Cant move loot from loot can into cargo. Undocking takes 3-4 minutes in a quiet system and drones wont launch.

Ok, I know this not my ISP's problem, and I'm sure everyone in the Western Hemisphere is not using the same ISP, so it aint that.
This is the second time this week when my corp members and me have lost at least 1 hour of gameplay due to server unavailability issues. I know people will say "go outside and have fun" but it's TOO FREAKIN HOT OUTSIDE!!!
Please, CCP, tell us what's going on and whether we can expect these kind of outages more regularly OR is this just an anomoly which keeps happening?

Issues?
How's about this
2 Minutes to change a ship, serious module activation delay, unable to open loot containers, undocking takes 5 minutes
Agent page takes more than 5 mins to load, lag delay in getting other char info
In other words, the server is screwed
At the end of the Day CCP, and i cant get slammed all u want for this, you have more than enough money to get servers and programes to stop this crap and lag. So use it. Im ****ed off? Your damn right i am.

Yesterday was the same thing, Oveur told us the TQ problem would be solved after downtime, no other news ATM. Be your journeys long and prosperous. |

Yes, Eve is lagging like a dog attached to a chainlink fence.
Now that we have that sorted, let us look at a couple of issues.
1) Why in the hell are the forums running on the same cluster as the game? When we need help because the game has augered itself, having the forums lag as well is.... well... assinine.
2) Yes the game is laggy, CCP will fix it, but having no recourse to see the issue, because the forums are on the same servers, is moronic.
Thank you very much, have a nice day.

You want Issues eh?
Took 5-10 minutes to connect to eve, another 5 to load the station I am in.
5 mins for a skill to start training.
Leaving or docking from/to station takes forever.
Wont even attempt to mine or rat.
Forums are even lagged to hell.
I have yet to try anything else, because if it takes as long as it did for the things posted above it will take just as long or longer to do other things.

Here's some help for CCP to find out where to look:
I'm having no lag activating mods and doing most other stuff.
But, I'm getting crazy lag doing anything that involves moving items! Loading Ammo, Launching Drones, and Looting Containers!
Hope that helps you find the source of the problem!

Have You applied some hotfix back to the first RMR version?
Not only lag, I get the odd ammunition bug, not loading ammo into ACs when going to a larger shell forcing you to do so manually. Was the same after RMR iirc. Plus the nice addition they just sent my T2-ammo into oblivion while loading without firing a single shot it disappeared giving the message "You fail to move that because it is no longer within your reach." wtf?

I reprocessed loot while the server was lagging horribly.. I never got it. I got atleast 25k of trit, 5 units of zydrine, 104 units of isogen, 5 megacyte, 50 nocxium.. and atleast 10k of pyerite.. is there any way to look into this to reimburse me the proper amount? I'd hate to get what I say they are and they actually be a lot lower...

Whassup CCP? Cmon you can do better than this. I don't throw my subscription money down a lag-hole, so y'all got about a week to fix this before I put my MMO dollars elsewhere.
Too much downtime and lag for me - it wasn't like this a few weeks ago when I started playing. I'm sorely disappointed. Such potential this game has.... ===========================

I reported the lag when it first started to spike around 7pm Eurotime and recieved a response to the effect tht there was 'no lag detected' back. Which obviously was completely counter to the 40 or so people in differant regions I was checking with at the time.
If CCP tech support actually investigated initial indicators of server lag/node problems rather then just spammed generic responses to concerned players, then maybe these things could be nipped in the bud with a reboot.

The reimbursement team need to get their **** together and get people their stuff back inside the week, not coming around a month down the line saying their logs show nothing.
I can deal with massive lag and outages like this if it's that alone, losing expensive eqipment and this is not an option, get it together!
Hell even the forums ain't working properly and hasn't done so for months now, subpar.

I reckon the best way to deal with the lag would be for one of the GM's to take his polaris skill book trained character and a system wide smart bomb and have a little expedition to Jita, followed by that system with 500+ players goonfleet blob mines in. Problem solved

Some of the out of game stuff like the forum, which is technically not essential, is bound to suffer the odd issue in the height of summer when ccp staff are taking their summer leave and the like, but the in game situation needs to be addressed urgently.

