I have tried to create a tech support petition 5 times and "whoops something really bad has happened" keeps happening!!
So here it is here instaed
Last night my client started to CTD every few minutes. I am running two accounts, two clients on two PC's independantly through a shared router so I am quite confident it is not a networking problem as the 2nd PC & it's running client remain stable.
So far I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client, reinstalling my gfx drivers, removing an independant installation of Python 2.4.3 that came with Nvidia Gelato and that I thought (from the error logs) could be causing the problem. No success with any of the above.
Attached is a dxdiag report and below in this text, my history log from EVE plus an error log (I have many but they are all the same as this one since the re-install and CTD problem):- This problem seems to have started last night (on old client before reinstall) after months of stability, I haven't installed any new software (except Nvidia Gelato and Bloodshed C++ IDE) or changed any hardware, BIOS settings etc.
This is so prolific that I can't play for more than a few minutes, I have checked harware power, voltage, temperatures etc (since we are having something of a heat wave) and they are acceptable as are my other PC's. =================================== 2006.07.17 21:25:02STARTUP [556] 2006.07.17 23:14:53SHUTDOWN [556]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.17 23.14.52.dmp 2006.07.17 23:16:21STARTUP [556] 2006.07.17 23:17:26SHUTDOWN [556]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.17 23.17.26.dmp 2006.07.17 23:17:53STARTUP [564] 2006.07.17 23:19:08SHUTDOWN [564]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.17 23.19.08.dmp 2006.07.17 23:26:15STARTUP [2696] 2006.07.17 23:40:16SHUTDOWN [2696]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.17 23.40.16.dmp 2006.07.17 23:40:23STARTUP [2920] 2006.07.17 23:42:20SHUTDOWN [2920]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.17 23.42.20.dmp 2006.07.18 00:24:16STARTUP [400] 2006.07.18 00:28:26SHUTDOWN [400]User requesting close. 2006.07.18 16:49:02STARTUP [3128] 2006.07.18 16:55:35SHUTDOWN [3128]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.18 16.55.34.dmp 2006.07.18 17:02:05STARTUP [2648] 2006.07.18 17:05:32SHUTDOWN [2648]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.18 17.05.32.dmp 2006.07.18 17:07:54STARTUP [2892] 2006.07.18 17:09:39SHUTDOWN [2892]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.18 17.09.39.dmp 2006.07.18 17:10:40STARTUP [3060] 2006.07.18 17:13:20SHUTDOWN [3060]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.18 17.13.20.dmp 2006.07.18 18:48:30STARTUP [2944] 2006.07.18 18:51:55SHUTDOWN [2944]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/Games/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b3913 2006.07.18 18.51.55.dmp

I'be had similar issues just yesterday and today. I've had connection drop around 30 times in that time.
A mate suggested it was my connection provider, NTL/Telewest. that are having serious network issues.
The client doesn't seem to deal with connection issues gracefully - I have had constant CTD's and even the odd bluescreen.
Anywho I hope it gets resolved soon cos I can't do much atm for any length of time.

Edited by: LyncusBee on 18/07/2006 22:32:11 Yes I am on NTL also ..... much at the moment to my loathing.
But I have two clients on two PC's through the same router no QoS enabled and the other PC runs EVE flawlessly?
I have just re-imaged my HD.... thanks to Acronis True Image, really is a godsend try it!..but still getting CTD's now every 10 mins odd so about half the scale I was getting but still unplayable!
Stability is so important in this game because of it's nature.... I need to know my client is going to run rock solid before i go PvP or evn tougher PvE'ing
I think this is going to be the end of dual accounts.... I just can't be arsed with the arduous process of debugging i shall just merge accounts and run EVE on one PC

As of a complete re-image of my HD from a saved image one month ago:

Now this eliminates software changes utterly, and OK I am at the verge of openingmy PC up and seeing if there are any hardware probs.
Something is going on that trancends software and is now in the realm of installing EVE on a third PC and seeing if I can run stable on that....... but please insight into the logs much appreciated I am running low on ideas and have already taken some pretty extreme measures!

