GM Arkanon has authored a new Dev Blog and included in it is an update on the current petition queue, a look at the new petition system, an introduction of new GMs, and a promotion, all tinged with a hint of madness. I've always been told a person has to be slightly mad to be a GM, the blog reenforces that belief.

Quote: The new system is still looking very promising and will without a doubt bring on a new Golden Age of customer support, where petition replies will rain upon our players like manna from heaven, possibly before they even send in their petitions. Hooray!
Why do I somehow imagine someone flying around ratting in their battleship and a GM window pops up "Heres the ship reimburstment for a Megathron you're about to ask for" the player thinks "huh?!" and then crashes to desktop and gets killed by rats. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

The GMs are ridiculously useless. Even ignoring response time, there is no consistency, a low level of game knowledge, and generally not giving a damn. People in the same gang can petition the same problem and all get different answers. Not to mention some groups of players always seem to get preferential treatment. |

Petitions are quite sensitive to people, specially when losing capital ships or navy ravens to unexpected lag. People must be crazy to work as GM's. I think GM Panic is the best name yet.

First I wanna say : zOMG! Oveur replied to me!!! hehe Second, yes they are essentially about the old system going away being replaced by the new system which made old petitions go PooF! I just thought it was all related. Nevertheless, new petition put in with new system, I just copy/Paste from the emails I got from the old system. No new emails have come in yet from the new system, waitin to hear back. patiently.

Well that's great except it means that the whole issue has covered the extent of my soon to run out free trial so that's a little frustrating to send in something over a week ago that would affect my choice about whether to keep playing and to pay for it or not, and know it probably won't be answered until I've already had to decide if I should keep playing and/or to pay money (as opposed to isk) for it. So... /:
It wasn't related to getting any sort of reimbursement.

You can reactivate your account any time. I don't think your trial account will be deleted for at least another six months. ccp hasn't deleted any paid accounts unless they've been banned, but that's another story. Pilots coming back after two years and more ain't rare. --*=*=*--

All I can say is
A new petition system, new GM's and a return to normal responce times. I guess that mus be great.
In all my years of playing EVE all I have ever had to deal with the GM's is two petitions and a unxepected returning of several ships due to lag. (Didn't even notice it I was AFK at the time an when I came back my POD was there and my ship was gone. Just happened to happen 3 times in two days ) ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

I have a simple question... one may think its slightly ironic... but do consider it...
'I know that there are a lot of unanswered petitions at the moment and we will, as usual, do our utmost to get this situation under control and return to normal service standards as soon as possible'
Given that we have had service response of at least 2 weeks on average for the last year... and a number of promises since then to return to normal service time...
Could you define 'normal' in somewhat more specific terms ? Otherwise I fail to see how 6 months from now we will be able to judge the success of yet again another promiss to return to normal service...

Currently are petitions anonynmous ? If Not could they be ?
My point is that GMs, ISD's etc... are players in the game, And despite trying to be professional (happens in the work place to) Grudges can affect someones judgement. And it would be a shame to be denied a positive petition outcome purely because the Person responding to the petition has a problem with the Player/Corp/Alliance ?
Just a thought.

