How can I find out what corporation or faction will give me a particular mission? For example, if I want to run Level 4 "Massive Assault" versus Minmatar, who gives it out? I haven't found any web sites that have that info nor any way to find it in game. |

If it's an Anti-Empire encounter mission it will usually be offered from that Factions enemy.
Basically :
Amarr verses Minmatar
Caldari verses Gallente
That's just a basic example. Going by Lore you should get more Anti-Minmatar missions from Amarr as well as a random chance to get the same mission offered from Caldari and vice versa.
Anyway, you can pretty much count on it being Amarr & Caldari verses Minmatar & Gallente. As for which corps offer more Anti-Empire encounter missions, I think those would be offered more from the Military Corps.
Course that's just my opinion.

That's not really how it works, though there are some things you can do to increase the chance for certain types of missions being offered. Agents pick from a small pool of missions that are generated when you first meet them, though exactly how that list is generated has been at best a mystery the Devs have yet to shed much light on. What scant little information on this is often speculative and rumor, rather than confirmed.
Picking agents between organizations, such as a military corporations = higher chance for rival anti-faction missions
Picking agents with certain storyline agents as nearest = more chance for that storyline agent's mission type (security agent = combat missions, distributions agent = crap missions, mining agent = other crap missions)
Picking region = higher chance for that region's local pirates being the target for combat missions, example missions offered in Kador tend to be against Blood Raiders, while other regions in Amarr tend to be against Nation targets.
Consistently declining undesirable missions and accepting (and COMPLETING) desired missions seems to affect a hidden stat for that agent, increasing slightly the chance that they offer you the missions you like and decreasing the chances they offer you the one's you dislike. This "milking" is likely tied to their individual standings towards you, as you complete missions with them they tend to over time gravitate towards the missions you seem to like most. Please note, I have noticed over the years that the random mission list agents generate seem to periodically reset and start over, as I've had agents suddenly offer missions that I've never seen before and cease offering missions I've accepted and completed for them hundreds of times.
There maybe other factors, but you simply cannot expect any agent to give you an exact mission and target type, you can only simply do things to better enure that missions generally similar to that one are more frequently offered. |

There are known and unknown parts that I figured out about missions.
Known parts that affect missions:
- Region -> This is by far most affecting factor for NPC missions, examples below
Amarr -> Sansha Ammatar -> Blood Gallente -> Serpentis Caldari -> Guristas Minmatar -> Angels Khanid -> Sansha/Blood (not sure, I think it might be Blood only) This pretty much covers most of default missions
Agent -> Agent itself has a secondary selections of missions based on his faction From what I gathered, Minmatar agent in Amarr space will tend to give you some missions against Angels, but that is pretty much insignificant Agents have a mission pool. That is for sure, just CCP won't release data about that, but for example running for 2 agents in same constellation, same faction (for example 2 Amarr agents in Domain), I've never got Dread Pirate Scarlet from one of them, but other one is giving it out regularly. So your best bet is to go to agent and run several missions to see how you like him. My current agent in domain gives me loads of Massive Attack vs Serps Dread Pirate Scarlet Vengeance vs Sansha Blockade vs Sansha Sansha spies vs Sansha Duo of death vs Sansha Angel Extravaganza (keep in mind there is no Sansha version of this mission, so proly this is default mission for amarr space regarding Extravaganzas). Here and there I get some other missions that are vs Angles, but those missions don't have Sansha versions and I'm suspecting I'm getting Angel versions because of the agent himself (he is Minmatar agent)
So general formula I found out is: Randomize mission from pool. If there is region specific mission, provide mission vs those rats If there is no version of mission vs those region specific rats, provide mission against rats usually found in agents original space
Also, I've noted that regarding anti-faction missions, agents corporation has some play to it. Working for Amarr Navy or Caldari Navy will give you more missions vs Gallente and Minmatar then working for Amarr Civil News or something similar. Keep in mind that's my notice, not something confirmed.
In any case, yea, would be great if we could see agents pools, but we can't, and they definitely exist in some form or other

Trick question. There is no mission called "Massive Assault".
But there is a mission called "The Assault" and one called "Massive Attack" and they both have minmatar variants according to eve survival. I don't think I ever recall seeing these v minmatar, so I want to say these might be given by the angels pirate faction. (Or maybe caldari space, don't have a mission setup going on there either) |

This is not the whole picture. For the most part of my EVE-life I've been working for Gallente agents and I have been offered actually so many missions versus Amarr that my standing to them was much worse than to Caldari, before I realised it and started towards improving both. |

All I did was give a basic example without jumping into a lot of speculation and theory crafting. As I stated in my initial reply :
Quote:Anyway, you can pretty much count on it being Amarr & Caldari verses Minmatar & Gallente. As for which corps offer more Anti-Empire encounter missions, I think those would be offered more from the Military Corps.
In the past I've posted my observations about what affects agent mission offers. Needless to say it was rebuked by a few people who said I was trying to place a rational pattern to a completely random mechanic. Of course I disagreed with them to no avail.
According to my observations, I get the impression the type of mission encounters (Anti-Empire or Anti-Pirate) offered from an agent is dictated by a few different aspects.
1) Agent Effective Standing - as agent standing increases, that agent will offer more of the same type of missions that were previously accepted and completed by the player.
2) Faction Standings - negative Factions listed in the players character sheet forms the base pool from which the encounter missions are offered.
3) Agent Location - agents located near enemy Faction borders seem to offer more Anti-Empire Faction encounter missions compared to agents located deep inside secure space who seem to offer more Anti-Pirate Faction encounter missions.
I have well over +7.00 standing with the main 4 Empire Factions and rarely ever get offered any Anti-Empire Faction encounter missions. I get offered Anti-Pirate Faction encounter missions well above 95% of the time. In fact the only time I actually get offered Anti-Empire encounter missions is when I first start working with a new agent. I always decline those missions and after a while the 3 aspects I listed above seem to take over.
I have no proof or graph to show. The above is purely conjecture based on observations of my standings, agent locations, mission offers and transaction logs.
I will state that in my experience the Gallente Faction agents tend to offer a higher percentage of Anti-Empire Faction encounter missions when compared to the other Empire Factions.

I'm just going to say: we don't really know. In my experience, certain individual agents only offer a limited pool of missions from those available to that faction/region/corporation in addition to everything else.
Note, however, that all said experience is a couple of years old now; I haven't aggressively run missions since.... early 2011? Maybe as far back as 2010.
Still, I have never seen a data set large and detailed enough that takes into account everything needed to test any hypothesis beyond the very simple two statements: 1) which anti-pirate missions you get seems to be determined by local belt rats and 2) which anti-empire missions you get is restricted to the enemies of the faction you're running for. Whether or not DMC's additional hypotheses pan out isn't a question I believe can be answered by available data. |

Thanks everyone. I was afraid there wasn't an easy way to tell. I've done a lot of missions in Amarr and Khanid space, and much as I would like, I get few dedicated anti-Minmatar missions. I do get Enemies Abound which is mostly Gallente and only one of the 5 in the series versus Minmatar.
And yes, I mistyped. Should have been Massive Attack in my example. For Massive Attack, almost always I get it versus Sansha. Rarely, it'll be versus Blood Raiders. I've never seen it against Minmatar, but someone asked for help in channel for that version and I was like: "What? Yes, yes, yes! Where are you?!?!" Apparently I scared them off, they never answered so I didn't find out who they were running for. :( |

And so I thought I was the only one who got this impression...
For the rest, I have similar observations too. |
