The model is ripped from the game. Its about 4k polys. I did a little extra texturing with Specularity and Luma maps.

Pretty good! Some crits to consider:
Make the deimos displace the water. Might not be realistic but it would make it more beleivable. (And cooler)
The water reflects the deimos, but the deimos doesn't seem to reflect the water. This makes it look like the deimos was rendered apart and composited in later.
There doesn't appear to be any shading on the bottom of the deimos either. This is really noticible when the deimos breaks for higher altitude.
The scale of the waves in comparison to the deimos make the deimos look small.
Add real heat waves for the engine exhaust.
Sharpen the ground texture.
And to be really nit-picky. Gallente ships use ion propulsion engines. These don't generate smoke it atmosphere as far as I know.

very good, but being the picky person i am you forgot to do the wash/wake in the water caused by the ship flying close to it

First of all this just a project for spare time now a full blow work thing. If some1 payed me to do it I could spend the extra time refining it.
Point 1(wake). Please read prievious posts in thread.
Point2. It was comped in later, and the reflectance of the service meant that there was no reflection on the deimos. I know this since the i told the renedered to take that into account during the render.
Point3 The shading should be realistic, since im using HDR image based lighting for the ambient component of my lighting. Too may cg artists try to over illuminate the model.
Point4. This is true, the displacment would have sorted that out a bit but it didnt work with fprime (even though it should).
Point5. Could have done but just used a composite pass, faster and easier considering I only get about and hour a day to work on it.
Point6. True, but since its a satalite photo, it was the only 1 i could get for free at the time. Higher rez cost money.
Point7.
Dont care, artistic license... it looks nice.

Very cool man, love the water sequence.
Only thing that bugs me is the Thorax, no good points of scale on it so it's hard to tell how big it is.

Lou this is looking pretty slick.
I think the only thing that's fighting with this is the current wave pattern. The movement patterns are that of smaller surface waves (ie. not a mass of water moving in one direction, but fast direction changing surface waves) If you're trying to sell larger waves you should slow them down. If that isn't the intention then they should be scaled down. For me this is what makes the Thorax look small on the water shots.
...as the Thorax pulls up it would be nice if the tail of the craft sunk slightly (just a little bit). The front of the craft should be leading the action in the pull up by 1 to 2 frames. This would help you sell that and also allow you to put tiny bit of weight into the direction change.

Nice job Lou, always a pleasure to see your stuff ... now that you are getting the models the right way around (/me looks at Lou's sig and grins).
Especially good work on the textures, I know how tricky it can be to get Tech2 ships looking right with shaders.
