Edited by: Garia666 on 17/07/2006 08:07:24 It would be nice to see that those two guysÆs giving comment in the matches. Would do that in a more appropriate manor. With that I mean maybe give comment in a more neutral way. (Like they do in other sport matches)
In my opinion you guyÆs talk to much downgraded about the people and there ships.
For example if you only listen to the comment about the KAOS typhoon... ItÆs like way under the belt. Also what you guyÆs do or like in EVE isnÆt really an + for the match thatÆs going on.
Plz DonÆt get me wrong here. EVE TV is awesome and I love the live matches just be a bit more professional on your comments since this game is with people and people do have feelings..

They're not unprofessional, it's just that they play the game, and like anyone who plays teh game, there are those they dislike for whatever reason, and those they like for whatever reason, and no matter what that will bleed over into their commentary, as nuetral as they try to be.
Honestly, I think if they were truely neutral the commentary would be rather boring. |

Well i dont totaly agree with you there. ( you can give comments on the actual way of fighting ) But i dont think you shouldnt take it on the ship type.

agreed with this topic.
Also would be a nice idea to get interview from the Team leaders. Interests for the other Teams and/or TV users.
Also would be nice to get EvE-TV all the time. Like 1 hour per week with news or so.How the eve-radio.

whine whine whine . . my lord, some people feel the need to go out of their way to complain about anything they can . .
"Oh, he talked bad about this guy's ship or tactics, that's just wrong, whaaaaaa".
You are either one of those tree-hugging liberals who think "every kid's a winner" in sports OR you are too young to understand how the world really works.
Stop complaining and just sit back and watch Eve TV and enjoy it. If you can't do that, then turn the channel.

Edited by: Alasse Cuthalion on 17/07/2006 08:45:00 Right, I'm sorry but you've got to give Al Haquis a go, he lives in Iceland so there's no excuses!
Last time round Al did some commentary for the Ushra'Khan matches on their own ts server (he was their spectator/sub blokey) and they were absolutely fantastic, half of the BoB directorate were on the server ****ing themselves laughing.
I recorded their first match against V which can be found here. Be warned, there's some mild swearing.

most of the coverage was pretty good, the only prob was that the comentaters had dated information, they didnt know that most of kaos had left ect (adga gone to lv and species to ascn ect) one of the comentaters even said that he rarely played nowadays so wouldnt it have been a little better to have someone that does?

The comentators on EVE TV imho were not that bad. Ofc a bit more impartiality would be nice, but otherwise they are doing a great job.

Best part is that their voice/tone level and choice of words makes it sound professional - their game knowlegde is alot better than the 1st tournament, but still has some way to go :)

What they really need to do is have one of those token sideline female reporters like they have over here for American Football. Some woman tooling around in a covops telling us pointless anecdotes about how one side likes to read Art of War quotes before their matches.
Also I haven't heard anything that sounded like favoritism more just that they are expecting certain people to win. The one match my alliance had that I got to watch they didn't expect us to win and made that abundantly clear but they seemed happy to note that our representatives did better than they expected. I don't think that's favoritism.
It stands to reason a well-entrenched alliance with older characters is going to outperform newer and/or smaller alliances. This isn't favoritism.

Oh lighten up guys.
They are doing it for your entertainment. They dont have to, no one involved does.
But they volunteer and try and make your Eve experience better.
I dont think you'll find any other game out there doing the same.
So perhaps dont complain, be happy with you got, and appreciate the effort they are going to ya? ___________________________________

there are 3 options how you, the listener can react.
a) take it serious and be grumpy about it (no fun and ruins a fine and unique experience)
b) dont stream in and listen to your own sources or reports a day later (this way you dont get worked up)
c) take it like any sports commentatory with a grain of salt and enjoy it, we just had the football WC and the comments there were also awefull and unprofessional alot of times (this way you can enjoy the game and make fun of the guys doing the commenting - something they dont mind since they dont take themself too serious either and know they are not pro gamers nor uberpvpers)

At least the Typhoon had the last laugh when it downed the Rattlesnake.
The commentary has been ok so far, I just wish they'd focus a little more on what's going on and less about how long it is before they can go to the pub.

mah there are 2 "schools" about comments
one more "professional" that say the commentator should just report what is happening adding a technical comment where necessary.
and one more "entertaining" where the comment is not stricli inherent to what is happening but it adds color with opinions or past experience of commentators.
both are valid and have pro and cons, first one risk to become a bit boring as basically you are alredy describing what people see on the screen, second one risk to become a bit out of place with people speaking of everything exept what is happening.
peronally i prefer the second "school", and i think is also nice that commentators express their opinion about a certain ship (maybe not about a name :P) or a strategy as long it doesn't became just bashing but ther's some motivation behind it.
imo they are doing a good work, the only real comply i have to do is that sometimes they speak one over another (but probably will get better as they will get more used to comment battles).
and for the phoon (<3 phoon) yup i agree, and for sure they don't know the ship too much, but in the end it makes it better when you see the rattlesnake go boom and the phoon happyly fly around
(i'm also a bit surprised that there where so few phoons, i think is quite suited for this kind of engagement, waaaay more than tempests... but that's another story )

Edited by: Tecam Hund on 17/07/2006 11:02:40 I think the commentators did an awesome job tbh. Didn't find them to be overly in favour of either side, and if you limit yourself to absolute neutrality the comments would be dry and uneventful.
It was entertaining how they commented on KAOS team I think. They underestimated the Phoon in hands of a skilled pilot and in the end it made KAOS victory more exciting. I, for one, came close to cheering out loud when it sucked command ship dry and it went down in seconds. Then a Rattlesnake kill \o/
So in short... Sports matches commented in a proper a neutral manner make me fall asleep. It might be good if you don't see them on TV because you can actually have a clear picture of whats going on, but we all have screens in front of us and can make our own judgements. Overall it was amazing fun.

I enjoyed the show alot. The only thing that made me grumble at times is that the commentators are talking so much around that they miss ships going down..
Hey they lost their sabre, or did they ? Lets have a look, yes the ship went down.
On another note. Would be cool if the camera could follow the commentators. Several times there where frigs moving in to kill the drones, would like to have seen that.
Anyway, constructive critisim is never bad imo.
Kudos to the team though. Had a great day watching the show :)

seem to be good commentators but the problem seemed to be in the knowledge of certain ships.
too many times I heard them call a destroyer a recon ship or hear them say "that megathron must be setup for close range damage" when clearly the megathron is heading AWAY from the fight and is shooting rails (its kinda obvious when hes not making any attempts at approaching and the firing effects are for rails...)

Edited by: Wanmeili on 17/07/2006 12:04:45 Edited by: Wanmeili on 17/07/2006 12:01:49 To be fair, who could possibly be counted on to provide total, expert PvP commentary for a game with a cult following like EVE? I think they've been decent so far. Bias is to be expected, sometimes. After years of watching women's tennis with Chris Evert commentating matches with Steffi Graf, the EVE commentators are practically impartial.
I bet no one would get that reference.
