an optimal range of 50-60 km (even more with modules) every 5-6 seconds.
1 or 2 cruise missile launchers. Kick the baby. (maybe drop a 425 for it).
10 wasps or ogres wrecking havoc. Don't underestimate drones, it still takes some smartbomb shots to take them out, and after that, you just send new drones if your DI isnt on lvl 5 ;)
It's even got room left for weapon upgrades :)
And, as everyone said, it's the best looking :D
