The subject line of this thread clearly states that we should be excited about Hyperion. I can only assume he means the ship since there's no real information on the expansion of the same name.
Though, tbh, I can't see why anyone would be excited about the ship either. But its relevant.
We are all hoping to get a free Polaris Corporation Hyperion with the patch. Or at least a reskinned Hyperion painted like a fire truck.

Are you excited about the upcoming Hyperion expansion due to be released in 21 days? What do you know about what's in-store with the patch/expansion? Here's what we can glean from the 2 posts in the Features and Ideas forum:
- Heavy Assault Cruisers will receive minor tweaks
- Explorer's will be able to find new Jump Drive Economizer loot in Beseiged Ghost Sites
- Capital pilots receive a new fitment option in the aforementioned Jump Drive Economizer
When do you expect to see a devblog providing more detail on the theme and changes to be made in Hyperion? Thanks, Sven Where's the beef?

Training anything that has become popular is risky.
The "EVE cycle" is generally:
1. Some patch accidentally makes certain module or ship optimal (possibly but not necessarily overpowered)
2. EVE being a spreadsheet game even a 1% advantage to a module or ship means people will train for it
3. Eventually new ship/module will become popular and show up in killmails and mission systems etc possibly even make it into a few fleet doctrines.
4. Haters will start trolling GD citing popularity as evidence item is OP and unbalanced and sometimes post impractical EFT fits that give an exaggerated false impression of benefits of mod.
5. On the basis of 3 and 4 new players start training towards ship/module.
6. In reaction to 3 and 4 the module/ship is "balanced" in a new patch and made totally useless.
Soooo .... Moral is if you cannot train into the new favorite toys really early be careful and do not put all your eggs in the one basket.
That said ... HACS are a useful ship class to have regardless of the ishtar. |

Also they're not nerfing the Ishtar into the ground. The change from 7.5% to 5% is actually not enough to curb its overwhelming strength. I think they should keep a 7.5% or even 10% bonus to optimal range and remove the bonus to tracking entirely. No, this isn't it at all. Make it more... psssshhhh. |

The short version of the mass change is that it screws up a core mechanic.
If you know absolutely nothing about wormholes it's hard to explain without getting into a lot of detail, but I suppose you could say the equivalent in kspace of changing gates so that you land at a random point within the constellation. Very useful for a few specific cases, but highly annoying for the rest of them.
Or perhaps a better analogy would be if taking a cyno landed you "somewhere nearby" the cyno. Not the end of the world in some cases, but certain death in others, especially considering that the "cyno" in wormspace has previously allowed you to withdraw without anyone chasing you.
Suffice to say: it's a core mechanic and the tweak would directly impact a lot of wormhole corporations who are based around the core mechanic not being drastically changed. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the death of wormholes, I would go as far as to say that it's probably the coffin of wormholes. |

Drama queens and their crystal balls. Everyone knows what's really going on.
If CCP caves on this change you can pretty much bet that they'll never do anything to upset the status-quo of SOV and fix the stagnation there either. But hopefully it'll go through and will cause some excitement the same way shaking up moongoo did for null last year.
The good news about w-space is that it'll still be difficult for a CFC type of entity to form there, but then again I've learned to never underestimate players ability, through "making friends", to make their game as boring as possible. ~ Professional Forum Alt -á~ |

Most of the changes are good/welcome.
The mass<>jump variance change has seen over 50 pages of reasons against so far across two different threads. The first being the one in which the community found out about the change in a far more drastic and unpalatable form before any communication from CCP about any proposed change to wormhole space. This was met with justifiable suspicion and anger over yet another oft repeated instance seeming as if CCP was sneaking in a change that they community has never requested and does not want. Prior to this player discovery no discussion had taken place with the community or, as far as I am aware, our CSM rep. The second is the actual feedback thread related to the dev blog section pertaining to the mass<>jump variance proposal. Again, as in the first locked thread, the overwhelming majority of the community is opposed to this particular portion of the devblog and full expects to being loudly saying "I told you so..." in a few months time when the publicly stated goal of this particular change doesn't come to pass. Either player ingenuity or player apathy will cause this particular design goal to fall flat, imo.
But, the TLDR is a sad constant for CCP in a lot of cases, especially those dealing with wspace. Never not fail to communicate in an open and timely fashion. Never.

Drama queens and their crystal balls. Everyone knows what's really going on. Yet it actually does make some drastic changes to a core mechanic so in that Traior is not being a drama queen in the slightest. It is a drastic change to how wspace functions. Failure to recognize that point makes continuing a discussion around that point not worth having.

BOT, PUBLRD, BOTLORD Accords, renter empires as far as the eye can see. Much more exciting. I can't wait for the sequel.
Just think, in another 3-5 years we might have some use to put those Ghost site drops to use on and build a super stargate to some fantastic new destination.....

There was a great war, and tons of excitement and it would have continued but too bad the space lawyer would rather run his website, and point fingers at CCP, then log in and lead his massive amounts of willing troops into an all or nothing conquest of everything.
But, you probably missed it all, hidden away from everyone, busy protecting nobody from the Sleepers.
