Am I the only one who despises this weather? Am I the only one who pears through the heat haze at the sun baked landscape and scowls?
Surely not, does anyone else here find this sort of living atrocious?
Personally I like to be able to walk from point A to B without sweating like a pig on heat 'in heat'.
I'am currently growling out of my office window while doing my best impersonation of Odo from DS9. I will live in my bucket until my will has distorted this weather for the proverbial worse.

By adding my will to your own, perhaps it will double the speed at which this crap passes!
I got back from my holiday in Ibiza weekend gone, looking forward to stepping off the plane and laughing at this British excuse for heat; I've just come back from the med! Marvel at my reflective pervo-vision sunglasses and cheesy tourist shirt!
But it is hotter here. May I ask wtf? At least in these hot places around the world they have aircon in most buildings / vehicles. I think brits endure because "it's only 1 week a year".
There is no maximum temperature limit for the workplace in UK law. Right now the thermomiter I've brought in and mounted on the wall illustrates a temperature of 35¦c (95¦f).
I'm glad I'm not the only one who dispises the heat with such passion. Give me winter any day! If it gets too cold you can always put on another layer. But if it gets too hot? Enjoy your heatstroke.
I can't wait till Iceland in November. -omg-

The forecast for Yorkshire, at least, is that it will break tomorrow - Thursday temperatures to be around 10 degrees lower, with occasional showers of rain. ________________________________________________

Everything about it annoys me. The cheery smile of the weather girl as she happily informs you that tommorow will bring a record breaking heat wave. Then the people that look upon my pale skin and mock pah get some sun. Umm no id rather look my age rather than the extra 15 your showing also skin cancer isnt my thing thanks but enjoy. Im Scottish i get my vitamin D from Frosties i dont need this frikin heat. Wheres my snow [wail]
The temperature has risen higher than the level that would normally insure that the ladies would begin declothing for male visual delight. Now all i see is red and horribly tanned sweaty flesh everywhere. I sat on the train last night across from a girl who had to keep wiping her gut which hung unceremoniously from her tiny tank top. uuuurgh. and some builder guy who kept scratching at the sweat over his hairy shoulders.
This heat must end!!!!

Whilst the UK's Health and Safety Executive doesn't like to mention a maximum working temperature even though they do list a minimum of 16C for seated workers, the HSE document Workplace - A Short Guide For Managers does state that workplaces should be comfortable and neither too hot nor too cold. It also highlights the risk of heatstroke and the need for adequate ventilation.
If you're working in an office where the temperature is above 35C, you should definitely make your health and safety officer aware.

Not typically British. We Dutchman can complain about the weather even harder I guess
This is just too hot. 35 degrees C is not good.
And then the weather girls... "Today is gonna be a beautifull day" If its 35 deg even in the shadows it is NOT A BEAUTIFULL DAY a beautifull day is when the sky is like today and the temperature between 20 and 25 deg.C
This is just too hot. It surprises me that I haven't seen any sparrows falling from the roof... ---

I'm a rain and wind and dark sort of person myself, I hate this heat and sun. I'm not actually supposed to go in the sun much, on a REGULAR day I have to wear factor 50 sunblock due to my condition. Imagine how this weather is making me feel, i'm stuck inside with all the curtains closed.

I have never complained about any sort of weather other than the type we are recieving. I would rather have it heavy rain, fog, snow, wind anything other than this.
I could understand if i moaned about the weather regardless of its state. Thats not the case though.
As for sunblock. I use it everytime i know im going to be outside for any length of time. Many times many of people i see walking the streets have never even heard of the stuff. I noticed one girls back looked like she had had a chemical burn it was scorched so badly.
I'd rather keep my pale skin. Why people lie on grass wherever they can find it and slowly sizzle under a noon sky has always baffled me. Why?!?
Is it benefitting you in some way. Not from the state of the majority of the people I see it isn't. As I said deeply baked men and women in their twenties who look more like their parents.

Couldn't agree more, living in Scotland though i'd have thought i was safe from 'sun' apparently not. It can be -20c outside and i can still go about my daily business without it effecting me. but its 32c and everyone in the office is slugging along with a half glazed expression.
How many times do you hear someone let out one of those long exhausted sighs in the winter?

