Congratulation D2 and friends. I enjoyed many engagements during my stay in XZH, many thanks to everyone who participated. I also enjoyed those casual local chatting/games when everyone were being civil. I definately hope we'll try again in a few months.

Originally by: Nevvy Good fights. In the end it came down to economics.
Economics and especially logistics, as I predicted a couple of weeks ago when it looked like D2 were "losing". 30 POS in two nights is not something that happens by itself ;)
(Also, WRT the "we couldn't counter-attack because of the lag", the GS/SMASH capital work the night before that (Thursday? Friday? I lost track) was underwhelming even without the lag. You guys put up a good fight, and it was smart getting SMASH involved, but it never really looked like you were going to win anything that weekend - the lag just made things slightly easier and probably cheaper for D2 et al)

To answer your question, we are heading back to Syndicate, having loads of fun, generally blowing off steam after an extended siege. We have a few people to deal with down there, but it is not a problem.
To respond to your allegation, we were perfectly capable of holding the station. I think D2 will agree that almost every assault, in our off-peak hours, was repelled. We lost because D2 bought the system, putting up over 40 large towers, something we were not prepared to financially counter.
Our military counterattack stalled because the node died for 8 hours, and BoB started roaring on the forums causing our allies to flee. Sadly with our support dropping out in the 11th hour, and losing an entire days worth of preparation, our counterattack never really got started. Nobody can say for sure how it would go.
As for the siege itself. It was definately fun, and a great learning experiance. We went in not really knowing how POS warfare works, and quickly learnt with a bit of trial and error how Sov is calculated, how POS's are setup and how to effectively attack and to defend them.
We have walked away with valuable experiance and a lot of battle hardened newbies. We may have lost one war, but we are a long way from being defeated.

No, we wonŠt. We will agree to the fact that almost every assault, in your off-peak hours, was repelled by the server.
Stop trying to knit yourself the "tale of the military unbeaten defeat" in XZH. I will give you much respect for your courage, your will to fight and your tenacity, but donŠt try to make up a story of glorious battles and victories for GoonSwarm.

Here's an idea: How about you stop blaming every single failing of D2's on "lag" and "exploits"?

Cheers for the fights folks, it was a damn fun place to be. After spending a few weeks in Outer Ring watching most NORAD kids play station commander it was awesome to have people who regularly engaged, even in some cases when wildly outnumbered.
I got to have my first go at FCing as well, which was such a complete and total failure I had to promise everyone there that I will stay as a grunt for the rest of my EVE career.
"Haha ok guys this retard in a vexor has engaged me, warp to Draven Stone at 15" "Warp to Draven Stone at 15" "Warp to Draven Stone at 15" "Two more hostiles just showed up at 150k, how many are in warp?" "MORE HOSTILES, FIGHTER SUPPORT. STOP WARPING REPEAT STOP WARPING OH GOD" "SNIPERS 180k OFF WARP ONCE YOU GET HERE GUYS GET THE HELL OUT GET OUT GET OUT" <pew pew> "...ok, x in gang with what you lost please" "x - thorax" "x - harpy" "x - incursus" "x - thorax" "oh god"

I don't see the server on any of your Dread lossmails!
The fact of the matter is, you attacked our POS on numerous occasions with dread fleets. Almost every time you did this, you were forced to withdraw before our POS was reinforced, usually with dread losses. This is called repelling an assault.
You cannot seriously expect to have a fight involving at least 200 people without any lag, and even if you did you would have learnt after the first time what to expect. There is a point where lag is to be expected, and by committing your forces to the fight anyway you lose the right to dispute the kill becauseof lag.

I hate to break it to you, but that's how station wars work - it's all about who can put up and keep up the most towers. D2 soundly beat you on that front, making it very clear that you weren't capable of holding the station. If you were, you'd still have it, no?

The dread thing is one issue,
the fact that you lost every bigger fight in XZH despite the POS assaults, that we killed your 54 bubbelcamp with a few BS and support, getting about 150killmails, loosing 6 of ours. How you dare to say that you achieved anything military?
Your moral was broken, your guys were helpless, your retreat was uncoordinated.

True. Although certainly not very entertaining for both sides, building towers and therefore outspending the enemy if you will is a perfectly legitimate part of modern territorial warfare. At the end of the day victory is what counts. Not so much how "beautifully" you achieved it. ---

Good is simply a matter of perspective. If might makes right then good always prevails. Both sides have their own valorous and self-sacrificing members- both sides fought hard. The stronger won.
Good fighting D2, hope to see you guys in space again sometime.

While trying to avoid the obvious bait, I believe there is some merit in considering fleet composition and systematic strugglers when withdrawing a 2000+ member alliance from a region. Valuable lessons were learned through trial and error. All things considered, I'm content with our performance. :)
Many thanks to D2 et al for the great fights. You've gave this newbie a few tips on living without a station and how exciting defending a dread assault can be. Hope to see you again soon!

How about you stop putting words in my mouth. I blame one single failure of D2 on lag, loosing Dreads during POS attacks.
Do you want me to claim nberness and spam the forums about how we completely crashed your whole weekend assault on Friday? Oh wait, the servers couldnŠt handle it. But of course thats something totally different, isnŠt it?
My point is simple. Stop to adorn yourselfes with borrowed plumes and all youŠll hear from me is a "good fight" in local.
