I am currently playing around with an Oneiros, and have regrettably come to realise that the only realistic use ( i.e. one that doesnt involve imediately being called primary and insta-popped ) is in mission and 'plex support.
I think this is a real shame. With good skills the Oneiros is more than capable of holding 4 medium reps WITHOUT needing to dedicate every spare slot to cap mods. With Logistics 4 and Remote rep systems 5 a named Large cap battery and maybe 3 cpr's and 2 cap chargers it can hold all 4 reps. This leaves a low and 2 mids that are effectively worthless because its already achieving its maximum armour rep, and in a pve support role theres no reason for it to ever take any damage. With Logistics 5 u could probably free up another low and mid.
I think this is a real shame.
I was thinking about what could maybe be done to make these ships more usable outside of a " Safe " PvE environment.
And tbh i couldnt. The best i came up with was a second tier of logistics cruiser with a far tuffer tank or possibly even a Tech 2 BC with similar bonuses to a Logistics cruiser.
I was just wondering if anyone else could come up with something better, or shall i just give up ?

Yeah, u can fit a tracking link or 2 ( Oneiros has a bonus to them ) but they go in the same stacking tree as tracking computers and tracking enhancers. As the ship your boosting will probably be quite ganky ( because you are tanking for it ) and already have 2 or even 3 of these fitted the effect is severly limited.

The only way to make them work to their full potential in pvp(they have their uses, but it's still dodgy) is to make fleet combat slower, smaller and more fun(in my view of course).
I for one really liked the fights in the tournament. Mixed fleets, with small numbers and good teamwork with logistics ships and drones.
It could take a while and some maneuvering to take out a person.
The only way to bring realistic(to a degree) and fun fights into the fleet battles of eve is to not make it so damned easy of the blobs.
Bumping should be more of a problem than it is now. Ships intercecting your firing arcs would be hit. This is the thing I find worse than just about everything. A blob warps in a mixed up...well...blob and start to fire on a single target. half of the ships are in the way of the other persons guns and should be hit instead... but the shots magically travel in a straight line to the target and blow him up. The explosions from the hits would dimish the damage even, but no such thing...
Well. I doubt it's going to happen. The blobs will still rule the day, and lag can kill better than any gun so there will never be a reason to stop blobbing about...
I just wish there was.

Sadly, Logistics has simply become a step on the way to fleet command ships.
I think these ships could do with some nifty specialized modules. I'd really like to see these able to carry a whole pile of cap boosters, provide drones and ammunition to ships out of reach, etc. Since they can't run gang links, at least give them something useful to do aside from remote rep. Allow them some kind of cool special ability like a mini-jump module that lets it jump to gang members on grid that may be far away or some such. I dunno, something creative and unique that would make them worth using.

I wouldn't mind seeing Fleet Command Ships dropping their combat bonus, and instead getting a logistics bonus.. but that's just me.
I agree though. T1 Cruisers (Augoror, Exequror, Osprey, theOtherOne) now all have a basic remote repper/booster bonus; and cost about 20m and a month of skill training less. The only real reason to train to logistics is a stepping stone.
I guess if they got a buff, say a reduced sig radius or a boosted set of resists (omg! more T2 resists I hear you cry!) then it would make its survivability higher in PvP situations. Even if it were a massively nerfed combat ship.
Low/mids, well PvP wise they both help keep the ship alive. What about risking the ship a little more and using target painters?
