There should be an autoreload feature on turrets and launchers.. cause oh man it sure is hard to reload in big laggy fights. :) ------

This was brought up in beta. Several times. Its common sense that you should be at least given the option. Every time the issue was brought up it was shot down by some clueless real ale purist who I'm sure would petition for the option of a breathe in/out key if given the opportunity.
You'd still have the reload penalty (deactivate>reload>fire) but you'd get rid of some of the ****ty micro-management that Eve is famous for.
It might of seemed a nice idea at the time, but reloading when your fps is in single figures and you're crippled by lag is no fun.

Huge fights tend to lag you a lot and i have trouble reloading 6 missle launchers constantly, it's fairly annoying.
I really think autoreload should atleast be an option. ------

Devs seemed pretty against this in beta. Even suggestions of a medslot or lowslot mod were pretty much shot down.
How about this..--
Reloading rank 4 - -20% reload time per level.
lvl 1 8sec - lvl 5 we all get to reload ammo like laser users swap crystals.
Wouldn't change the effect of reloading in laggy battles, but would make an interesting addition anyway. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

Edited by: Jim Raynor on 01/10/2003 11:47:55 i really dont mind reloading it's just in lag i find it pretty impossible to reload my launchers, 6 missles in a h-50 go fast :)
a hotkey for reloading would work too, i mean i dont know about you guys but my midslots are what i keep my HUD active with usually.. ------

When you have 8 med slots to keep track off, and your framerate is down to single-digits, a level 2 Battleship pounding your armor, you really don't want to have to click that tiny little round icon to switch to your high slots and then proceed to manually right-click and select reload on 4 launchers. I keep missing that little blue sphere and end up altering my speed instead or something. It's not very streamlined.

Its not the time or the penalty though Prophet. That you can live with and work around. It's the act of reloading.
Drag & drop when you're lagged out is a major pain in the ass. Having to wait 10 seconds is fine, no biggie, you can work around it and time when you activate your modules so that your ship doesn't sit there doing nothing while everything reloads at once, but actually dragging that ammo over into the gun or (even worse) getting the context menus to work on the module when you've got bad fps/lag can mean the difference between life and death. It's a sucky system for a simple action.
Right-click on module > Auto Reload on/off
Thats all it needs.

Don't worry, they are redesigning the module ui... no.. really, they said it would be coming soon... (course they said that at the end of beta ) Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

Agreed, this is a serious pain, at least a "reload all" hotkey would be a massive improvement. trying to re-load when lagged out is a problem Mercenary | The Azath |

Not to mention that those Tachyon people dont have to reload, but I never said that, because some bottom-hat will soon cry "Lobbying" in this thread. --

Yup, would be nice; if we can have "Set Autorepeat" option for the weapons, why not "Set Autoreload" as well.... >>;;

Or a quick key to setting the view on your slots'd be nice too.
And disabling the Win-key as I manage to hit that now and then when reaching for the alt-key.
Gimme a skill or a module, or just a better interface. But reloading now is a pain... ever noticed if you want to do it too fast between two guns it'll actually NOT give you the option to reload as your ammo stack is 'busy'?

Yes, I notice this too, very annoying.
Man, just make launchers and turrets reload themselves, I mean.. come on.. we're already using ammo, and having to stop shooting for 10 seconds (in the case of missles, 20 seconds). Can't we atleast either have it done automatically or be given a better interface to do it?
I hope TomB reads this. Cause man reloading missles in lag is FREAKING DIFFICULT. ------

I absolutely agree......ok I am a laser user, but still i got to agree.....my ab is on autorepeat, my armor and hull rep are......but one isnt able to set the huns to autoreload??......damn if that is true, EVEtech is about 2000 years behind us......intelligencewise that is......able to invent a frickin fullyautomatic armor rep, but the guns dont reload....doohhhhh its just so irrealistic,a and pretty useless
plus i had my lasers sitting there without crystals, cause my crystal stack was busy.......then you can even reload a laser....cause then it actually loads my radio crystal back in........funny too

you know in current days, ammo auto-reloader has already been proven worse than manual-reloader in heavy combat :p

The real world does not have a frame rate. Hybrid/projectile/missile users would still have the in-game penalty of reload time; they just wouldn't have the metagame penalty of having to hunt down and click the little module icon, wait a few seconds for the menu to pop up, then manage to click the reload choice. I really don't see why anyone would oppose this.

Auto-reload...I'll sign that petition for sure.
We can swap out 10 different kinds of ammo in our guns on the fly, but we can't make it autoreload? Bleh

100% agreed. We really bloody need autoreloading. Interface and that pseudo-micromanagement is enough painful in its current form (in addition terrible *cough* radar *cough* implementation :/ ).
Ehh, it was so many times suggested and asked for...

Yup jimmy, totally agree, i spoke to TomB a few days ago about a right click 'auto reload last ammo type' feature, or just a bindable button to reload. He said it was currently being considered.
So tbh, its something were gonna have to push into a CSM, so can we get onto it pls? =)

even in one on one battles the lag can get to where loading the missle launcers manually is impossible.

Oh yes please!
Even if you want it as a high rank skill or something, make it happen.
As Jim pointed out, the delay for the reloading is not the problem - it's faffing around with silly mouse clicks when things are going pear shaped.

Hi.
I think having the 10 seconds reload is already enough as a penalty. Please make ammo weapons with a auto reload option.
