I wouldn't care if someone did that for me in Recon. I always just blitz that one.

Which is the best route for the Recon missions. zap through em fast as possible and move on. The fights aren't generally worth the time and effort and you can get fast lp just by blitzing it. Just my opinion, tho. |

no, and no.
ship's crew drops in a white container - looting the crew does not make looter suspect. Mission owner owns mission wrecks regardless of who pops them. |

If the ships crew is gone, they are gone for good (in that mission). checked contracts issued by the player who stole it and seems like they have 4-5 contracts going for different cargo needed to complete missions. I checked her killboard the day after she took my worlds collide loot and she lost a 600m gila to a navy vexor in high sec.

Recon 2 ?
If you MJD from the spawn point you pop out right on the gate and mission complete. Recon 2 takes a single MJD cycle to complete :D |

I think a warp speed rigged interceptor will still do it faster just based on align time and warp speed. but one MJD cycle does seem pretty fast. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

This person went into the last room and stole the cargo needed to complete the mission and put it in contracts for 20m. Out of principle i quit the mission and took a small standing loss rather then buy it back.
Is there a way to get around this kind of thing? Does the cargo respawn after downtime? I'd allowed gameplay. But yeah, just wait until after d/t and do it again.
I believe it is possible to petition it under the "mission in progress" category and GM might reset the mission for you. Ofc take it with a grain of salt, I have not done so myself so it is not based on my personal experience.

I'd call it a creative use of an opportunity for iskies.

I'm not sure if lying in a petition is against the EULA but I'm sure it wouldn't make CCP happy. I'm sure lying is a perfectly acceptable part of gameplay but I don't think the petitions are part of gameplay.

On the other hand, a player scanning down a mission and then swooping in to swipe the mission critical item... only to then ransom it back to you is part of gameplay. I've had it happen to me. I've done it to others. Missions aren't instances with barriers that automagically keep others out while we nom on red crosses to our heart's content, and I'd be willing to bet good iskies that the gm's would likely take a dim view of dishonest petitions sent in to circumvent the inconvenience another player levied on you.
Edit: If something like this does happen to you, you do have a few options available to you though. One is to try and negotiate with the person who took your item, they may be willing to trade it back in exchange for a ransom. Another is to accept the loss of the mission and move on. It's not ideal, but it's safe... it'll cost you a standings hit with the agent in question and I think a lesser one with the corporation they work for. Or you can engage this individual in a holy trial by combat.... if you win you've got an estimated 50% chance that your mission item will be in the wreckage. However, as Ilshira has pointed out, this can be a risky venture as this may be exactly what your erstwhile foe wants. |

Finish mission fast (bookmark rooms and come back for salvage), always check DScan for probes, pop wrecks if they come in (they think they are wasting your time/isk....standard ammo is damn cheap as it is so mostly wasting their time, always keep some in your hold), leave mission, and decline....that's about all you can do by taking the hit or accept their contract that isn't worth the value of the mission total anyway. |

could probably just browse eve-survival or something. something like Militants are worthless as they drop in 2x the required amount so everyone should more or less have a stockpile, where say The Damsel is apparently not on contracts at all in Jita, and the lowest one is 20m in Lonetrek right now, although I would guess there is a stockpile out there somewhere. I had a player join me whilst doing a mission, it was quite funny watching him try and upset me. Best thing to do is ignore them until they warp off feeling totally impotent and defeated. If they do take the mission critical loot just drop the mission and take the next, it's not like there is a finite number of missions. |

I had a storyline objective taken a couple years ago. My mission ship didn't have enough cargo space for it so I jumped back 3 systems for a hauler. By the time I got back, the objective was gone and a flashy cross was sitting there.
I said, "well played, you got me there". He offered to sell it back. I said, "Sure, how much." He docked up and logged off.
I petitioned and was basically told, too bad, so sad. Failed the mission, took a pretty steep hit to standings and continued to grind standings. As if I wasn't going to do it anyway, right?
I also moved mission hubs and haven't seen an interloper since. (dscan, dock up, etc.)
So, TLDR Don't expect the mission to be reset if your objective is taken. |

To the OP - nope, your mission got borked by the thief CCP approves of such theft.
Your L4 missions will occasionally have visitors. You just need to learn to deal with it One basic rule is to never engage the intruder in your mission ship You will lose. I keep a PvP ship nearby for these people if I care to engage them.
For the ninja salvagers, I keep a blaster fit gank boat at the ready...
Ninja looters are typically trying to get you to engage and possibly pop their ship. They have a tough PvP ship at the ready to come pop your mission boat once you get flagged for PvP. Again, never engage with your mission ship.
With mission loot, that is the first thing you should try to grab when possible. For example, with damsel in distress, I knock down some of the initial hostile DPS but I collect the damsel ASAP just to be safe.
If you are concerned about future intruders, mind your D-scan and what sigs are in system. If you see a couple probes get close, leave the mission and take a 30 minute break.
In the end, it's just a game. Half of what intruders want is to collect your "tears". |

While I'm sure you are correct, I will bring to attention which mission the OP was having trouble with and please note it is no such arc mission. Yawn,-á I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really. |

When I level 4 mission, I will use my directional scan to search for combat scanner probes. You need to do the same.
Combat scanner probes are what you use to scan down another player's ships, that's what you have to look out for; core scanner probes just scan down various signatures. Adjust your scanner range to get an idea of how far away the scanner probes are to your location. If at least 4 of them are within 4 AU, it probably means YOU are the one getting scanned down. It is time to dock up.
At one point, I was doing a longer mission (Angel Extravaganza maybe?) and those combat scanner probes kept trying to land on me. I kept docking up. It was back and forth for a while, but eventually the ninja looter was forced to look for somebody else.
As has been said before, do not engage a ninja looter in a pve ship. |

Shoot the wrecks. Make sure you can tank the rats, and instead lock up wrecks as he approaches them. Then send a round through the hull. You're denying him loot, and lulz by not engaging him directly. In the end, you're stilling making money off the bounties and mission bonuses. He makes nothing. I've had looters yell at me in Local like I'm the madman, but they always leave to find someone more complacent. |
