A long time ago I lived deep in Paragon Soul well pretty much no such thing as small scale PvP existed, rather just gank fleets or ebil sansha rats. I eventually ended up making the move from there to the far more interesting Curse/Cac region where the pvp and exotic dancers were a plenty. In the past many of my greatest wins and greatest losses happened in the area of the HED pipe but I know it was always fun win or lose.
IÆve lost a Cerb while solo camping SV5 with just a medium bubble to a 30 man bob fleet. IÆve engaged in numerous small scale cruiser battles. IÆve chased an insta-ing blockade runner 12 jumps with my 7 man int gang cursing on Vent as were unable to ever catch it. IÆve looted overseer belongings from noob ships and IÆve run into FedorÆs anti frig geddon(I think) numerous times.
IÆve always had fun in the pipe, its like a lil mini syndicate where you can always go to find a lil bit of solo or small gang pvp action, whether its engaging a camp or fighting roving gangs. Lately though ive noticed a disturbing trend by some alliances to fly around with 50 man gangs and try to set gank traps. In my opinion this just isnÆt FUNàthis isnÆt what the pipe was meant to be. Obviously your choke points are going to be camped all the timeàbut by flying around in blobs that big youÆre pretty much guaranteeing you wont get a fight. Last night flying around in the pipe in a solo caracal I tried to engage another caracal and 2 ints just for ****s and giggles! Well wouldnÆt you know everyone runs away from me after exchanging a few blows and I warp off just as a 20 man gank fleet jumps in. IÆm not complaining as if thatÆs how you want to play thatÆs your deal but please donÆt complain about how you get no fights and then smack. I almost cried last night when I saw 2 domis eager to face down a tempest and domi (who ran as fast as they could despite being in a pvp op) have to safe when the not fun blob comes along without even firing a shot.
This is a little bit of a rant I suppose but I miss the good old days when I could just fly up and down the pipe and find some good fun action. So I plea to you in the areaàbring out your small gangs and kill me! Leave your large gank fleets at home one night this week and take a spin out solo or with just a few buds and a few beers! DonÆt worryàIll be waiting.
p.s. flame or not post your good pipe stories or not. Eve-O forums always amuse me @ work

I find it a bit ironic that you would complain about people bringing too-large gangs in the same post as you talk about chasing a defenseless blockade runner with 8 interceptors.

Urm, i think you will find that alliances fly around HED in big fleets for the purpose of clearing it of people like you.
I believe you miss the point entirely of their fleets, not all are there to gank people for fun, the HED pipe is a strategic place for many people and alliances will fly around to make way for their assets or whatever.
Think they will let you sit there and gank their alliance mates and industrialists? Of course not, so they send out large fleets to clear it. If you dont like it, go somewhere else.  Im sure there are other places to do your pirating.

Umm why is this labeled the good old days, your story took place yesterday pretty much. Good old days= ca v xf/sa, and there were no such things as hac's in the good old days.

I couldn't agree more, getting a decent fight these days is a hard thing to do. We are all guilty of using bait tactics, even myself.

It's amazing how often you can solo up and down the pipe due to this misconception or am I decieving you now? 
I just have to say that not every large gang that goes up and down the pipe is for the people safed when they pass through.

Either I am the most provocative pvp'er ever...or this didnt all happen yesterday...not to mention my "good old days" may not be the same as yours?

kk there is this really cool thing that people use every now and then, its called sarcasm. I didn't actually mean yesterday just saying when you refer to good old days in hed most would refer to ca/xf/sa etc.

Lately every time I go to HED or the area I end up getting (rather blatantly) baited by some tard with loads of WCS or theres a Blob of 18~ BS on the other side of the gate. (hi FoFF)
I really don't consider those tactics fun (at least on that scale), just good for ISK really.

I still fly up and the down the pipe plenty, either solo or with a small gang going somewhere. Just 2 hours ago I had a 1 v 1 against a Huzzah ceptor pilot.
Then again, a 15 man RAT flet flew through there a few minutes later with bait hanging around, so it's all happening I suppose !

As you can see it tends to be a trend that people are seeing blobs so blob up themselves although a lot of the time small group vs small group happens. This morning logged on and had a nice couple of skirmishes with FIX in v2-vc2, both sides lost some ships, both sides killed some ships, was most fun, all small group stuff.

Rarely got good fights in HED but a few I do remember, once against a Hmmmzor rupture and 1 against Ephermeron.
Usually off peak time tho just before or after downtime.
Otherwise there wasnt a hope in hell of getting a decent fight :p

I would like to thank the ISS Navy. You guys allow us to train our newer pilots to train on pvp, safely. You allow us to train our newer pilots on how to escape your 50 man gate camps, safely. Also, I dont want the ISSN to think I'm talkin about just my corp, but just about anyone who kills ISS. Thanks again though, you guys make me proud.

Nah he didnt. I encountered the huginn + a taranis 13 km from me in my osprey after uncloaking from a jump. using 1600mm plate and 280mm arties + assault launcher, i engaged the huginn with explosive ammo + drones. After his shields fell, he went down fairly quick.
I killed him just as he got outta my scram range and began to warp. Was more luck than anything, and yes...he happened to be fully t1 fitted.
About 20 minutes later, i was killed by a crow using missiles just out of my arty range, it took about 4 minutes, and he was another member of RAT. The taranis i engaged earlier with the huginn retreated after the huginn popped and i sent my drones + missile at him.
Was a fun fight, and one of those odd encounters.
