I'm not saying it matters if anyone thinks you're a spacecoward (it doesn't), but you'll find that people are a little bit more willing to chat with you if there's some sign of putting yourself out there. It doesn't have to be a good activity record, either. If you lose stuff and you're ok with it, that would back up your attitude, don't you think? The very first character I ever made (and only recently remembered the registration email address I used, so I could get access to it again) was Amarr, but I ended up flying Caldari for PVE. So my character's race doesn't necessarily have to be the same as the ships I fly. The thing about the Tengu in this situation (against surprise Tornadoes) is their tank is very low before the damage mods are turned on, like a damage control and shield hardeners (the orange shield icons). The trick is to apply a barrage of damage from a ship like the Tornado in that time before the damage mods are activated on the Tengu. Depending on the ship being targeted, you just add more Tornadoes until you exceed the Tengu's hit points with 1 coordinated volley. In a knock-down drag-out fight, yes, a ship like the Tengu can repair itself and last a while against something like the Tornado, win even, but that's a very honorable situation like you are thinking of, which is imaginary right now.
