I laugh at people who want to use police, laws and hundreds of GM hours to fix a simple interface issue.
If there would be a "make the other ship explode" button, the same kind of people would debate endlessly how lame those evil exploiters are who click that button, and how GMs should ban them all. Then the same kinds of people would come here on the forums (well they would if they could bypass the ban) and whine how the griefers stopped griefing using the "iwin" button, but instead tricked the GMs into thinking that the other guys used it.
Oh and on topic - its good to see a dev responding to an extremely important interface issue. I would suggest a "no by default" temporary fix, and a longterm solution involving the reworking of the current pop-up box system, including a more detailed way to "auto-rejecet" (auto-reject convo, auto-reject gang invites, auto-reject gang invites with wars).
The current blocking system needs a rework, many new players think that someone with auto-reject (the interface issues make that a must if you undock) declined their conversation attempt and feel insulted etc even though there is actually no way to just say "no" to a convo without blocking someone. Switch the message boxes around so that autoreject generates a message sayin so - and allow for a "not now" option for convos instead of the useless ("yes, add to adress book").

I am always ganged with an alt, first to make my drones behave properly and second to be safe from such crappy actions. If you don't have a secondary account running, you can simply invite a corpmate (even if he's at the other end of the galaxy ;)). --------------- Hey, where's my portrait |

It actually doesn't matter. You still get gang invites, even if you are already in a gang.

Yikes, if it takes 5 minutes I'm scared, unless that includes finding the piece of code, even then it's a stretch

The whole system modal dialog concept is so seriously flawed it makes me cry, and that's beyond EvE.
If it's so important that you need to inform someone IMMEDIATELY, when why add buttons that can be pressed by being in the process of typing random text to a text editor?
Defaulting to "no" just makes it less likely that you type the wrong button.
And for added insult usually there is no feedback on what exactly was just being told to you and what action you commanded.
I bet they don't have system modal dialogs on board of REAL space ships.

defaulting it to no will only solve half the problem. Stopping it from grabbing focus is better. That way you can't be spammed when your trying to get your pod out or enter won't select yes if your typing

Don't remember when... but I am sure they said so.
Pretty sure too - but try and petition it...

No separate programming task in a professional and commercial environment takes only 5 minutes for the dev. If it does you are slacking somewhere.
But default to no, or better, non-modalise and non-focus the window. Yes, please.

just my 0.02 isk
How could you not realize this? You've never received a gang invite? Sorry, I just can't believe you are truly that naive. So, not only are you despicable, you're also a liar.
And for the record, I have no qualms with despicable liars playing Eve, nor am I accusing you of any exploits. I do find deceptive PvP tactics in HiSec space to be relatively cowardly though. Real Pirates hunt LoSec, real PvPers fly 0.0.

I dont agree with this. I know of quite a few players, me being one, who gets the gang invite without spamming them at random people. All it would take would be a few lying asshats to get me and many others banned. Most stuck-up newbies wont accept that they accepted to join the gang, and lie through their teeth to make them look 'better'. No.
oooooh, ok, so you want to first admit you exploit to kill people, even if only occasionally. Regardless of the person, and the reasons for you killing them, the methodology you used to kill them is still an exploit.
if/when you would be reported for using said exploit, there would be no use in lying for either of you, as the server logs would either confirm your innocence or guilt in the matter, so don't try to use that as a "reason" you should be allowed to continue to abuse an exploit.
you have failed miserably on both counts, get some skill, and fight with a spine rather than cowardice.

All it needs is make the invite box appear without focus & the problem instantly disappears.
I do wonder why it's lasted this long tbh... ____________________________________________

So now its an exploit to kill people using gang wars? Why do gang wars allow you to kill your gangmates then? Why do i have to overload the petition system with questions each time i want answers to some basic stuff?
Server logs and actually logging something ... heh. Heheheehehe.
As for the convo-spamming tactics. While its lame, labeling something that has been deliberatly designed to have such an effect an exploit is even more lame.
"Real devs" dont hide behind exploits, they fix it so that convo-ing someone cannot possibly harm anyone. Then it doesnt matter how "evil" the lame griefers are, they have to go back to killing hamsters, issueing RL threats over phone and sending dead rats via mail.

Agreed. In cases like those, the 'Enter' key should not activate the 'yes' or 'OK' or 'Accept' option. In cases like those, a mouse click should be the only way to aknowledge the invite.

Or simply make popups not force you to focus on only those. Make them non-priority.
Getting convo-spammed while trying to save your pod? Who cares, they'd just pile up while your cursor is still able to spam clikc the warp button.
Get convo invites while typing and the person is hoping for an easy gank-via-exploit? Ohnoes, tough**** for him, you kept typing uninterrupted, or hit enter and it told him NO.

The majority of players use the addressbook to list enemies rather than friends. When you see the green dot in local, you know the player is hostile. As a convenient side effect, it notifies you when your enemies log on/off.
