You think the SU-37 hasn't spent a fair amount of time upside down in flames at the end of a runway?

Where's the part in the video when Maverick and Goose fly inverted over the top of it and give the Ruskie the finger?

Not really, since the latest SU 37's now have thrust vectoring nozzels on the engines...Same as the F22 raptors, but with the advantage that the nozzels can be refrofitted in earlier planes like the SU 27 and 29 since they use the same engines...
It's what allows them the steep angle of attack maneuvers at much lower air speeds, that you see in the video, without stalling the engines in the process....You even see the plane turning quite abruptly at times, makes the plane a much better dog fighter despite it's size, even though that isn't it's primary role(air superiority)...

Yes, but Su-35's are also capable of the same moves with slightly more difficulty seeing as a Su-37 is an upgraded Su-35.

I want one. It flies like a Death Glider (or something else with an anti-gravity/inertia device). I demand an accurate combat flight simulator featuring this and the F-22.
Wasn't there a previous Sukhoi that could do the thing where it flips over and flies backwards? ---------- Throwing ships away doing stupid things since April '06 |

Well not quite. The new manuver is "he who get his nose first to enemy get the first dib". With thrust vector, you can quickly turn your nose to passing chaser and fire his side armor. At least that's the theory... ---------

That's just a belly landing. Shouldn't do more than scratch the metal on the underside.

Typhoon beats them all.
At least the*****pit canopy opens without help from the fire brigade, which is more than can be said for the F-22.

didn't the ruskies have a plane that could do this already? i've seen video's of a russian demonstration team put a jet on it's tail a loooong time ago
anyway, imagine you're in a dogfight with this thing. you're lining up on it's six, thinking you've got him, only to see him do a backflip and fire 2 missiles at you

I didnt think that sort of dogfighting exists anymore. Thought it was all about shooting blips on radar screens from kilometers away. But it looks like I'm the victim of a common misconception! Modern Air Combat

Wouldn't need to actually, since the russians are actually more advanced than anyone else in terms of their current missile technology for fighters, and actually have rear firing missiles in service...

Best space flight sim so far, imo.

The SU-37 shown here is actually a pretty old aircraft (old as in 10-15+ years). That first manuveur is called the Cobra Head or something similar. The SU-37 was the first aircraft to be able to pull it off due to thrust vectoring (as jamesw already pointed out) and the front horizontal ailerons being used on correlation with each other. That, and some damn fine piloting skills. Sig must be under 24000 bytes and no more than 400W x 120H - Cathath ([email protected]) |
