What's clear about this thread is that Eve needs some new guys full of p*ss and vinegar to shake things up and create a new future.
Maybe Goonfleet are the answer, who knows.
I know we'll be here in one form or another until the servers shut down but it would sure as hell be nice to see more of the games younger people succeeding and making a name for themselves.
No doubt it's harder now than it was when we all started to carve out your corner of 0.0 but maybe just maybe that means we'll have a very high quality of player who manages it - good luck to them.
P.S. just to feed the alt trolls, yes we have won Eve.... more than once

1. i still login daily and online atleast 6 hours, dosent mean i actually play as much.
2. inbetween, better that way. less stress.
3. i follow madcaps plans, so i guess theres alot left.
4. TBH i dont care, if i didnt like it, i wouldnt play.
5. non-blob warfare. it sucks and its boring as hell. lets wait on this gate with our 150 man blob while these guys wont jump in on us with the 200 man blob. wait 3 hours..... now we are down to 120 and they are jumping in with 220. hell with that. been there, done that. crap at best. -----------------------------------------------

1. Do you still play as much now as back then? Nope, bored of eve... everything in this game takes hours + RL taking more time than it used to.
2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? Follower as far as the corp organization goes, sometimes "leader" of ganksquad (but not often).
3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? Nope, not really... just to have some good pvp fights and scoop ph4t l3wt. ;p
4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? In the old days it was about shooting ships, now it's about shooting pos's.
5. What aspect of gameplay would you bring back if you could? 1) Non-random ecm. 2) The old missiles + old launchers that could all hold cruise missiles. (Frigate duelling was so much fun then, and not just a matter of "set orbit" or "keep at range", press F1-F4 and wait for the outcome).

1. Not as much but thats due to rl stuff. Still enjoy playing eve though. 2. Used to be a leader now just a follower. 3. I think I have done all I would want to do in eve. But Madcap has lots of plans so ill just tag along there lol 4. New players are alot smarter which is a good thing. you can get good fights from unknown pilots/corps. 5. Bring back some sense of real piracy. Miss that most of all in eve. I still consider myself a pirate but its kinda a dead profession in game.

1. I play more if anything. 2. It's a mix. Mostly leader i guess. 3. Hahaha god yes. 4. For the better, lacks some of the atmosphere it had back when all the real action was on forums and the game itself was pretty much irrevelant. 5. Nobody using instas.

Edited by: Elve Sorrow on 11/07/2006 12:38:11 1. Do you still play as much now as back then? 1. Less to never, since about a month ago. Before that, more.
2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? 2. A leader when im the best and a follower if theres better ones around.
3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? 3. Ambitions, goals, plans, i have them all.
4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? 4. For the better, gameplay-wise. For the worse, community-wise aswell as service-wise. Although alot of the more recent changes im disapointed with, see below.
5. What aspect of gameplay would you bring back if you could? 5. People to look in awe at a battleship in space.
Regarding 4. I sometimes feel like the grumpy old grandpa we all have, who would whine about the good old days. It's a role im quite good at, for that matter. I've grown overly bitter over alot of changes, changes that failed to make it, changes that are still promised from 3 years ago, additional content which isnt more then a new Tier of ships. It's disapointing to see.

1. a little less than when 1 started ..but i still play quite a bit over the weekends
2. somewhere inbetween..i'm the corps teaboy so that must mean some sort of promotion
3. yes i still got quite a few considering ive been playing since the game went gold
4. mostly i think the game has changed for the better .i think at the begining eve was basically just one big slugfest in space .. but know i think its alot better that the ecomony is starting to have an impact on the decisions that corps and and alliances make.
5 thats a very hard question to answer but i would prolly go for mines

1. It varies, but no. 2. A leader. 3. Plans yes. I guess I don't really have any long-term ambitions. Perhaps I need to revise my goals. 4. It has changed a lot, but mostly for the better. 5. More risk. You could start by removing insurance and L4 agents. ---

1. Do you still play as much now as back then? nope 2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? depends on my mood :) 3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? Buy a carrier and go gank some one with it. 4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? Combat has changed a lot, everything is about blobs now, old school combat was way better. 5. 1. Do you still play as much now as back then? no, not even close
2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? no, i play strictly on mood basis, no responsability
3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? no, can't say that i do
4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? EVE has changed for the best for new players and developed POS wars for the old dudes that fly capital ships, but shooting a stationary object ...
5. What aspect of gameplay would you bring back if you could? I would bring back the space-pilot coverage to allow solo or small fleet engagements that was the flavor of the old days, back then it was a game with no boundaries and no frontiers, now every "inch" is charted teritory.

They want to balance the game to much as in al together as they should let the races have something there good at instead of everyone doing everything 5. places to explore standard secret places wich not to many ppl knew abotu wher eyou could find good rats to shoot at.. And not the complexes would love to see the loot bac in to NPC empire haulers wich you could gank and sell .

