This is probably not what you want to hear, because I wouldn't want to hear it if I was in your shoes, but....
Do you not think that your efforts in this regard are completely wasted while there is no WIS in the game?
CCP got burnt so badly by the negative reaction to Captain's Quarters that they seem (?) to have written off the idea of WIS completely. Sadly I think the reaction was moreso to do with the manner in which CQ was deployed, and forced upon us, rather than a total and everlasting abhorrence of the concept of WIS.
Right now, frankly, there is no reason to buy NEX items really. There is arguably some merit in buying ones that are visible on your character's face, but clothes? What's the point - no one will ever see them unless they manually "View Body" on you, and how often does that actually happen? You'd never know if someone did it on you anyway. In short - it's like a designer shop selling clothes that cease to exist once you walk outside the front door.
I'm loathe to say that Valve gets everything right, but in terms of their whole "clothing store" with Team Fortress 2 - they did. They instilled value and demand in their items because other players were forced to see them. Without knowing that other people will see you wearing this stuff, what is honestly the point of it? Now, I don't think WIS should be mandatory (unless you want Monument II: Revenge of the Community) but if you make WIS attractive enough then the "value", both in terms of justification for CCP creating the stuff in the first place, and the actual aspirational "buy it with Aurum" value will rise.
It seems a massive shame to me that CCP have arguably one of the best character creators in the business, and people working on clothing items that clearly a lot of work has gone into, and it's in the service of a game with ZERO interaction between avatars.
Honestly, if you guys can spare the time and it doesn't impact Eve, you should seriously consider easing the community into WIS by having a station somewhere where you can interact with other people, show off your NEX items, etc. Only then will it actually have any perceived value, and perversely the effort you're already spending creating these clothes will appear to be more productive than it currently is.
Hope you take the above as gently as it was intended, as no one likes to be undermined or told their work is of no consequence. |