ISD do not answer petitions, only GMs. Which means doing them properly is their job. Would you risk your job, and any possibility of any further work in the sector ever again, for an in-game grudge?
Besides, how are the GMs supposed to do their job without knowing who has submitted the petition?
"XX is sending me abusive evemails" isn't much use if you don't know who's inbox to check to see the mails there.
"Help, my POS has detached from it's moon" isn't much use if you don't know who's POS it is, and where. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Sorry a thread I just created got locked because I was spamming and I'm hoping it belongs here since this is about the new petition system which I hope helps, but I fear it might be to late since I have already lost many friend do to the old system.
Issues I have experienced with the old:
First off a while back I filed a petition, sent many e-mails back and forth which is good, at least they were responding but I had this impression that they were not reading the whole E-mail. The GM kept stating the same thing which made no since because of what I had stated in my pervious E-mail so I just gave up. The petition was not a huge deal anyway.
Next a good friend in Eve had an unfortunate loss in Eve which really set him back. The loss was due to issues with Eves; new patch bugs, lag, and ectą My friend was pretty much grounded because of this lose because he had sunk much of what he had into what he lost. He either never received a response or the response came too late and he left.
The last issue is related to the news we got about the Key loggers. Well just before this news came out a friend got hacked, not a key logger just got hacked. CCP asked if my friend if he had downloaded anything that could be a 3rd party program and my friend replied stating that no he has never downloaded anything except a patch for eve once because it did not auto patch. Their response was to the affect he is lucky they do not bane him for using 3rd party programsą.!!!! Ahhh he doesnĘtą. CanĘt you read GMĘs? So needless to say my friend is a little put out on this kind of response and will most likely cancel his account unless CCP comes to their senses and actually reads the petition and tries to do some thing for him instead of jumping to conclusionsą oh he must be using a 3rd party programą
What I understand is that there are people trying to take advantage saying that their stuff was stolen when it has not or when they never had it to begin with.
So will this new system Help GM's read(I know harsh but sorry its how I feel at the moment)? Also with my friend who got hacked you know your wallet has a journal. Well it shows all the 10 minute old characters that the isk was treasured to... CCP could look up those characters Ban them, get the isk see who they transferred the isk too and get my friend his 100Ęs of missions of isk back and not say he is downloading something he has not.
I love Eve but I hate seeing friends I play eve with leave. I just hope this new system works so I can keep some friends on eve.

New system, new kinks. Give it a bit of time to settle in. And, Murphy's Law (or whatever it goes by elsewhere) generally loves hanging around new technology.
And... something every important when speaking in shorter and cheaper terms...
Always rememeber that 364 days is shorter than a year.
Always remember that $999.99 is cheaper than $1000.
It could be quicker than two weeks, but that could still mean 13 days. --- --- --- ---

thought people might be intrested in this.
Recieving Illegal isk is now a permabannable offense without any warning. Despite the fact you have no control over who puts isk in your wallet.
So any GTC scammer can simply wire you the isk resulting from the scam and you will be permabanned without warning, and face a firing squad of GM's who don't seem to listen to you.
so yeah, I'm kind of bitter, if you haven't noticed quite yet.

Alas it is seeming that Eve is becoming less and less playable as time goes by.
Exploiters outnumbering 'players' in Empire... macro miners, escrow scammers, time card cheats, ect ect ect.
Players leaning on exploits in 0.0 to 'win'... login traps, their own macro mining operations, crying rivers because not enough unarmed ships jump into their choke point ganks.
A petition system that simply does not work.
*sigh* And it was such a good game before 50k macro mining & ISK pharming accounts were created. Server bloat caused by half of the active logins using those macros to strip every belt within reach.

It's really not as much about the isk, as it is the person or persons who stole the isk. I can always make the isk back the same way I made it in the first place. But what I really want to see is the person or persons responciable for this delt with harshly, and not responded to as a cheater. That's one of the reasons I started playing EVE was that cheating was, or was suppossed to be delt with by dealing with the person cheating, not players who do not. It all comes down to fun really, we all play games to have fun, but some people play to make money or to see how they can ruin someone elses fun. Most online game end up being like that and I was hoping EVE would be different.
I was told that the person or persons responciable for the rash of EVE isk stealing and account hacking will be delt with. But what I want to know is, will this be how they will respond to all complaints now and in the future? If so I might have to look into playing something else, or maybe start selling everything I have from EVE such as accounts, ships isk and such on eBay to get back some of what I have put into this game LOL . Just kidding, thats all I need is to try to sell something from EVE on eBay and really get my acounts banned.

I posted a reimbursement petition three days ago through the in-game structure. After reading through the reimbursement policy and the reimbursement-related articles on the EVE Online website, I have found the subject of automated responses or confirmations to be both obscure and at variance.
I never received any form of response for submitting the petition, I am curious if I was supposed to. Could someone be so kind to clarify if a reimbursement petition normally warrants automated reaction or confirmation?
I mind the hindrance, as disparaging as it was to my gameplay, exercising my capacity of patience, because I understand how monotonous petitions can be, especially when compounded with such a neoteric system. I just do not fancy squandering two weeks of composure only to discover the petition was never procured.
Thank you.

