Broken is the fact there are still log entries being made about standing increases for the allied faction that no longer have an effect. My standing with Amarr is 9+, with Caldari 7.5 something and Ammatar 9.1 something. (So much for being noob ). Another important mission for Amarr will not increase my standing with Caldari or Ammatar. Doing one for Caldari will not affect the Amarr or Ammatar one. Same is true for the -5 i have with Minmattar.

My Caldari standing is way below -5 and IIRC amarr is lower as well. Gallente at 9.9something etc. SO really don't get where this max standing thing is coming from.

You do take standing hits for destroying faction ships, so this can pull down you overall standings.
I will be doing a Gallente storyline mission tonight. My Serpentis standing is -9.62 and the Gallente <-> Serpentis standing is -9.0. I'll check the standings before and after running the mission and let you know.
Cheers, Arrs.

OK... first off LexaKosh is right and once you hit the inter-faction standing you don't lose / gain standings to hostile / friendly factions as a result of a storlyline mission. The highest / lowest standing you can reach is the standing the other faction holds the primary faction in. For example, running Gallente Federation missions will not drop your Ammatar Mandate faction standing below -3.00. This is the standing the Ammatar Mandate hold the Gallente Federation in, not the other way round (-2.00 for info).
Second, the derived faction gain / loss is not the inter-faction standing. For example, both the Servent Sisters of EVE and the Gallente Federation hold each other in a standing of +8.00. However a 8.4% standing gain to the Federation does not result in a 6.72% (80% of 8.4%) derived gain to tSSoE -- strangely they get a 13.33% standing gain. On the other hand, both the Minmatar Republic and the Gallente Federation also hold each other in a standing of +8.00, and the derives Repulic standing gain is 80% of the Federation standing gain.
If anyone can shed any more light on to this, I'd be really interested in hearing your views.
Edit: I can share the standing gain / loss values if anyone wants to know.
Cheers, Arrs.

Just thought I would pipe in with my experience here... As long as you're not -5.0 with no ranks of diplomacy, it can be fixed. I went from a -4.87 Caldari to a -1.xx something simply by training diplomacy to 5, and now I'm running for the Caldari Navy.
Diplomacy is nice. Paying attention to the standings one cares about is nicer, but most n00bs (myself definitely included) didn't realize how limiting it is for a mission runner to be stuck in one or two regions for eternity due to running too many storylines for one faction. I got out just in time.
If you're < -2.0 with someone you'd like to talk to, you better find a friend of theirs that you can talk to. It is definitely possible to screw over your standings to a point of no return, and is relatively easy to do.

That's because of the size of the involved factions. The smaller the bigger the standing gain.

Edited by: Gariuys on 04/08/2006 05:06:15 And I will say that this was implemented quite recently then cause my standings are: SOE 10.00 Gallente Federation 9.98 Interbus 9.50 ORE 8.79 Minmatar Republic 8.53 The Society 8.07 Concord 3.15 Amarr 1.75 Jove Empire -1.30 Blood Raiders -3.92 Khanid -5.06 Thukker -5.24 Sansha -5.58 Caldari State -7.19 Amattar Mandate -7.56 ( Holds Gallente federation at -3, never killed any of their NPCs ) Mordu's Legion Command -8.50 Guristas - 8.60 Syndicate -8.98 ( holds Gallente fed at -6, never killed any of their NPCs ) Angel Cartel -9.58 Serpentis -9.98
Made two notes on the negatives on how this kinda proves this didn't happen for me, and all the positives don't follow it either. And I've only flown for one Gallente Federation corp... pretty obvious which one. This are the standings before connections/diplomacy btw. Connections lvl 2 and Diplomacy lvl 3(only used to keep Jove positive ))

I can't say if it has been like that forever. I noticed it when the Amarr COSMOS missions were introduced and i got quite big chunks of standing increases with them, but my caldari standing did not move an inch.
