Combat ships have a comprehensive hierarachy of ship types from frigates to titans. Conversely, the gap is big in transportation capacity between entry level industrial ships and capital level freighters. Even for speacialized industrial ship like Epithal, the base PI hold capacity of 45K is a very small fraction of the base capacity 440K of a Obelisk. To fill the void, I would like to propose a medium freighter that has half the capacity of freighter, half the cost to build, and 50% faster in warp speed. It provides more useful options and flexibilities to haulers and builders. |

Can't fit 200k m-¦. Orca also can't fit 200k m-¦, and it is not a transport ship.

I'd support a freighter size between an Orca and a freighter, as I do in the other threads. This is not a new idea. Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

Exactly , why not. More ships = more possibilities. Support Needed : Jump Fuel Consumption |

In terms of capacity alone, a tanked jump freighter fits the role. No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff |

You can't transport 200k m-¦ in a T1 hauler. Hence completely different classes and usage areas.
T1 haulers are also already mostly useless because you can't tank them and get sufficient cargo, hence they die to 1 Thrasher. They can still be used for very low value and medium/low volume transports.
BR also can't transport 200k m-¦; hence different usage area. They are great for up to 10k transports, where cloak is required, such as high value transports or Low sec.
DST are also not obsoleted because you can transport quite a big amount of stuff in their fleet hangar and they are faster than these medium freighters. If you fit them for max cargo, they are little better than T1 haulers, hence their cargo space is mostly limited to the Fleet Hangar. For the rest of the slots, you can fit very impressive tank and make them worthwhile for transporting higher value, higher volume things through High sec and some Low sec areas with scouts.
Medium freighters would be great for high volume, medium to high value items through High sec to speed up the transport of volumes which don't fill up a freighter's base cargo space.
You see, nothing is being canibalized and there's lots of clear usage areas and distinctions for all types of haulers.

Using a JF for extended gate-gate traveling without a cyno jump is just about the same class of misuse of a ship that the Orca suffers from. Besides, the price tag of around 6-7B for a ship that is used as a small freighter, where the normal freighters are only 1.1-14B, is ridiculous and makes no sense. |

So all the trit i transported in the fleet hangar is a bug? :)

*sigh*
By "fit them for max cargo" I mean that you also fit full racks of Expanded Cargohold II and Cargohold Optimization I/II in order to get the maximum possible cargo out of your DST and in the process lose a lot of tank and maneuverability.
How is your trit bug connected to that? |

Nevermind, i read that incorrectly, like you would assume the fleet hangar is not used for cargo (quite common belief, actually).
