Edited by: Paradice on 09/07/2006 07:54:34 This is kind of an odd question, but I am curious. Are there any communities, groups, gatherings, corporations, forums, ect... of female gamers in Eve? I am really new to the game and enjoying it, the last MMO I played had a large female gamer community, set up forums, and even had real life get togethers and parties at the anual gamer convention. So I am wondering if there is anything similiar here?
I have heard rumor of an all female corp, but I haven't found any information on it.
It would be nice and all to be part of the female eve community as we seem to be outnumbered by quite a bit so far as I have seen
PS. How do you get your character's picture as your posting avatar?

this post definately needs the acronym MMORPG, and I'll leave hippo to explain the comical implications of that.

Yep, only 2% females in Eve so far. The devs say some of the best pirates in the game are females though, without giving any more specifics. So bring your friends here, its a great game.
The avatar picture takes months to appear it seems... lots and lots of people having problem with it. But i think ccp are working on it.
About female groups... there have been similar posts before, and there is supposed to be some kind of female network, but I cant remember the details. Someone else will probably reply with more info later on though.

I have met quite a few other ladies so far, most of them dutch like me. The ladies groups are mostly closed as far as I understood. Mainly to make sure no guys in skirts enter their clubs. Generally it seems the behavior toward the ladies is very civil. It gets as polite or rough as the lady herself dictates it to be. That to me makes it not needed to hide myself in girlgroups.

I treat everybody the same.. female or male doesnt matter. Its a game.
Edit: And yes, i dont see the need for females to be in specific female groups either. But if they want to be, i guess its up to them.

Many Men online Role Playing Girls.
You will never find a game that personifies that acronym more than EVE.

And thats how it should be. Specially since we had this little ism situation where us girls demanded eqaulity.
Reason I said that by the way is cause some games are famous for the way in wich girls get constant dating requests and foul adult language. I havent heard much about that happening in Eve without the lady herself being an active part of such behavior or language.

I think the community is pretty grown up... since this game actually allows you to have a job and play it at the same time, without getting left behind too much. Offline training is fantastic. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

That indeed makes gaming more easy for people with jobs or even for mothers with jobs and kids (yeah they are in Eve). Personally I also think the fact that much goes as long as its ingame and with use of normal game mechanics, kinda helps attract an adult group. Not being treated like a little kid that needs protection against all kinds of things is still one of the best things about Eve in my opinion.

Definently agree with you here. This is a game where knowledge and skill really pays off. The most successful people here have earned it. Except maybe the t2 lottery winners. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

Yes this is correct. If you would like further imfomation about how to be a Women Gamer of EVE member, then you can contact either myself, Zajo, Lacrimae or Ms MaryJane ingame via EVE-Mail or private convo, or you can join our public channel "WGoE Public" (HINT: its a public channel, guys will be in there too ...) We also have a forum you can register to if you want to www.wgoe.org (Keep it clean, Admins/mods will blacklist if we deem it neccisary (eek spelling, but you catch my drift)

Like any onliner i do feel sorry for the female populace ive seen girls in EVE, WoW, Neocron and EQ1 and 2 having to leave Corps, Guilds, Clans cos of the amount of attention they get for just possessing boobies, seriously people do need to get a bit of life and stop trying to nail 'that chick that games' cos you think shes the perfect woman despite never meeting her...girls are people too

All self declared RL females in Eve should be assumed male until heard in Team Speak.
You can be polite about it, but its the truth.

Actually I came from EQ1 and I had to play a male character the first few years of playing just to get men to leave me alone. I eventually did switch to a female character when people started figuring out I was a woman in real life and they left me alone for the most part. EQ1 is where I was part of the female gamer community, they have thier own forum, parties at the EQ fanfaire thing, and so on which is why I inquired about it here

I had plenty of that attitude in other games, at first it bothered me enough that I got on my webcam to prove it or sent pictures or even had them call me in real life, that just turned out badly when I sent them to the wrong person and got a stalker. I don't have a microphone and I learned both not to care when people said you are a man until proof, and I learned not to pass out my pictures or get on my webcam u nless I know the person pretty well.

Edited by: Whatshername on 09/07/2006 15:52:21 /emote is a girl I have been hanging out in the EVE RADIO channel and have found that there are quite a few girls in there and I have had no problems at all from the boys. I would recommend the place to all the women players out there. Actually I have had no problems from any boys/men I have met in the game (other than having to convince them that I am in actual fact A Ghurl). I am sure there are some chauvinistic a******s in eve but they are definitely a very small minority.

If you find the right corp, people don't care if your a girl. You're just another gamer to me, and probably most of EVE. But odds are, you'll still get the "B00B13S!" Syndrome from a small percntage of people. --------------------

It seems the relative anonymity of a MMORPG or a Teamspeak channel makes some people feel like they can say anything they want to someone.
Things they would never say to someone right to their face.
My wife will not chat or get on TS anymore, except to a very few people that treat her with dignity and respect. This is a loss to the corp and alliance she belongs to as well as her enjoyment of the game. I have met several other female gamers in eve that feel the same way.
Theres several posts in this thread allready that prove that point.
Guys, think about what your saying before you ask my wife to have sex with your dog, or to perform oral pleasure on you.
Cheers

let it be known that the new tin foil hat will be The Establishment as the true leaders of WGoE O.o. Or something.
On that note ive only heard one or two instances of women actually being put off by their corp mates. Mostly you'll get satirical/fake stuff like people post here :P