I have a reimbursement petition in as well... strap in your seat and get ready to wait a long time... they take between 2-3 weeks on average...and that's the 'normal' time its taken for the last year or so...
Anything but harrassement and stuck petitions take for ever to draw GM attention ...
With reimbursement it compounds the problem as usually by the time the GM do give you 2 minutes of attention (its not uncommon for them not even to read your full explanation before replying) the event is 3 weeks old meaning searching logs etc is harder and takes longer...
No GM has ever answered my question as to how long logs of events in Eve are kept for... server logs I mean not client logs...

They ported the R&D lottery code to the petitioning system and call it an improvement?
Or has petitioning become as exciting as doing the new and better missions? Giving a whole new meaning to the term grinding?
But where can GM put THEIR petitions about the new petitioning system?

CCP needs to get into the real world of customer support / services.
Now you have a new system to manage petitions, why dont you publish an SLA (Service Level Agreement) so that we as your customers are fully aware of what we as customers can expect.
Also with an SLA should come penalties for non compliance, CCP need to relalise that they need to treat their customers as customers and not 20,000 computer geeks without a life
Come on CCP sort your customer services department out.

Does your corporation require a post minimum per hour so that you can stay in the corporation? Or do you have some weird glitch where you cannot type more than once sentence at a time per reply, cause it appears you have posted at least ten individuals replies within the past twenty minutes to the General EVE Discussion forum alone.
Do you work for those companies that post ****graphic and gential enhancement advertisements on forums? If not, try http://monster.com.

Why was the sticky for this topic removed? Was it to hide the fact that the new system does not work?
I still have not heard of anyone that has even received an automated response from the new petition system. I submitted a 10 day old petition into the new system 2 weeks ago and I have not received any response at all. It is not like we can submit petitions about the new petition system that is not working. So how are we going to get this fixed?

Some practical ways to improve petition response times (by reducing the amount of useless petitions):
- Add refundable cost to make a petition. Like you lose 12 hours of training time from your main char if the petition is deemed to be inproper, that is lacking enough info, or on subject that is covered by no-reimbursement-policy.
- Declare clear stance that some of petition types will not lead to reimbursements. That is, no compensations for lag losses, scam issues or on hacking cases (regardless of the way) etc.
-Lasse who feels he's seen too much 'doh, lost my ship, I'll try petition it anyway'-attitude

Still can't play the game for more then 30-40mins max now, this isn't even a joke now.
Can't mine or take part in any ops because of this. The support on this game is even worse then EA, really not a happy puppy.

Nice to see I'm not the only one with these problems. Petitioned not well over a minth ago - under old system.Nothing but automated replies - or please restate your case (depite the fact its all there below if they would only read it). Also 2 weeks after starting question, about a week or so after petitions started it all again - I went on holiday - and informed customer support (there's a misnamed organisation if ever there was one) that I would have very limited internet connectivity (ie public computers) for a month - PLease don't send me a 48 hour reply email . Their next email was ... reply in 48 hours, and surprise surprise they ended the petition - now I have started again (gave them the details etc - still no coherent response - I too believe they often don't read the whole thing - if anything of these petitions. Will we get a response - I doubt it, compensation - I doubt it, a workable customer support - not likely. Could CCP run a **** up in a brewery - I doubt it.

