Is there a genre for these kinds of films (other than thriller) where you dont really get the film until everything falls into place in the end?

and my favourite movie Jacobs Ladder
For those who have seen the movie the scene were he awakens in the hospital bed and sees his family was fantastic. He is filled with relief, the tears are streaming down his face and he hugs his family. 'Thank god' he mutters barely able to contain his relief 'it was only a dream' and then the insideous voice whispering in his ear from nowhere. 'Dream On'
Brilliant movie.
Yes I included Jacobs Ladder in my list and have to say this scene is the best in the film. Hearing the voice say "dream on" still sends chills down my spine some 15 years after i first saw this film. Time to watch it again me thinks. ________________________________________________________ In space no one can hear you scream unless you have voice comms |

And more
OK, lets list the movies where Angie has been naked ... I'm doing this not because I like boobies, but because I want to show that Hackers was chosed for reasons other than skin (good reasons or not... yet to be determined). If Hackers was chosen only because of Angie's chest, these below movies would also have made the list (and I looked it up online, I don't have them personally.... I not obsessed!)
Gia Original Sin Taking Lives Foxfire Cyborg Mojave Moon and yes... Hackers
Now... let me remind you that in addition to a very brief boob flash, Hackers was not just about the ta-tas! It was a very cool movie at the time it was launched, and everything was pretty cutting edge. That being said, looking back with our computers of today, the movie seems sad and dated. But at the time, it was a very cool movie. But, as it was a tech-movie, it becomes laughable and outdated as the technology does... and technology changes very fast!

The reason I didn't like it was because it wasn't realistic in any way. Hacker culture was never like that, and hacking never looked or worked anything like the movie portrayed. I realize it would have been pretty tedious to just show a guy typing code into a computer in a dark room but IMO they went way overboard with the exaggerations. 9/10 for the idea (cause I'd love to see more hacking related movies), 5/10 for the execution.

Fanny and Alexander - An astonishing and beautiful fairytale, a true masterpiece. Ran - "Stop it! Do not curse the gods! It is they who weep. In every age they've watched us tread the path of evil, unable to live without killing each other. They can't save us from ourselves." Grosse Pointe Blank - The darkly comic romantic action movie. Succeeds in everything it tries to be. The Station Agent - A wonderfully warm and moving film. The Conversation - Paranoia at its most insidious and most fascinating.
(Sometimes the profanity filter is just stupid and annoying.)

Grand Canyon - I have a very special place in my list! Highlander - Please just the first "There Can Only Be One!" LOR - but still a prefer the book. Contact - good movie. I like the last final words at the end of movie.
Quote:
- Are there other people out there in the universe? - That's a good question. - What do you think? - I don't know. - That's a good answer. - Skeptic, huh? - The important thing is that you all keep searching for your own answers. - One thing about the universe, though. - The universe... ...is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything... anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... it seems like an awful waste of space.
Indiana Jones (all the 3 movies) - I need say something more?
Akira Kurosawa - all movies Hayao Miyazaki animes movies - suberb

You mean before they took authenticity seriously. How can you take a war movie for real when the see the Germans in 'Battle of the Bulge' in American M-60(Vietnam Era) Tanks with Iron Crosses painted on the side and decked out in post war East German gear...

All quiet on the western front.
One of the best war films I've ever seen. This makes Saving private ryan look like a TV show for kids.
This film pretty much desensitized me to violence.

It was good, but let down by some very cliched scenes and some ropey acting. The premise and storyline however was class.
