Are there any ships / fits that it makes sense to use one of these? It seems like their fitting cost is way to high when considering you can use a cap recharger for about the same benefit - for example a cap recharger II gives 20% recharge bonus and takes up 15cpu and 1pg, while a medium cap battery II gives a flat 420gj bonus to capacitor while costing 75cpu and 75pg. In most situations it seems like the two modules will provide similar cap life but the cap recharger is way, way easier to fit especially on armor ships that are typically tight on PG.
The neut/nos protection seems trivial as it is too small to save you from being neuted out at 10% neut and 20% nos protection.
Anyone have success using these modules on a particular ship/fit or for a particular purpose? |

when making a cruiser cap stable a cap battery can be better than a cap recharger.
I just looked in EFT that was apparently from ages ago before the hac rebalance, the example fit (dual rep ishtar) I was going to show is cap stable even when you take the cap battery off the fitting. so maybe there is a case or two on a tech 3 ship? or a new case I'm not going to think about looking for right now on a hac? You can trust me, I have a monocole |

They don't grant nos or neut protection, they back-neut your attacker for a flat rate, making it possible for your own attacker to neut himself out. For PVE, they grant a massive amount of cap regen to T3 cruisers, much better than a cap recharger. |

Well in some cruiser fits Large capacitor battery II can make the ship cap stable. Example: if you going for a drones Vexor you dont need 4x t2 guns so you can fit 1 battery. |

On my RR Legion I fit two batteries to prevent neuting and get myself near 5k GJ of cap. Really wonderful mod |

As others have stated, fitting a large on a cruiser improves your cap level more so than a cap recharger would. This is mainly due to the fact that a large battery is a "large" battery, ergo it's not dissimilar to mounting a 100mn ab to a cruiser in the sense that you're fitting a larger module than intended for that ship size. The fitting requirement in terms of PG and CPU reflects that as well, but if you can fit it without too much trouble, it's more preferable.
Also, for clarification, a Large Battery gives you 12.5% and 25% resistance to neuts/nos respectively where as a medium only provides the 10% and 20%; not much more over a medium, true, but it's arguably better than nothing at all IF it's a large for a cruiser. A Medium on a cruiser is if'y at best and you are likely better off with a recharger instead in that case. |

On my PvE Ishtar I use a cap battery to stay stable where a cap recharger wouldn't work.
For PvP the neut/nos bonuses are actually pretty neat to have as most neut and nos ships are never prepared to deal with a ship that has them. |

Large batteries give better stability than rechargers on Battlecruisers and some Cruisers.
Stability is overrated for the majority of missions though. |

yeah but, the drawbacks of batteries normaly outweighed their usefulness in my experience, there are some niche fittings for sure im unaware of. |

On Cruisers you often can fit at least a Medium Battery. The thing with them is this:
The LOWER the capacitor of the ship you fit em, the BETTER it is. It's like a Shield Extender, but for Cap. So on a BC or BS, they're ****. On a frig you can't fit them properly. Leaves you with cruisers :) |

Carriers can refit there mids into all cap batteries when being neuted and in triage. A bhaalgorn will drop your cap so fast that cap rechargers make no difference. I did the math a while back, but something like 4/5 Cap batteries means the Bhaalgorn is neuting himself more than he's nueting you - which in turn means whoever is feeding him cap is getting neuted as much as the ship he's neuting.
Also Logicistics ships love them. The Scimitar is barely ever in range of a cap transfer, this module is a life saver for it. |

Stability and endurance for a number of T2 ships, that otherwise would have capacitor issues. These ships generally have plenty of spare CPU in most fits, and adding in an oversized battery can make a huge difference. It is very tricky to fit a Medium Capacitor Battery II on a frigate or destroyer, but if it does fit, the difference can be massive, similarly a Large Capacitor Battery II on a cruiser can be a life saver.
For instance, fitting a Large Capacitor Battery II on a Sacrilege gives it terrific cap endurance for it's already phenomenal tank.

On the vast majority of ships, a cap battery would need to have from 2 to 3 times MORE cap bonus than they currently have to be worth the slot and fitting. "If brute force does not solve your problem..... -áthen you are -ásurely not using enough!" |

And that now is irrelevant because of how NOS work on bhaalghorns :P "If brute force does not solve your problem..... -áthen you are -ásurely not using enough!" |

Not really, Cap batteries reflect twice as much Nos as they reflect for Neuts. In a fleet the Bhaalgorn is fed capactior from his own fleet to dump as much cap as quickly as possible on the target (to stop super caps jumping/Tanking or dreads from shooting). Maybe 1 or 2 Nos would be on a Bhaal incase it gets neuted with the new changes, but it will predominantly use Neuts to cap things out quickly while they try to coast out of siege/triage. |

I like the large battery II (meta batteries don't reflect) on any ship that needs cap help AND is a target for being neuted.

It won't cure being neuted, but it's nice to be able to give a little love back when you're being nueted. |
