Hey all. First id like to say how ive been enjoying the game for my brief life here.
I started playing just over 2 weeks ago, i was doing some missions in 0.5 minding my own while learning the all important learning skills.
i made a little cash, got a Rifter and fitted it to the points i was doing the level one missions with ease. then i got a mission to trasport some items - a important mission, i had to buy a hauler to do this (and train the skills up) - so i set off and picked the goods up, on the way back Ginger very nicely blew my ship up and the chance of the implant. and added a pod kill.
a few days later ive done some more missions got a few implants and i have another important mission to the same place, this time i go in my frigate and try to use my afterburner through the gate up pops Mr Ginger and blows my ship away again, and my pod and my implants :(
the system hes in is the only 0.4 i have to go through and theres no way around it. i want to pvp in the end but hes been playing for 3 years and i have been playing for 2 weeks - if i was in his boots id think whats the point? there cant be any fun in sitting in a ship and podkilling a 2 week old player in 1 hit. giving me no chance at all.
i know ill get shot down from this post - its not a whine about being killed i know the risks - but my point is, is the game full of people who only joy is to sit at a gate and take away what little fun and items a 2 week old player has? His bio says Numo Uno pvper - this made me laugh - im sure in 3 years time ill beable to sit at a gate and kill 2 week old players as well, as im sure this takes lots of skill

This is a new and exciting topic that has never been discussed.
Also, despite your grief, namedropping is pretty lame.
Also also, he did it to you twice. In the same system. Maybe you can find a different way to get around him? And don't say there is none.

If you know how to avoid them you won't have a problem with them at all, by the time your ready you can go look em up again.
My advise, switch agent to somewhere else, get to a system where there's a level 1 and 2 agent of the same corp there, and do missions for them.. (And make sure there's no 0.4 or lower around it).. that way you don't have to deal with pirates unless you want to.
But to answer your question.. yes, a lot of pirates LOVE to camp gates for easy kills... trust me, you'll see many more of them before you reach 6 months playtime -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Xaroth Brook Brainiac of Doomcraft Member of R I S E

Ginger is very well known for doing this. Tell the locals and a lynch mob will usually go for him.

You're right, it's not. Hopefully that's consolation enough.

Ginger is something of a self declared pvp God... everyone else just chuckles and pats him on the head. As Maya says, Ginger isn't very popular, you should be able to get a lynch mob together with some effort.

Yup easy kills are what hes ater, as the other poster said some peeps just attack newbies...and ginger is probaly one of the worst examples...
On the other hand his threads can very funny, in the pointing and laughing at him sense ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

Umm, yes. yes it is. You need to be aware of that and plan accordingly.
Try to find another agent that is at least 4 jumps away from 0.4 and below. Agents will rarely send you more than 4 jumps, except for cargo missions.

Add him to your address book and you can see when he is online or not, when he's not go to that system and warp from the other gate to the one you normallt see him camping. When you come out of warp travel in a straight line until you've gone roughly 12km past the gate. This means when you look back at where you warped from the gate should be in line with that object and 12km away from you. At this point make a bookmark and in future warp to that as it means you come out of warp in jump range of the gate, whilst in warp also turn autopilot on as that will instantly jump you.
Doing the above for the other gates in that .4 will see you got safely through that system until you get to the point of trainign a covert ops skill and have a friend in a stilleto with -6 scrambling strength to pay Ginger a visit at his sniping spot.

Well sorry to hear that, but this is how PvP goes. In Lineage2 and WoW, you get high lvl PK running around in newbies area. Probably the only way you can get around it, is learn how to survived in low sec. Or change location, they don't make this game with huge universe for nothing.
Be sure there are other pirates and people (who suspect alt) would happily kill and pod newbies in low sec.
And no, 3 year old player isn't invincible. Have him ganked, webbed, scrambled, and nossed you get yourself a kill. Ever seen a battleship getting downed by swarms of frigates? ---------

i used the map option and set the route to safest first but the only way i could get through was through the one 0.4 system.
usualy it doesnt send me under 0.5 but twice ive had to go into this one system and twice hes been sat there waiting - im not sure if i should be ****ed off - happy for the lesson - or feel sorry for the life he must live

I can say very much that kain is real.
considering I had to help with the mopping up :p
as for the ganking. well live and learn really. now you know what not to do, tis very easy to avoid being ganked by pirates such as ginger once you get a hold of the ropes.
and please note to the people who didnt buy a clue and kept warping in at the gate for ginger to kill... cmon.

Kain Negas,
What you are describing is a typical part of any PVP environment. Eve might be unique in not coming up with ways to seperate the PVP-ready from the unready, but in any game there is a certain percentage of PVPers who get their kicks from killing noobs etc. It happens, eventually you'll be able to fight back and then you wont see them any more since that is exactly what they don't want.

Been there, done that: they run or blob. Pointless.
I don't quite see the point of 0.1 - 0.4 tbh, it could just be removed IMO. Empire and 0.0 is all we need. Lowsec is just giving lamers easy kills.
My apologies to any genuine pirate this could offend (you know, the type who ransom) but AFAIK most have long left the game.

QFT. Plus, everyone already knows the ALMIGHTY UBER PVPer that Ginger is. You drop that name and everyone BOOooooOOOOO....
Anyways, there are ways around this. Someone with healthy fingers can tell him. I'll get it started, use your alt to make bookmarks/scout before you go in. He'll most likely pod kill your alt too, but its no biggy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Win a Cynabal for 10ml!!! |

He's been hanging around Hagilur for the last few days, popped me and my pod the other day. I did have time to "lol" between the two, though I wish I had time to ask him if he had any small tractor BPOs I could get on the cheap.
Using a megathron with tech II 425s and I would assume a rack of stabs and a rack of sensor boosters.
Take Hans advice and make instas for now, and get payback later when you can.

It is unfortunately one of the N00b learning curves of Eve. I think almost everyone has been popped by a 'Ginger Magician' (GM) type pirate in low sec, in their time. If not then they have been very lucky or are an alt.
Although I do not condone the actions I must admit it is an easy way of getting some nice mods. Several times I have sat in Hagilur and watched GM pass the time & pod and when he wasn't looking, sneakily looked in the cans. Very tempting to help one's self I must admit but a theif I am not... well until today when GM caught me helping myself to mods from a can of his. I would have got away with it if it hadn't been for those pesky 'flashing red' give aways...
Anyways, Book mark / instas are the way ahead for crossing Hagilur and similar systems until N00b skills improve. Every day is a school day in Eve and this is an example of one such vertical learning curve, sad as it may be

Send me an Email ingame with the following details (some you already said but i would like it in an ingame email just to make sure)
1. The person who podded you
2. What ship they were in
3. The style of attack they used (ex, 120km gatecamp sniper)
4. The system name you were podded in
Email those and I will go out there with 5 or 6 people and remove him for you. I guarantee he will come back but i'll camp out there for a while and atleast get some sort of revenge for you.
