Lo, aint played since back when m0o were about, made this new toon. Any decent Pirate corps terrorising people? I like how eve has changed, like with all the new content, but there seem to be more****z whining about getting shot etc. Well there seems to be less "griefing", good I guess.
Gotta say, totally enjoying getting flagged while stealing ore, soo much fun! |

There are all sorts of pirates running about. Just enter lowsec and go NPCing for about five minutes. If you don't die jumping in to a gatecamp, your local pirates should come calling shortly. -Wrayeth

EDIT: Ok you might have trouble getting it out of an alliance ------------- CELES because making the tough guys cry is funnier. |

Sadly, Eve is moving more toward terratorial control and large scale warfare, so a lot of the work is being put in there and smaller corps and solo players are being left behind as more and more people join alliances.
Pirating the real way is becoming less and less easly unless you fight the blob, or angry mob.
There's still a few corps out there who do it sucessfully though, and those are the people you're most likely to get ransomed by in lowsec.

More often than not your gonna run into griefers that dont realise its easier to ransom than to just kill. You'll also get people that will ransom your ship, and then just kill you anyway. That in turn makes most people not want to pay the ransom. It's all messed up mate. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

Myself and my corp are still trying to cling to the old pirate ways. That is, we dnt just sit at gates poppin' shuttles. We scan our targets, we move quickly, don't hang around too long. Wherever we can we ransom, and I like to think we do it with class
I also very much enjoy solo pirating, i find it a challenge, but a fun nd satisfying one, like trying to bed your best friends mum in a way.

We will ransom if we catch you in a belt or at a gate camp were we are at our leisure, but I think out of the dozens of ransoms we have offered in passari maybe two have been accepted...

Its different now in that many people got the chance to play WoW and the such and came to EVE where they proceeded to get killed multiple times without their consent and so got very upset and made millions of threads on the forums complaining about the game mechanics and how they find it too difficult to adapt
and the like
but real piracy still exists

Edited by: Ranx Xerox on 16/08/2006 11:49:52 I have passed severals days in passari just to look what happen and how you achieve your +100 killpod / day
So from what i see, any people in something other than a BC / BS / Industrial is instakilled by snip at 250 kms, no time for ranson, peole die in max 3 seconds after uncloak
So when you speak about 2 people that agree, maybe you should try to ransom more often

The eagle(s) are there to catch pods, shuttles, frigs
We kill industrials as we dont know whats in them. We dont fit the scanner modules as they are a waste of med slots and ccp cba fixing it
We ransom when we want to, we have to deal with the anti pirates after us as well so we tend to want to get things dealt with quickly
When we roam we will always offer a ransom to a BS, but just because we can ransom at gates doesnt mean we have to

Well, you can look at people who rarely ransom as griefers instead of pirates, but the truth is (half quoted from a corpmate), "blowing up the ship is like opening a fortune cookie." ----------- ----------- -----------

personally i believe that piracy is more or less dead in eve. I know there are still a few people out there that try and ransom people in the hope to get some isk. Personally i gave up on ransoming, ill rather kill off the ship and take the loot. Instead of everytime you scramble someone shoot em to structure and start a convo, they will either warp off with stabs anyway or give you the magic words of "**** you ill get you for this" so ill take the loot and let them write the **** you in local which will come. People in eve have to much isk these days, that they dont care about losing a ship or an implant. We have gone from geniune pirates and become pirates or griefers if you like. We still kill for isk as we allways have as pirates too, but in my world a pirate ransom, and since people dont pay anymore people are more like "loot pickers" or "capitalistic pvp'ers" more than pirates!

Edited by: Naburi NasNaburi on 17/08/2006 16:27:29 Lately many people keep telling me that the only true way of pirating is setting up huge gatecamps with tons of bubbles.
Makes me sad.. there is so much more potential and so much more fun if you actually PLAY your role of a pirate.
When pointing that out Ive had people laugh at me. Quote: You dont get enough kills like that.
Honestly I prefer having ONE ransom/kill with style and fun for both sides over taking part in a gatecamp to produce a mass-grave.

Well it's not really about getting kills always.
Most people are just stabbed these days. Then if you get enough points on them and open convo, they still won't pay.
So shrug. It's probably not the pirates fault that we arn't ransoming nearly as much as people seem to want. Why can't we ever pirate those who want to pay vs cursing and going down in flames? ----------- ----------- -----------

Edited by: Shamis Orzoz on 17/08/2006 19:29:20 Piracy has evolved. Adapt or be forgotten.
Low sec empire belt piracy is a good way to be really bored and make very little isk. Low sec gatecamps are profitable, but almost as boring.
Deep 0.0 piracy is where its at. That is where all the rich carebears live...or at least the ones that aren't protected by concord.