It's all those endless hours sitting in front of a computer screen playing eve that has made us allergic to the sun.
Seriously though, everyone I've spoken to hates this weather. So why do the weather forecasters always look so damned cheery when they are saying "oh what a glorious day it'll be tomorrow. Even hotter sunshine! Record temperatures! Tomorrow's weather will be hot enough to melt iron, aren't we lucky?"

Actually, it's probably the combined heat that's been kicked out from all our comps and/or laptops frome playing EVE that has created such a ridiculous hot streak here on earth. So, since I know none of us will quit playing, I guess we're stuck with it.

It's becoming more prevalent, cars tend to have it as standard now, but we're just not used to having summers this hot for this long so there's not really been a great need for it.
Looks like thats changing now. A friend of mine bought a mobile AC unit and constantly tells me how cool he is. Tosser ________________________________________________________ In space no one can hear you scream unless you have voice comms |

I work in a McD's (yeah lame I know, but at least I help run the place and got it to finally make money). Our HVAC is the worst air-con in the world (I can state this with faith that I'm right). It's actually hotter in our kitchen than it is outside. And the owner won't let us replace it - ú40,000 equipment & installation costs ftl.
It's worst around the cooking equipment (everything we use is 150 degrees+, most stuff is around 200 and one bit is 321), and average air temp in the kitchen is around 38 (of course the a/c on the dining area isn't so bad). Obviously we let everyone have cold drinks and stuff, but it's bloody harsh when it's busy - almost like carrying a soggy teabag around in your pants all day.
I actually like the hot weather, but I absolutely detest working in it. Hot weather is for beer gardens, bbqs, sunbathing and getting drunk. Not for work!
Btw, the actual reason I'm posting is to let ppl know about european H&S law on heat - anywhere above 30 celcius and you should be allowed 5 minutes an hour to take on liquid and cold water should be provided by the employer.
I got a jar or dirt!

Yeah the only problem with that is sometimes all the storm does is break stuff and put half a million people out of power for the high of 103F the next day. That was one hell of a storm. I'm just glad I still have power, but during the storm seeing large trees bend half to the ground is a little disconcerting.

The worst thing about this damned heat are the bloody weather girls telling us what a beautiful day we have in store. *******s. I can't stand this heat for much longer! *Cries* I've been having to change my boxers once a day! The inhumanity.
At least when it's cold I can turn on a radiator or add layers (or not bathe). All I can do now is turn on a fan to circulate the warm and stale air around the room. Woop-de-*******-doo.
And the god damn fecking flies/mosquitoes. We don't have them in the winter either. And flees too! Noah was a *****, he saved all the wrong bloody species.

The Heat in California is UNBEARABLE.
OMFG
IT has been getting up to 115¦ Fahrenheit or 46.1¦ Celcius here in the San Francisco East Bay area. It has been 110¦ on a regular basis (43.3 C).
We lost power for 2.5 hours today because of the heat and overheating transformers blowing up. I jumped into the pool when the power went off, after powering down my computer so it wouldn't crash. UPS for the win.
Now I'm going to the movies to cool off further.

Ahh, California, inland, near the mexican border. A balmy 121 F yesterday (/me googles a converter) or 49.4 C for you European types. --------------

I'm English and actually like the heat and have lived in Asia right on the equator. What bothers me is the humidity in England because all you do is sweat buckets unlike the dry heat of Asian countries where you get hot but don't seem to sweat half as much. The problem with the weather in the UK is that we get a few days of hot weather then a little bit of rain before it gets hot again. It serves only to fuel the humid atmosphere and makes you even more sweaty.
I also notice the stores profiteering from aircon units. What you can buy even in America for a hundred bucks costs 6 or more times that in the UK. Anyone setting up an export business from the USA could make a fortune buying aircon units in the States and undercutting the UK market even by 75%. Even if they were double the price of the USA, they would still be 60% cheaper than they are from the shops over here.

Usually, the problem for me in Britain is that the weather is always so changeable. You never have a chance to acclimatise to warm weather, as you normally have 2-3 days where it is hot, followed by rain and a temperature drop of 10-15 degrees.
This time round, the warm spell has lasted long enough to get used to it, so I'm not too bothered. Problem is, I get a convertible car on Thursday - guaranteed death knell for sunny weather for the rest of the year I reckon. |

I'm in Canada and the heat is fine but the humidity is insane. I work in a garage as a mechanic and I gotta sit there in my shop coat and die in the 120 F in there. I sweat buckets in there. ===============================================
