Nikolai Nuvolari Caldari	Posted - 2006.07.25 03:58:00 - [1] With all the talk about Tier 3 battleships, people are saying "I want it to be THIS!" or "It will definitely be THIS!" I've come up with some ideas of what I would like to see, but I want to know: You're the Gallente pilot, would YOU fly it? Aegis-class battleship: 8 highslots 5 medslots 7 lowslots 8 turret hardpoints 0 missile hardpoints 7.5% bonus to large hybrid turret tracking per level 10% reduction in microwarpdrive capacitor use and maximum capacitor capacity per level Enough grid and CPU to fit eight Neutron Blaster Cannon IIs without completely gimping the rest of the setup. I see this as a good way to create the ultimate blaster-oriented battleship without eclipsing the Megathron in long-range fleet use. With BS5, not only would the MWD cap use be cut in half, but more importantly, the capacitor itself isn't gimped as badly, which would make MWDs truly useable for this battleship, which is vital for a good blaster ship. The extra turret hardpoint and ability to fit realistically fit neutrons give it an advantage with blasters, whereas the Megathron, which already seems able to effectively use 425mm rails, would still have the advantage in fleet combat because of its damage bonus. In a word, no. You would throw the balance of the game out of the window. Mega is already good enough with Blasters, Gallente needs a utility/ECM BS aside from the pseudo ECM Dominix setups, not more DPS. _____________________________________________

That seems...excessive. 5% to those would be better. 25% counteracts the max capacitory reduction from a MWD, and the 5% reduction in cap use along with the 5/level from High Speed Maneuvering would cut MWD cap use in half. But you did forget: "Role bonus: Inflicts quadruple damage to all ships that require Caldari Frigate skill to pilot"

Without a damage bonus, the Megathron does more damage with long and short configurations. Not only did you fail to give it any extra slots, but you gave it three bonuses which have very little to do with blasters. Try this: 8/6/6 +10% blaster damage bonus 980m3 cargo Theres your ultimate blaster ship. Purchasing Complex Fullerene Shards, contact me ingame.

By giving a ship MWDing bonuses you're not making it a blaster ship, you're making it a MWDing ship. To be fair you did give it an extra slot, I'm just too used to staring at the Vindicator fittings.. which is what this ship is. You made a Vindicator for the masses. And I can tell you that you still need billions in officer cap mods just to make a decent passive cap dual rep setup that doesn't suck. At that point you might as well just buy a Vindicator which probably still has more HP than a tier 3, does more damage, has way better agility and uses less cap :p Honestly, people don't get it. If its gonna be a blaster ship, make it a blaster ship. It doesn't have to be good at anything except tearing crap apart at point blank. I don't want speed, I don't want range, I don't want efficient mwds, I don't want ecm bonuses, I don't want falloff. I want to make people soil their pants.
