It was mentioned off-handedly in the post, and I have learnt to always double check these sorts of facts on the forums. By searching, I found lots and lots of posts debating about this subject (no surprise), but I'm not looking to debate it, just want to know if it is written down somewhere that I havnt found yet. Is there anything definitive from the Devs? Would someone be so kind as to provide a link here to the official word if it is indeed been decided? Either way, the whiners lose. What you need is a system where its possible to secure a limited amount of space effectively, but at considerable cost. The rest of space should be much less secure, and hence more dangerous. So ideally, if you removed local, you would add a powerful radar/scanning module to be added to POSses or something similar, which relays all the information that people currently get from local to all friendly/alliance players in local. I.e., when in NOL, BoB should be able to have a module at their POSses that makes sure all their members in NOL know who just entered the system, just like current local. Ideally, it would show current standings towards the alliance as well, so you don't have to click every bloody person entering local to be safe. The same with AZN for ASCN, or C-J for RA, XZH for D2 etc etc. But if a BoB fleet goes to XZH, that information should not be available. So if an alliance is willing to invest in it, they can have all the information from the current local channel. But if you're passing through unclaimed space, that information should be absent for everybody, unless they put down a POS there.

Have the new region be disconeted or something. Anyway way ya what people are saying here just hear say and no real facts... nothing is a fact in eve until it is in eve.. Everything changes by the time it hits SiS anway So just wait and see. You will have local for anouther year than some one will say local is being removed.. a year later you will still have local and rinse and repeat

It would make cov ops VERY powerful, often times you would see that recon would win the fight. Operations would have to be planned and followed through with to a T. However, changes to ship modules and such would have to take place to make recon a bit more viable. Sure you can use an alt in a shuttle now, but really... wtfhellz0rs is a shuttle doing running recon missions? So yes its a game, but I'd like to see people be able to survive in 0.0 with only one account and no alts. Your main should be your main, our ships should do awesome things and each ship should have a niche. Btw, there should be ECM ships and thats it .02 injection hehe. Oh and another thing. They should be paper thin cruisers like the blackbird. ECM should not be able to be fit on any ol' ship. /rant how did this turn into an ECM rant? hahaha ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal for 10ml!!!

Only pilots who are within visual range should appear on it, and when they leave visual range, they leave local. All other channels should be optional.

Whether or not they do it is probably not going to be announced until the last minute, somewhere in between feature promises and eye candy. Personally I find it irritating that the most important issue in EVE hasn't been blogged about in over a year, but I guess it would make for some bad marketing to have people speculate and prophecize doom months in advance. Hmm You wish All I'm in favor of is the "dont-speak-dont-show" function which should be active in lowsec (perhaps, its stil somewhat a learning ground) and 0.0.
