but atleast 9 month (it worked this way when i joined last november)
to those who scream "exploit!!1!" ... read the box before you accept a gang ...
to the OP ... maybe you couldn't warp away because he bounced you .. dunno if a domi is that useful for this - but normally bouncing is the a good way to tackle allmost everything - even stabmonkeys (not that i say you had stabs ) ___________________

Its in a huge pop up box, right above the button you have to click to accept the gang invite. If you are stupid enough to acept gang invites just to talk to some one, you get what you deserve when youre ship goes *pop*
maybe if you play @ 800x600 but like me at 1k6x1k2, youll need to crawl into the monitor to reed the 12pt wide font
There is a good way of avoiding this. Send your Monitor to me please _________________________________________________

how can u call the thread maker a noob when he has millions in NPC loot?
please guys, this player was obviously not paying any attention to the messages, the box however, should be in red!

I play with close to that pixel setting, the point is it still abig box in the middle of you screen. If you click through a screen without reading it, its nobodys propblem than your own.

I play at 1600x1200 on a 19" monitor and have no problems reading the 12pt font, although I do wear glasses so maybe that helps?
Moving slightly back to the main point of the topic - there is a warning box about joining warring gangs; best thing is just not to.

To the OP: the guy was not a cheater. O'Mara (from the shipyards) recently got tricked in a similar way in a freighter, and got ransomed for 500m. His reaction: "totally my fault". Learn from that.
To everyone else: An exploit can be something positive in the english language (heroic deed), so i take that you ment it that way. I dont see a reason for CCP to fix that though. Maybe i should start whining about evil exploiting griefers who abuse the forums obvious lack of a whine filter to post their carebear agendas ;)

Originally by: Eilie Move along people, nothing to see here... Just another n00b who can't read the big "JOIN WARRING GANG?" popup message...
The first time someone tried this on me, I saw the message and I knew something was strange so I read the rest of the info box and figured out exactly what he was trying to do. It's really simple to figure out... and if you can't, than maybe WoW would be a better game for you!
You didnt got it. I know that it could happens when iam ganged. I was bored, i wanted to know. I heared that a lot of Frigatte guys hanging around on the gates, scanning cargo and shooting on haulers. As i got the Gang invite, i thought that i run into this kind of trap, but i was not afraid cause of my jammers and my wcs on my hauler.
And it still have nothing to do with the fact, that i was holded by him without any kind of electronic help.

"warp in bumping"
If someone keeps running into your ship you will not be able to get aligned for warp. It suckes, but now you know not to accept gang invites from strangers. Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content - Cortes |

Also, closing the gang chat window does not mean you left the gang. (Just incase you did that) |

This is how i think he kept you from warping as well. A domi would easily be able to bump a hauler enough, and this is also a tactic used all the time and not an exploit.

As i said, i joined a new friendly corp gang after i was targeted.
But as i learned now, it does not help :) -- May the forces be with you! |

There is a very simple fix. Just turn auto-reject on. If they REALLY need to get in touch with you or gang with you....let them evemail you.

Yah Yah Yah, you are the 3433920th who wrote that now ;-)
I think we can close that thread now. The investigation was succesfull. It wasn't an exploit, it was just a lame trick. That's why we all love Eve. We are learning everyday something new.
Thanks for all your help community. Fly safe!

I said it before, I'll say it again:
CCP, please take a few minutes to make NO the default on popups.
If possible, spend alittle extra time ot make popups NOT take away focus completely.
Thank you.

Edited by: diskONE on 17/08/2006 18:07:54 my question is: if you join a gang who is at war(you are neutral) and the gang members are shooting a ship that is at war. You never shoot yourself and then leave the gang. Can that ship that your gang members were shooting at legally shoot you or would concord intervene? ____________________________________________
