10% tracking per level..I have destroyers lvl 5 :)
25% damage, 50% tracking, 50% range hahah, I fitted this (bare in mind I got lots of ISK, but t1 should do too);
7 X 280MM Howitzer Artillery II 1 X Rocket launcher (rarely gets used tbh) 2 X Sensor Booster 1 X Tracking Computer II 1 X Gyrostabilizer II 1 X Micro Auxillary powercore
its uber, I mean, I actually feel comfortable flying a t1 destroyer in PVP :D
I get 100-150 a shot with quake loaded....it will hit intercepters @ 15-20KM, and I wreck for about 350-400.
It will insta pop frigates in fleet battles, and locks a pod in one second :D

its a very nice ship!
i often wonder what a gang of 10 of those would be able to do, i think they can instapop BS, their burst damage is so high! if not instakill, second shot should do it
and thats with frig guns that can track any size of ship
imo only destroyer worth flying is the thrasher

SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....
Don't tell anyone, it might get nerfed.
Anyway, it's also great using autocannons. _________________________________________________________

Personally i love my Cata but one day when i eventually go minmatar ill take a thrasher for a spin.
Alot of people think destroyers are worthless but all of them are very effective if you fit them properly.

with AWU5 and no RL you can fit 7 280mm IIs and 2 gyrostabs

Thats evil hahaha
Thats something to aim for tbh, destroyers are so helpful in a gang of 8+

Thats a nice setup....I might try bringing those along in the next gang op I'm in. Havent flown a Dessy in a good long time, and they are cheap as much afterall.

my cormo can snipe inties at 80km. but you need 25M isk :)

Using ECM to kill someone doesn't count in the "my ship is better than yours" competition. The thrasher could just as easily fit 2 ECM and it would be a case of who jams first.

Edited by: Cadiz on 21/06/2006 13:55:11 A friend of mine was getting wrecking hits for 380+ with his t2-fitted Thrasher firing Tremor. He was doing this at 30 - 40km, too - the intys in the enemy fleet we were slogging against at the time must've loved him.
The Thrasher is probably the best of the destroyers due to the nature of the role and the particular nature of artillery, but all dessies are (in my opinion) more for fleet work than small group combat. They've got good range for their size and excellent volley damage but poor survivability, so they perform best in an environment where other targets will be called before them and they can concentrate on neutralizing other ships in their approximate "weight class".
In that particular role, they're brilliant vessels. For many other combat circumstances...eh, perhaps not so much.

In that case, it would be even easier, since 7*280 howitzers II would "jam" a griffin easily, and 2 sensor boosters would give you a faster lock ... _

Its a very nice ship for its role, but very squishy and slow. If you don't have AWU V you can fit 2 gyro IIs by swapping out one 280 II for a 250 II (works with AWU IV, and maybe less). I just wish they weren't so easy to kill.
PS: You use quake in it? I've done that in just the right situation, but it barely moves with 7x quake.

The Sabre has a lot of differences between it and the thrasher. For one it doesn't have the 50% range bonus. It has a falloff bonus instead. It also loses a lot of powergrid making it an autocannon boat instead of arty. But it does lose the 25% rof penalty and is "supa fast" and powerful.

Comorants a better sniper than harpy imo, doesnt look as cool, but has the same range bonus and I get 110KM optimal on harpy if I set it as a dedicated sniper...not that I can get a 100KM targetting range on harpy without reducing the optimal..which is pretty pointless heheh.
But I am sure with 3 active sensor boosters, a tracking comp, 7 150 t2 with spike and whatever in the last high and an MAPC on the comorant..it has real potential..probably get the same range, but with a nasty 50% tracking bonus..
Only now have I realised destroyers full potential.

Sorry for double post, but in answer to your question;
I barely try to move with artillery, thats just me, I beleive artillery boats should be stationery when firing.
So for me my warp in position is normally my camping one, the quake velocity penalty means nothing to me tbh.

I love my Thrasher too. With a 10mn AB2 and nano's it really makes a great shuttle! That's what I really fit when I'm flying it, just shoot me to find out!

Good for shooting down t1 frigates but I wouldn't try it against an interceptor. You'll take em to 1/2 HP in one volley, and won't hit ever again. Then you die in about 10 seconds.
Now that may all be different with some fancy T2 ammo. ____ "If your not dyin' your not tryin'." "Are you prepared to go all the way, Alexi?" DuGalle |

I liek the cormy better tbh, doesn't have near the alpha that a thrasher has, but the ability to **** an intie from between 20 km optimal with 125 mm antimatter, or jump throw spike ammo in and star seirously huting inties from 80km+ is nice. :)

That's nice, but the interceptor will close that 15-20KM in the time it takes for you to lock. The interceptor now orbits you at 2KM at speeds in excess of 4KM/s. You need a tracking speed of 2.0 to hit something moving that fast, that close.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Thrasher, but with artillery you are harmless to all but the dimmest of interceptor pilots. Now autocannons will put a hurting on interceptors, but only if they are brave enough to get close.

There's a lotta truth in there, though you stand a decent chance to instapop an inty in a trasher (done it a couple of times)
However, dessies work better in gangs 8) _
