Why cant these people understand that the GMs and Devs decide what is an exploit and what is not?! -

I have always liked the way Veruna Caseti has posted when I read the forums, I usually tend to go with her side whenever she's involved in a forums debate or is ripping someone else to shreds.
I've got to give it to her, she actually gained more respect from me.

Lola,
Believe me this is wrong. These guns do between 200 - 500 damage per hit. PC sentry guns are an will be much weaker than the tech 3 guns the NPCs have deployed atm.

"Errrr, how is it done?

By exploiting game mechanics...
What griefers have been doing since day 1.
CCP will fix it soon enough...
Maybe even ban some SI members, that would be cool...

Nope. Try again. It's already been posted how to do it using one method.
People should really start looking at what some of those 'useless' modules really do...

Any linkage? I'm curious about this. Was 28k to the gate from the warp to point in Aurohunen. (Korama gate btw) ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

... Would think one could probably drain the sentries' cap, or dampen their target range to some ridiculous value, but this 'useless' note threw me off. What is considered useless nowadays as far as modules go, anyway? :s
(tachyons are no answer since it seems they were sitting within default sentries range...)

GMs say its not an exploit, and its not remotely connected to any possible exploit.
so what can i say?

Must be cap drainers. Possibly shield rechargers.

Sentry guns have no cap to drain to my knowledge. It'd be like trying to drain an NPC pirate: useless.
Haven't looked at dampening a sentry gun myself as it kinda leads to them shooting you. It's easier to prepare to be shot than to try to keep them from shooting you.

"Sentry guns have no cap to drain to my knowledge. It'd be like trying to drain an NPC pirate: useless."
Mhmm no idea about that one actually. Was always presuming the same, but the PC sentries has something like 1000 of cap energy... so it was one of possible explanations.

Aye, but if you reduce their range with dampener wouldn't they lose the lock and stop shooting?.. o.O
"It's easier to prepare to be shot than to try to keep them from shooting you."
Hmm... stacked damage type-specific energized armour hardeners? They don't use cap iirc so can be used at no real expense....

Though I didn't really feel it was necessary, under pressure from others I submitted a petition on this issue.
I won't go into the official response as it may give away a small "secret" associated with the method they are using, suffice it to say it is a totally legitimate tactic.
That said, 59 ships and 47 podkills in 24 hours; if you ask me they're doing EVE's economy a favor. I wonder how many Cruisers and implants will sell off the market today because of them? I can't believe I was one of only 12 to get away without being podded. I'm one lucky *****.
Oh, and Viceroy, etc. if you're that impressed with my humility on the issue, maybe a small courtesy donation to help ease the blow from the 80,000,000 ISK worth of implants and modules that vaporized with my ship is in order? Hah!

What system is/was this? According to the map, it can only be PF-346 I suppose it all was more than ~24 hours ago.

Aurohenen. And no it was less than 24 hours ago read the post's timestamp.
You can't miss it - show ships destroyed and it's the flourescent flashing green light right in the center of the map.
Oh wait, you can miss it. You just shouldn't if you're smart.

There's no green light there, both destroyed ships and escape pods now give me HED-GP... No podkills nor ships destroyed in Aurohunen.

Then your map is screwed. There should be 60+ ship kills and 48 podkills in Aurohenen in last 24 hours.

Edited by: Jarjar on 01/10/2003 18:31:34 Well, that's no good, at all. I'll have to look into that, why bother checking for kills if the map doesn't work Edit: Errrr, okay! Now it shows 48 pod kills. I promise that I didn't even touch the settings, I just closed the map 5 minutes ago and opened it. Even more

Hmm, if I remember correctly, was 4-5 ships, maybe more when I was there, saw at least 1 with drones, didn't have a chance to check ship types, but I don't think there was enough high slots present for shield x-fer arrays to keep up, course can't be certain on that. Energy xfers with lots of boosters? Scorp could pull that off. Wouldn't need much in the way of other modules to kill peeps afk autopiloting. Not sure they could keep it up, unless the agressor jumped to a planet and came back to reset hostilities?
I would like to say it was really annoying having to add the extra jumps to get around it for agent missions
As for 60+ kills. Nice work. Hopefully auro won't turn into another mara, it's a ***** getting around it on missions. ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 01/10/2003 19:18:25 My first idea was:
Sensor linking modules which improve turret range/tracking speed means that long-range guns could be used from outside the 65km activation range of sentry guns.
However, while that idea would work, it has been stated SI were within range of the sentry guns.
It would rely on phenomonal damage too.
My next idea is based on multiple ships using sensor dampeners on the sentry guns but, without getting further info from any of the victims, this is pure speculation.
I am unsure that sensor dampeners received a stacking nerf but even so, I think sensor dampening from multiple sources would render the sentry guns very very inneffective.
The "possible counter" to this would be to sensor dampen SI themselves.
We need screenshots.

... Or, if you felt particularly ebil, you could sensor boost the turret allowing it to regain the lock... :s

o,o Well but seeing how the whole dampeners theory got just shot to pieces on Chaos together with my Caracal, there isn't much use for that evil i guess... ;.;
(either that or the guns have 60k+ target range... but 'tis doubtful. And i have no access to hangar so can't test other stuff *sighs*)

The player hater that was posting on page 1, and Whitedwarf, can both suck my intercourse.
We have asked GM's, and they have told us it is not an exploit, andd is well within game mechanics.
Thank you.
Also, nobody in SI is -10 sec, to the best of my knowledge.
Check your maps, people. .