Edited by: Joseph Boeing on 21/07/2006 21:27:28 I don't post here despite playing for almost a year and a half, because personally I don't care for the opinions of most ppl who post here, given the average maturity level of some of the even older adults in this game. Since this forum is basically used(more so than others) to beat one's chest and look smart in front of the other kids, I take little interest in posting here. This post is not 'for show'.
I see alot of whining and griping and complaining on these forums. Lots of little kids, so happy that they get a chance to speak up somewhere that they forget they don't know a thing about how the real world works yet.
This isn't one of those cases.
My little dream is that some Developer/GM/ISD might read this exact post, print it and take it to someone at CCP who really is willing to give 5 minutes towards taking responsibility for how poor the customer experience is for Eve Online players recently. My dream is he reads this, and does something, big or small, to make things alittle better, because honestly having seen everyone's dilemna and my own, this is the worst case scenario for thousands of PAYING CUSTOMERS to be treated in such a way. It really is not making a mountain out of a molehill; this often is the sort of thing that previously has caused mass customer exodus. $180 a year is damn sure enough money to expect to be treated fairly and with respect.
This is a very legitimate beef that CCP's customers have. Leaving a CUSTOMER(don't forget thats what we are, customers, not just gamers but customers who don't HAVE to spend money on a broken product and bad customer support) to wait 2 weeks for their support request to be answered?? Wake up CCP, in the technical support industry, that is NEVER DONE. NEVER. And your system does not even send an autoreply, to let your customer know their petition has been filed and in the queue? Again. NEVER DONE. I don't want to hear another word of excuse for these actions; this is simply one thing. Disrespect. Disrespect to your paying customers because perhaps you think we are all so addicted to your little space drama that we will all pay indefinitely to be part of it regardless how disrespectful GM's treat us when they do(if they do) ever get around to answering a petition, which the VAST majority of the time, started with a flaw in your product.Again...WAKE UP.
I realize that creation, new content, new projects like China, those are the FUN things to do. And that petitions, ISD, forums moderation, bug fixes, testing and testing new content to make sure it WORKS and is USABLE before its released, isnt fun. Its WORK. I dare say HARD WORK(not in a sweat breaking sense probably, but certainly a mentally taxing and stressful CHORE). I get that. However, you are a company, we are your customers, quit thinking of it as you are a GAME and we are PLAYERS. We are paying customers and deserve to be treated with RESPECT.You are a company and HAVE to go to WORK sometimes, fun or not. It is a JOB. You have to hold yourself to a standard that other industries would. You are no different.
The situation is simple: Eve has finally grown large enough in playerbase where a fundamental choice has to be made at CCP: are we focusing on customer loyalty or customer growth? Are we able to do both? If we do not have the manpower to do both, do we hire more manpower? If we do not, do we squeeze one to satisfy the other? Welcome to the primetime. These are the decisions you have to make now and its a *****. I can see as many others do, that clearly the initial decision was squeeze technical support to man the new projects, its no coincedence this is happening as Kali and Eve-China are right around the corner. I understand that was a business decision. But you have to recognize, when it leads to utter customer service FAILURE on this level, someone better see the writing on the wall before its too late. You have to stop the bleeding before you worry about where you wander next(China, Kali).

Edited by: Joseph Boeing on 21/07/2006 21:56:50 Ultimately, I doubt I will get any CCP response to this post. I even more seriously doubt that anyone is gonna print this and take it to a decision maker somewhere there. What I know from previous experience is one thing gets a company's attention: lost profits.
I know for CCP it must be easy to be abit drunk on your success: industry acclaim, especially MMORPG of the year, come on, thats impressive. A steadily increasing subscriber base. Strong word of mouth. PLEASE, PLEASE keep in mind every bit of that is customer-driven. If your customers are no longer happy with product or attitude of your service team, that gets out as well as OMG THESE GRAPHICS ARE GREAT, etc.
As customer's there is one thing we can do. And I fully intend to do it. Cancel my account. I have an open petition(first reimbursement petition ever, in a year and 1/2), got the 'hey we really dont wanna do all these petitions so reply in 48 hours or we will use our get out of jail free card' email, and have waited another week after replying to that. Seems the standard reimbursement petition time is 2 weeks, so you have 2 weeks. That lines up pretty well with my subscription renewal. So take care of me and my Raven reimbursement petition(yes in fact NPC's shouldn't still be shooting me at 14.3 AU when Ive already warped back to station, I have screenshots), in a timely manner, and in turn for good service you get my money. Poor service gets you another EX-customer.
It's easy to for all of us to DEMAND RESPECT, DEMAND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, but unfortunately for alot of you its very hard to actually back up your threats with taking your business elsewhere when you are not treated properly. That problem is reason #1 why companies let customer service slide: because they expect they will get away with it. I highly encourage all of you to take a long hard look at yourself and if you are brave enough to make a real statement here: take some subscription money away from CCP on a large scale, and you might be amazed how good their customer service becomes should you decide to try it again a few months later.
Have the balls to hit them where it hurts. Or stop complaining. I for one, am gonna back it up.
CCP, its up to you now, the ball is in your court.
