If I had to go with a race, I would say Amarr = Post war Japanese. Probably the most imperialist society there has ever been with the Emperor as the ultimate ruler over everyone.
The rest are a mish-mash of several races. Caldari is more the corporate run Western society as a whole UK, America and such. Minmatar are probably the third world countries that the Western countries have always treated as underdogs. Gallente is a kind of mix of East and West Europe.
A quick bit of trivia here:
Minamata is the name of a town in Japan that was poisoned in 1956 by a leak of inorganic methyl mercury from a wood pulping plant into Lake Minamata, a chemical better known as PMT which has since been made illegal. It caused a community of 100 thousand to become diseased and disfigured. They called it Drunken sickness since the toxin affects the brain and causes the victim to become confused and disorientated, it is one of the few toxins that can transcend the placental barrier to cause deformities in the foetus.