1. Do you still play as much now as back then? Depends, I am a father and a lover now who also works full time.
2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? I have been both and now I try to play the grunt, but I do step up when needed.
3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? Yes, there is still much to do.
4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? That would take several pages to detail. Overall I think it has improved. Shame about the blobs though.
5. What aspect of gameplay would you bring back if you could? I would like Eve to be as hard as is it was to make ISK, not a ******* chance based lotto (TII, officer loot, level 4's, etc).

Edited by: Eyecandi on 14/07/2006 07:28:32 New toon, but I was around for open beta and US release. 1) I play as much now as I did then, though with massive fluctuations over the years between then and now.
2) I act in an advisory capacity mostly, get stuck with leadership despite my best attempts at dodging it, but generally stay middle of the pack if I can help it.
3) Definitely ambitions and plans. I recycle characters when they get old (just transfered my winter of '04 industrial toon to a corp mate) and start a new life \o/ If you run out of plans, time to take a new perspective, I say.
4) Wow, it is hard to compare. Eve's much more stable content wise. No massive redistribution of rats or ore in quite some time. Player base way up--no real comparison between a couple thousand and 20K on at a time. It feels populated today. All of these are major differences from '03.
5) Hmmm, used to be that Help channel was a lot nicer. People used to talk more on local until people got tired of spammers selling or recruiting. And there was a lot more mentoring going on. Probably part of the growth thing, but there was more of a feeling of community in a lot of ways that I do miss. As far as mechanics, eh, I never really let mechanics get in the way one way or another. Frankly, as long as I can set an 8-week skill and walk away and have it train, there's not much I can complain about, really. Everything else mechanics wise is petty details to me.
Edit: First toon was grigoryefimovic of the first Vector Heavy Industries, not that that account is in the database anymore

I was born 40 minutes after servers went live and still here.
1. No, it has become a bit of a grind atm but that may be a loss of focus on my part, down to me being bored with alliance politics and the never-ending NAP half the galaxy game.
2. Inbetween
3. Not at the moment, marking time in empire until the next round of major changes to see what happens (see answer 1)
4. Gameplay has evolved beyond recognition from what it was in the first 6 months.
5. Pirates operating in empire. Some of the m0o blockades were awesome and there was never a "risk free" option to make some cash. Would prefer to see the ISK making made as hard as it was in the early days. It's too easy to make money with no risk now, so there is no need for people to migrate to 0.0 As others have stated I also miss the solitude in 0.0, where, at times, you could go 60 jumps and not see another soul. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. About the same amount, just at different times 2. Leader in small gangs, Follower most times 3. Lots, always new things to do 4. Size mostly, game is much more complex 5. Small gang pvp

Wow I just read lots of threads from the beginning of this forum around 03 and things seemed to be quite exciting back then! My question is to veterans or people that were playing when the game literally started.
1. Do you still play as much now as back then? 2. Today are you a Leader, a follower or somewhere inbetween? 3. Do you have any ambitions or plans left in EVE? 4. How do you think eve has changed since the early days? 5. What aspect of gameplay would you bring back if you could?
1. Nope finishing my MSc, a new job and a new house took care of that, getting back into it now. 2. Being a leader is a pain in the ass you end up running around after everyone else. 3. I have one or two plans, I tend to take opportunities when they arise. 4. Universe is far too busy now, the feeling of space has gone, need more systems, other than the ones being released. 5. Freighters have completely removed an aspect of the game from all the newer players. Freighters need to go to stimulate more competition. Billions of ISK zero risk.
Think empire missions need to be harder.
Forum quality has dropped considerably. People whining about CCP needing to change the game to become a success. It is, it's been here years, long before you got here.

1. I play far too much, probaly about the same amount though. 2. I was a leader but just got board of it so now do my own thing 3. Yeah, there not as stright forwad as geting my first battle ship but i still have them. 4. Barly the same game 5. At the Moment i still think the old ew system was better, also i used too love having twin mwd or twin oversized ab just think about how fast you would go with snaks if that was back ingame

1. Not as much, even tho I'm single now lol 2. Follower. Tried leading for a bit, got bored. 3. Oh yes. 4. Too many to mention, mostly for the better.. altho macros etc seem to be more widespread now which is bad. 5. Making the universe feel big again - I remember a friend started playing and it took me hours to get from Amsen to Duripant lol.

1. nope 2. backseat driver. 3. the same thing we do every night pinky, try to take over the universe 4. to crowded now, to many pos huggers and the ecm really bites. 6. more a time, before af's but after interceptors. or when hacs came out first and people would presume it was a normal cruiser to get severly pwned moments later, that was a good month or so.

1. No not really. I have graduated college and gotten a job since then 2. Somewhere inbetween. I was a director in an industrial corp for about 1.5yrs but I gave that up to join a kick ass small pvp squad 3. To stomp ppl we have a contract for 4. MUCH friendlier to noobs than it was in the beginning. 5. It is much harder to be an effective frig pilot these days. Ceptors used to be more effective VS large ships. Today, if you fit blasters on a taranis you might as well jsut hit the self destruct button when you undock unless you are fighting other ceptors and even then it is really dicey.
