I had a scary dream last night.
My daughter and I were being chased by zombies. We turned a corner and came upon the CCP staff filming the 'Amarr Worship' scene for the new propaganda film.
So here were all these actors, strung up helpless in harnesses to simulate the micro-gravity in which the truly devout practice their dedication, set out like buffet. My ex-wife was the first to be eaten by the zombie hoard as they overwhelmed the set. It was a total bloodbath.
Fortunately, I fought them off with Michonne's sword and my daughter and I escaped.
The season opener for TWD always affects me weirdly. Still, it would be some great content to supply my favorite two things in the world. Sci-fi and zombies.
If the new server had stuff like this, I would totally sign up!

Yes.
I would play a restarted EVE. It would be fun to see everyone start from zero again.
The two things that would ruin the fun, however, would be PLEX and ISboxing. I would say that a new instance of the game should be PLEX and ISBox free for the first year, at least as much as possible.
Interestingly, the game that EVE was primarily based off of, Tradewars2002, would reset at a specific time and whoever owned the most space, credits and just plain "stuff" combined was the winner of that round. |

As a newish player, I wouldn't expect my relative power to increase on a brand new server. Knowledge is power and a new server won't make me more competitive. Only time/experience will. |

Let me put this in another similar context. "Hello Mr. x, this is your bank. We know you have worked hard and diligently kept up your mortgage payment up for the last 8 years, BUT we really want you to start over from the beginning."

Read OP again - not asking for a reset but talking about a new server. No reason to panic - you can keep what you have Proud designer of glasses for geeky dovakins Before someone complains again: grrr everyone |

Drago Shouna wrote:Jenn aSide wrote:It has nothing to do with veterans wanting to maintain some illusory advantage. EVE isn't like other MMOs where "level" matters. Character skills don't make you 'better' for the most part , they mostly give you access to new equipment and ways of doing things.
I sold the 1st character I ever made and i still have the 2nd one. That 2nd character can fly more ships and use more guns than any of my other characters. But the 3 focused characters I made (for various PVE related things, like incursions and Faction warfare missions) are much younger and much much better at what I use them for than that character that is years older.
Bottom line, a 'clean slate' won't cure a bad player's inadequacies (no matter how many skill points they have, they will still suck) and a good player isn't concerned about this kind of thing in the 1st place because he is more concerned about creating a good character that can do what needs to be done. Why do you automatically presume anyone agreeing that there might be a case for a new server is a "bad" player? That's akin to thinking that everyone leaving a shop is a shoplifter... My character is exactly where I want him to be, same with alts. I can do whatever I want to and mostly buy whatever I want to. But I must suck because I think the idea has merit? Really? Man that's a narrow minded viewpoint. Some players on here have had the satisfaction of starting with a clean slate when this server started, with nothing freely available to buy apart from skill books and blueprints. Then building everything from scratch. I wouldn't mind having the same opportunity.
I started playing EVE 4 years after it launched. I then 'built everything from scratch". What does this have to do with what anyone else is doing. If you want to start from scratch, do so, make a new alt and don't give yourself any resources from your existing characters.
But to say that a fundamental change to a game that would have an effect on the holders of 400,000 accounts is reasonable 'because you'd like a clean slate' is both unreasonable and insanely selfish. The 'single shard universe' (minus what CCP has had to do to appease the Chinese Government) is a core aspect of EVE Online and should not be screwed with. Ever.
And yeas, making the mere suggestion denotes a bad player. |

Edit: I've been playing for four years on my main account, and opened two alt accounts this past year. Would definitely be interested in a new server instance.
This thread happens a lot, and the answer is always mostly "yes".... resoundingly so, in fact. That moment when you realize the crazy lady with all the cats was right... |

If you could train skills on both pilots at the same time hell yeah I would play on two separate servers. Why not, it would be a clean slate that would be crapped on within a few weeks but the tears would be priceless from bitter vets complaining about how dead the server is.
