My big break was when I finally had the fitting skills to fill all the slots on my Golem. I still didn't have the skills to fit rigs, but just the move to T2 launchers alone was excellent. Caldari Navy launchers get expensive.

Wanted to quit eve every week the forst six months, salvaging and missions made me some space money.
Ratting lowsec in a thrasher was good because the turrets were worth getting, that got nerfed.
Then it was shooting npc haulers in hisec to feed a science pos and selling the excess, hit 800m and stopped caring about losses, then the hauler loot got nerfed.
After 800m in wallet and assets, the balance stopped being the space scorecard. From then on it was fun derived from doing new things or making others upset.
THEN a friend raegquit and left me all his stuff.
THEN i found what seemed to be the assets of an entire corp (or extremely rich maniac) floating in space in freight containers.
Coincidentally, Enormous Freight Containers got nerfed that week. |

I used to grind missions and stuff, but now I just look at market PLEX prices, cackle evilly, and buy PLEX from CCP when they have a sale.

Year ago right after WHs started I joined a bad "noob" WH corp and they left me there alone for months with only my drake, a harbi, and some mining stuff.
One day he logged in and pulled everything down, told me he was shutting corp down and all of a sudden I was rolling in the dough because he liquidated everything and gave it to me.

If I recall, when I started playing in 2006 I quickly realised that mission running wasn't for me.
So I started mining which was pretty relaxing because I have a stressful job however I also realised that there were bigger fish to fry in alliance 0.0 space.
I mined in highsec so that I had enough to buy a battleship and that allowed me to apply for Pure. Alliance. That was my break.
After that it was like stealing candy from a child. Way back then high end minerals were extremely expensive, Morphite was like 15000 p/u, mega around 5k and zyd around 3k.
A few months in a true 0.0 belt and 3 alt accounts later I was pretty damn rich, rich enough to buy the T2 BPO's that I have to this day.
Of course, I continued the mining operations, bought a Rorqual and whatnot, even had my rl m8 join in with some more miners.
Nowadays I don't mine at all because it simply isn't profitable, so I invest my money in various items and minerals, pretty much 5-10b at a time, and hope they increase in value.
Yep, I don't do much research before I invest but everyone knows moon minerals, rare items etc always fluctuate so it's just a matter of time before it's profitable to sell them. |

The few times I was in a corp/alliances there were scammers that would rip off their own corpmates. So I figured if my own corp mates would do that, I would fly alone. Bored, sure but never ripped off again... |

NEVER, always got into crappy corps where people couldn't be bothered to answer a question let alone help out. I did once get some help with isk but no ships, rentals, etc. Even in mining corps, would wait for the mining nights to begin and they would get cancelled. Jumped around a bit and now im back in Highsec, licking my wounds from another lame corp that cant protect its own miners, pisses everyone off and gets war decced every other day.
One day. I guess. But I only play this game off and on even though my toon is old. Just had a bad start and never really picked up after that. |