Edited by: arkarsk on 19/07/2006 04:46:51 Edited by: arkarsk on 19/07/2006 04:45:52 I am getting the same annoying problem.
EVE randomly started blue screening, and after replacing all of my drivers and doing all the hardware tests in the world, i couldnt find the problem. So, i formatted my PC and reinstalled windows.
Now, eve doesnt cause my PC to bluescreen, however it does crash fairly often.

Probably worth mentioning that LyncusBee and LathrusZee are the two accounts, the former is the problem client, and that I seem unable to lodge a petition atm?
I just hope a dev/support member comes by soon then.

Had a similiar problem with the current heatwave. Turned out my graphics card needed cleaning had got dusty inside the cover and was restricting the airflow over the heatsink, not had a problem since. Might not be the same problem as you are having but worth a look.

Yes taking a look at the nutz n boltz might not go a miss since the current 30+ temp. I have a Quadro card which have a monsterous fan on them and go full revs for 2 secs on PC start (which was nice)

Mines been CTDing every 15mins after a patch 3 months ago.
Not my internet or comp as i just about rebuilt it and wasted money having people look at it to see if i missed anything.
So all i can think it is, is that my database account bugged somehow when they installed that patch a few months ago, before that everything ran alright. ===================================== Option A: You talk, we listen, no pain. I thought it was the heat for a bit but there's a lot of folk having similar issues it seems.

I think we should define a clear difference between a CTD and a dissconnect: -
I consider a CTD to be when the client crashes to the desktop without an exception (I don't think I have show exceptions enabled in the prefs atm anyhoo) or error window/s of any sort and does not bring up the client connection dialogue.
I consider a Disconnect to be when the message "connection to server lost" comes up and the client launches the connection dialogue in preperation to re-log.
The reason I am pointing this out is that there is a now enormous thread upon ppl's growing disconnection issues.
Here
What I am talking about are strictly CTD's but I will copy and cross link this post also

Is there any chance that we might get a response here containing a solution to our common problem? Or is it mandatory that we file a petition in order to receive any sort of help?
EVE is literally unplayable for me now.

This problem began showing itself yesterday for me. Between the screen freezes that no one has been able to date to satisfactorily explain (only developed post patch 3910), and now this crashing (not a "you have lost connection to the server", frozen frame of my ship, then desktop, no eve) Eve is becoming completely unenjoyable. At least some form of acknowledgement that these problems are not some figment of our imaginations, or that they are known and being looked into would be nice. J.A.F.O.

Got the same problem.. Since yesterday Eve is CTD every few minutes.. Just had enough time to change skill but that was all I could do yesterday.
Can CCP take a look at this problem because I think this is not a client based problem anymore since more and more people start to report this problem. ------

These happened within a few seconds/minutes of eachother during a fight in lowsec. I lost my malediction because of this, and this is really starting to become ridiculous. I would petition CCP for a ship loss, but last time i did (a long time ago, to replace my executioner when i was a noob), they said that since its not a server side error, they cant reimburse me.
I am unable to effecitvely play and enjoy eve because of this. I dont intend to pay for a game i cant seem to play.

"Unconfirmed, as it hasn't been reproduced by QA.
Crash to desktop occures frequently on some computers, seems unrelated to hardware. If you are having this problem please send in a bugreport and include the logserver file (.lbw), dump file (.dmp) and xDiag, compress them using either zip or rar as the max filesize is 2mb. Bugreports howto guide."
This isn't good enough for me. This CTD issue is more than a month old for me, and possibly longer for other people.
Apparently nobody in CCP can reproduce the CTDs, so this problem is unconfirmed? That is BS right from the start. That translates, to me, like this: "We're not sure if this is even an issue, but some people have complained so we'll add it to the list." This problem is bigger than that. The bug list needs to be updated to reflect the level of effort being put into this issue, because I really hope it's more than this shows.
I havn't seen any kind of official statement about this problem other than this "Known Issues" list. The word "unconfirmed" makes me feel like this won't seriously be looked into until I am long gone from the game.
How can this be unconfirmed with an entire playerbase doing beta testing? Is no one sending in the bug reports? Are there no simmilarities within the bug reports? Can't the problem be tracked back to a particular patch or downtime? I feel like much more progress has been made with players posting in the forums, as that's the only place I've gotten any information on this.
"Unconfirmed, as it hasn't been reproduced by QA."
Scary.

Having the same problem here to. You wouldn't believe what I have done to stop eve from CTD every 2 to 3 minutes with out warning. I have brought a ś120 Power supply, i have brought 1Gb of extra memory. And STILL I get these CTD for no reason!
Its not been so bad as i have used my laptop while the desktop has been uncontrollably CTDing. But tonight the laptop has started it to!!!!
So now thatĘs 3 desktops and 2 laptops eve CTD's on. And its just with my char, my others player normally which says to me a bug somewhere.
It can't be overheating or a driver problem.
Systems Specs Eve CTD's on:
MAIN COMP 4000+ AMD 64 2Gb Memory 74Gb 10,000 RPM Hard Drive SLI 7900 256mb (512mb total) graphics ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
Secondary Comp: 3.2Ghz P4 1Gb Memory 80Gb Hard drive Geforce 6600 Some motherboard can't remember!
Laptop: Duel Intel Centrino 1Gb Memory 100Gb Hard Drive Geforce 7700 Graphics 256Mb
Laptop 2: Same as above but ATI graphics
Desktop 3: 3.2Ghz P4 512Mb Memory 40Gb Hard Drive Geforce 5900
Eve CTD's randomly on all the above. Sometimes it once an hour sometimes itĘs CTD just as itĘs logged in. Any ideas would be great; this could be the only thing to stop me from playing the game for good and closing my accounts. This would be awful.

So it isn`t just me having these problems..
I`ve been having the same error messages, as well as random disconnects ~(even while logging in)
It`s been happening since yesterday, but today its worse.
It is most definitely an Eve Server problem, and nothing to do with Vomps, heat, etc...

Add me to the list of people that keep getting diconnected. It is randomly staying stable for anywhere around 2 to 10 minutes. I am not losing my internet connection as I have tested that out.
I do have mulitple accounts and can log into one of them and it stays stable. That character is in a totally different area as where I have the disconnect issues. It's most likely the severs that are running systems in the heimatar area where the trouble is. (my area where the pc is at).
Yes I have also done a petition, still this is highly aggrevating. Up until now I have not had problems.

This bug is most definitely Eve-related, and is NOT anything to do with players computers!!
I have been getting the same crashes as other people, with exactly the same data: It occurs as a random CTD, with no warning at all
It has been doing it since friday, but got a lot worse yesterday, with little improvement today......
...and it has crashed even during logging in...

Do any of you have a Belkin ADSL wireless G router?
As that might be doing it, just noticed when i was looking thru eve search that alot of people have had a few probs with it. Been crashing ever 5-15mins for the last 3 months it's gotten so bad that i don't even log in to game now and on the verge of cancelling my account.
Will try and fix it once i find a way to forward the ip thru the router. ===================================== Option A: You talk, we listen, no pain. Option B: You don't talk, I remove your thumbs with my pliers, it will hurt.

In terms of problem, snap, I'm getting CTD as to just EVE disappearing with no warning and no error window.
I'm so far seeing the common pattern of AMD64 processors in the crapping up comps, also to mention slightly that its also dual core processors. It's also evident in other people with topics and problems of similar problem. Atm i'm tryin to find a program which will affix EVE to one core. anyone?

I have a 3500+, and it still CTD's, and that's single core. So it's not to do with dual core CPU's. Neither is it to do with AMD, since Intel CPU owners are having the problem too.