Try reversing the polarity on the server couplings. If that doesn't work try throwing water on the server to let it cool down.
You can also try:
Hiring a scottsman. Hiring an angry Russian. He must be angry. Finding a neuclear wessle and absorbing the anti-protons to refresh the computer cores reverse modulator. Tie all of the server's wires into a mobius strip. Configure the server to be self aware, convince it that it has children, and threaten said children. "Because its a microsoft product theres a simple microsoft solution. Throw more hardware at it." - Michela Duct Tape Get a little hammer and break out the "I WIN" button. Have japanese school girls in sailor outfits use their ammazing kung fu skills on the server. Call Mr. Wizard. Call Batman. Reverse the polarity of the phase converters to fire tachyon pulses and generate an antimatter dimensional rift. Get the server laid. Pray to the giant flying spaghetti monster, for his noodley appendages will save us all. Just say no. Find a rolled upnews paper. Get the server high. Give the server Mt. Dew Shoot it up with amphetamines. Change its daiper. Kick its ass and take its name. Stick another co-porocesser in a low. Tell the server never to talk to strangers again.

Don't worry. It very rare. Sometime only a couple of region ca get lag, but rarely universe wide. give them about 1-2 hours and everything should work fine.

it's a shame people have to be ***'es and whine massively when something happens to the server :(
to those who wonder.. no this kind of stuff doesn't happen alot. It's just that as soon as people see trouble they start whining like they have never whined before.. people should try and think if the processes, programming and managing of a game like Eve takes. whining doesn't solve anything.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok the servers issues have been found and fixed. The problem was that the transaction log on the DB was full and no more room for data tables to grow. With that problem the CUP got out of hands and lot of other issues followed. The stuck systems have been restored and market regions reloaded.
We hope this is now over and the rest of the day can go with out problems.

Seems to be working well for me at the moment in Everyshore. Good job. I was on the verge of booting up Counter-Strike but I decided to hang tight for about 20-30 minutes and my hopes were not disappointed.
At times like this I do feel sorry for CCP. What time is it over there? People only appreciate what you do when it stops working - then they decide to throw the toys out of the pram.

P.s Do pass on my suggestion for consideration...might make up for some comic relief for some poor souls to get over the initial horrors of lag stuff..until they will get assimilated...... ya I'm having some beer....

Originally by: Major Gormur Ok the servers issues have been found and fixed. The problem was that the transaction log on the DB was full and no more room for data tables to grow. With that problem the CUP got out of hands and lot of other issues followed. The stuck systems have been restored and market regions reloaded.
We hope this is now over and the rest of the day can go with out problems.

One of the things I do during "database maintenance" for my customers is delete old transaction logs and old SQL server backups to disk BEFORE you have 200000 files or the hard disk fills up.
Didn't we have "database maintenance" earlier this week and if so weren't these things done?

That would explain why destroyed ships were hanging around the spot they had been killed. Must admit, gave me a few moments of excitement when I logged in, warping to station to see an enemy Scorp 145km out.... quick warp out to moon, warp to another moon to get in position and warp in to station at 100km to land 20km from him; all the while calling for gang invite (which I got), only to find I couldn't lock him.
Well the guys got a good laugh from it at least

Isikemi is still hosed. Logging in while in the system has resulted in with the game hanging at "Logging in as Osiris Lennart...".
As a suggention, make the petition menu from the options ("Esc") menu viewable of all open petitions when the game UI isn't available. I have two open petitions that I cannot reply to, nor can I create a new one since you only allow one open petition of each type becuase the game will not load up the UI. Better than having eveyrbody that can't log in (which seems to be a growing number) leaving messages here and forcing people to split their attention between the forums and maintaining the game.

Good work.
One of the things I like about the feedback from the devs here, is they say what was wrong and how it was fixed. Rather then just waiting till the next server reboot, fixing it and denying any issue with the server/code and saying to any bug reports that issues were client side, as the boiler suited tech monkeys from certain other mmo currently widely played we wont mention by name do.

You will end up lagg'n out for 5 minutes, then finally the station environment of where you jumped to loads, but you hanger is still the station you jumped from hanger. Then you will CTD. And after a long laggy log back in, you'll find that all your implants are gone
Confirmed, jumpcloning last night cost people their implants, now how will that be dealt with?

Please advise.

I thik the term generally used goes along the lines of "Sucks to be you".

Varar's posts over the last few weeks gives an indication why it isn't as simple as that. The transaction logs are stored on the RAMSAN, to keep them nice and fast. There is limited space on the RAMSAN, so the transaction log cannot grow indefinitely. Doesn't really help allowing the log to grow as needed when there's nowhere to store the extra lines. Usually this is managed so that there is enough space on the RAMSAN to handle things. But as the recent case of running out of ItemID's suggests, database use at the moment is seeing spikes well outside normal expectations, so that space is being used up much faster. Combine that with a skeleton crew covering holidays and you get the odd slip-up. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |
