BIG will once again host betting for the Alliance tournament.
I was planning to have a website ready with detailed tournament info ontop of the betting etc, once the contestants and schedules where announced.
This is going to be delayed a little bit due to the recent changes to the tournament style.
But thankfully theres plenty of time this time around 
While I get the altered site knocked together, I would very much like some input on just what kind of betting you all would like to be able to make.
Atm I have the following planned.
A : Straight out bet on who the winning team is going to be (just like last time)
B: Bet on who will win each group
C: Bet on who will make it to round 2 (#1 & #2 from each group goes through to round 2))
D: Bet on who will make it to the quarter finals (last 4 teams standing)
E: Dream team. Set your own team (I hope to get the pilot info).
Each pilot *has* to be from a different alliance (that way you cant just "copy" the team you think will win - Should make it a bit more interesting).
Points will be awarded to each pilot of the team based on the fights they participate in (the exact details on how to do this is not completly set in stone yet - So I'm very open to suggestions)
Whoever ends up with the highest scoring dreamteam - wins the pot.
Due to the tournament running over two weekends, there will be two betting pots for bets A & D.
An "early" and a "late" pot (for both A and D)
To enter in the early pot, your bet has to be made before round 1 starts.
For the late pot, you can make bets up until round 2 starts (and you'd most likely want to wait until round 1 has ended  )
Any other wishes/ideas?
(you'll have around 4-5 days from now until I need to have everything finalized - Which is also the time when LeMonde will finalize the teams etc)
Once the site is ready - The link will get posted here.
Id like to point out once more that the site, apart from the betting, hopefully will end up beeing the #1 resource on details about the tournament and the fights (What ship did pilot X fly in match Y, and did he survive or not - that kinda thing, and more)

I think by D you mean semi-finals since 8 teams make it to quarter finals 
What I really want is to be able to bet on individual matches.
Any way you (or anyone) could swing that ?

Yaeh.. And I'd love to be able to offer it as well.
The problem is, not very many actually bet... (I've been doing this a couple of times already so I know...)
Meaning you'd most likely end up with having no counterbet against your bet (and any given individual game).
And thus, couldnt win any ISK anyhow, as we cant do this "odd's based", as setting up the odds for each an every fight really isnt viable for various reasons.
So we have to try and keep the bets to stuff where the chance of bets/counterbets are the greatest.

I'd bet the farm against Fountain Alliance when they face The Red Skull in round 1...

I'll gladly take your bet.
But as I mentioned in my last post (perhaps it wasnt very clear) I cant give you any odd's as such.
For you to actually win any ISK on that particular bet, it requires that someone bets against you (ie. is betting on someone else to top the group).
Should no one make a counterbet - You'll simply get your ISK back.
Then ofc - Someone just might bet against you seeing just how much they could win (if you bet 500M) on the off chance an upset would happen
ISK you'd then win (possible split with others making the same bet), if youre right about your bet.

I've kinda been putting it of, as I've been trying to figure out a way to make it possible.
No luck I'm afraid... (hence the delya, as I'd have prefered to say "But ofc")
I simply cant gurantee that we'll have people around for the duration of all the fights, to take on such bets.

Hmmm... I'll try to come up with a diff way of explaining it..
It's tricky though.. since we offer several kinds of bets and not just the "who will win it all"....

Correct.
Due to the different deadlines for making the bet.
Bet (2)'s you can in theory wait making until you know all the teams who will move on from the groups (ie. once the groups "scores" are settled") - Thus "narrowing down the field" a bit (alot)
Not to mention, by then youll have much more facts (by, say watching EVE-TV) to make your call on.

How about a little javascript calculator (or, better yet, an IGB-compatible form) to help people ensure they're sending the right amount of isk? I know I had to triple-check my number before sending it and I had to flip between two or three pages and between Eve and Firefox to do so.
And is there any way we can get a bet confirmation or some other means to make sure our money didn't vanish into the ether? You've got tens of millions of isk from me and I'd like to make sure it's in the right pool.

Current pool (of all bet types) as at 412M ISK
Not nearly enough to make it really exiting imo...
Having a sticky in events forum just dont get as many reads as having one in the corp forum as OZ has.
(OZ is taking bets as well - On winning team only though - Which probably also makes it a bit easier for ppl to figure out how to make their bet)
I'd like to 'pimp' the dreamteam betting a bit.
Sofar only one dreamteam has been made - and with a hefty 50M ISK bet as well.
Now - With just a *little* bit of care, it should be pretty easy to come up with a dreamteam yourself, who'd stand a pretty good chance of beating that other team (as theres only the one sofar)

Remember that it is still possible to make bets with BIG betting.
We have special bets that can be played up until the start of the 2nd round - Including betting on who you think will win.

Could you clarify something about the rules? In your example you state:
"If your bet is 900K ISK, and the sum of counterbets is 1M ISK then your winnings would be 1M ISK - 100K ISK (10%) = 900K ISK. In this case excactly your ISK back."
Do you mean you get 900K winnings and your original 900K bet money back? Or would BIG be pocketing 53% of the total cash in this bet? |

Is there any way I can correct my bet? The group I bet on has made it to the final, and I want to make sure that putting a 1 instead of a 2 doesn't invalidate my bet. The date reflects correctly which type it should have been though. Anything I can do?
