A big question that i think is just being dodged, unless i've missed it, and thus point me there and i'll STFU. This 50% Reprocess %, whereas this was the standard before the patch which was fine, thats why we Carebears and such trained up Scrapmetal Processing and say Veld, Sco, Ker, Pye. Plag etc... And then we would grind missions for the factions that we wanted to to reprocess at or refine with!! Yet, now its all 50% no skills but 10.00 standings with that corp and then only 55% if you have max skills, and max standings. So my question is simple is there going to be some point for future running of faction standing missions? Better rewards maybe for the accumulation of LPs at the stations, as having high standings with said corps doesn't do anything now? Or a reset to allow better standings to allow better refine, Example Base refine 50% no skills for refine 60% refine if 6.00 standings with refining station Corporation 70% refine if 7.00 standings with refining station Corporation 80% refine if 8.00 standings with refining station Corporation and so forth up to 100% at 10.00 standings?
Base Refine 55% max skills for refine 65% refine if 6.00 standings with refining station Corporation 75% refine if 7.00 standings with refining station Corporation 85% refine if 8.00 standings with refining station Corporation and so forth up to 105% at 10.00 standings? I put it higher as with the skills you get more... OF course same should go for POS in space, if in Amarr space and Amarr POS and Amarr standings for it being there, then the cost of running the POS and the cost for using it for refining should be reduced, thus if a corp has 10.00 overall standings with say Amarr, then the purpose for running missions etc would be justified...
I feel that you are forcing everyone to either go pirate, or move to low sec/null to free up high sec for what? New players? But then in my opinion you have made hisec inhospitable for anyone new or old to be here... As an added thought why not make the security status of the locations drop over time... I.E. With the amount of random killings at the trade hubs, Jita and Amarr, why not drop there sec status down from 1.000000000 to 9.99999999 or lower depending on how many kills etc they are, would that not be the actual case, where we actually in space, and not just playing a game? |

Standings are still needed for perfect refining. I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed.
You can see, when you hover over the "output", that the npc corp will take a share. This share, you can get down to 0 with the right standings.
So yes, they still matter. |

NPC standings are still valuable as the NPC station tax mechanic didn't change. If anything, NPC standings are more valuable now for scrapmetal reprocessing: since the overall yield has dropped, every 0.01% counts.
Also, don't look for CCP to increase the scrapmetal reprocessing yield anytime soon. They nerfed it for a reason. Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.

Standings can still be useful if you are forced to reprocess ore/ice in a NPC station. In general doing it at a POS is painless, inexpensive, has higher base yield and requires no standings. Unfortunately it requires a moon though. Furthermore, i respectfully request these forums to be upgraded to support preformatted text. |

In my opinion more relevant issue with POS refining than the presence of moon is that you need to haul the crap to the POS and then haul it back where you want to use it. Freighters are exceptionally slow ships and if you need to do it in any kind of serious volume you can spend a while in warp. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

Thing is, unless you're going to be using the minerals yourself, you're probably better off using a compression array in that POS instead...
take Veldspar for example Batch = 100 = 10.0 m3 = (approx) 300 veld after (NPC Station) refining
Compressed veldspar = 0.15 m3
Freighter = 845k m3 (Red Frog max size)
845 000 / 0.15 = 5 633 333 Compressed Veld = 1 689 999 900 Tritanium (16.8 million m3).
Granted, one is not likely to do this via RFF, because it's over the billion isk collateral mark ... keeping that as our absolute maximum...
1b ISK, Compressed Veldspar, Jita sell prices (2500 ISK /unit) = 400,000 units (60k m3) = 120 million trit (1.2 million m3) 1b ISK, Tritanium, Jita sell prices (5.5 ISK / unit) = 181 818 181 units (1.8 million m3). One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

If you're mining ore to sell, just compress it and sell the compressed ore. It's better for you, and likely better for the person buying it too.
