Edited by: Cyclops43 on 25/06/2006 10:25:17 I run L4 missions in Caldari space, and really I can't believe the amount of complaints (whining...) I hear in both Local and this forum about last tuesdays patch. When I get down to the core of them all, they're all focused on Infiltrated Outposts getting balanced. This was a change that have to happen, but nobody seems to recognise all the GOOD things that were done for L4 (maybe other levels too) mission runners in the same update.
Some of these improvements are:
Replacing a number of Cruisers and Frigates with Battlecruisers and Destroyers This has the following huge advantages: a. Higher bounties. b. Dies way easier than the ships they replaced. 1 cruise salvo for me to take out DD's, and 2 (max 3) for BC's. c. Many of the cruisers replaced were the (never to be sufficiently cursed) target jammers!
New versions of some missions These are generally more difficult versions, or complete remakes of older missions. New content is always good :-)
Loot tables changed I have no scientific proof of this, but my feeling is that the loot tables have been tweaked to provide loot of a slightly higher quality, but less quantity. This could also just be the effect of having BC/DD's instead of Cruisers/Frigates.
Cap on LP per mission seems to have been relaxed Before the patch, the maximum number of LP I could get from an L4 mission was 4467. After the update it is 5050. This is a 13% increase in the LP we get for the toughest missions people. This is a HUGE boost towards getting that CN Raven!
I do however, have a couple of issues with the changes that should probably be considered:
Mission difficulty Some of the new versions of the missions are a bit difficult. It might just be that I need to get used to them, but my feeling is that a new L4 mission runner might have some difficulty surviving some of them. On the other hand, he really should run his first ones with someone else :-)
Mission payout Since BC/DD's pay better than the ships they replace, and are easier to kill, plus an absense of a lot of target jammers, it is much easier to earn money from missions. The effect of this might be to pump more ISK into the EVE economy, something I don't really think is a good thing (I'll probably be flamed to death now). The EVE economy already has some signs of having too much money available, so it might be something to consider.
Comments welcome, but keep it civil!!!
