I feel VERY sorry for you thinking of getting Horizons(trust me it isnt worth it) SWG, I have it, dont hate it but also dont like it, nice direction but.... its missing something. games im looking for too are...
Lineage 2 World of Warcarft Doom 3 Star Wars: Kights of the Old Republic(for PC)
Lineage 2 - seems to be very interesting,a game to keep an eye on with 4 million players in asia(2million in korea, 1.5 in taiwan, the rest though out asia and its coming to the US very soon! ) large guilds arent has dominating has in this game WoW - You want to play it, I want to play it, we all want to play it, its blizzard expect only great things(and from what im hearing its going to be an EQ killer ) Doom 3 - HL2 is out of those that get hack mods(shame on you)and come on now, looking that those screen shots you know you want to play it(if my comp can run it.......time for an upgrade 1gb of ram my ass ) star Wars: KoToR - deamed has one of the greatest star wars games ever made(with a story line better than the current star wars flicks)in its made by bioware, makers of one of my favorite games BG2

I will play EVE only until Worlds of Warcraft comes out, then I'm gone. It's not so much that I hate EVE, I will just be ready for a change by then I'm sure. After all, it's Blizzard, so we will all have to wait until Q4 2004 earliest, more likely sometime in 2005.

didn't mean to leave out WOW, but for me it will be the top of the pyramid as far as MMORPG's go so didn't list it, but
basically, everything else is a hold over until this baby is released
did not see the part that Horizons had no PvP...ah well... ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

If you guys think EVE is boring, I can't believe that you are even thinking about switching to Star Wars Galaxies. That is THE MOST BORING GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!! I played it for a week and quit. It is extremely complicated to learn. There is absolutely nothing to do in that game either. What's wrong with you people?

Warhammer online is possibly the only fantasy game I'd think of right now (I'm basically burned out on the genre after 3+ years in it) .. used to be a warhammer player meself (for those who dont know its a tabletop strategy battle game .. that I *think* people here in the UK got into when the US was getting into D&D) world of warcraft might be good (it is blizzard after all hehe) but for some reason I get put off by some of there graphical choices (like purple elves with ears a foot long :P)
sci-fi ones .. hmm haven't really thought about it .. prolly just gonna stick with EVE for the long-run (I've seen far too many mmorpgs with problems to expect any future one to suddenly brake the mold the genre has of rushed, problematic and under-funded) . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Im a bit skecthy on this one, but around 6-9 months ago i remember following a link to a site of an up and coming design crew. Its was basically the core of the original EQ designers (long before SoE got their nasty nerfing hands on it). Its was very early in development and was basically letting you know that they had poached all the original EQ team and that their "game" (didn't even have a name for it then) was going to take the EQ idea to the next level.
From the interviews and articles i read, they seemed to have addressed all the major flaws in EQ and the whole idea of what they were trying to achieve was awesome. Alas, many windows reinstalls later the url is lost and i've yet to find my way back to their site
Has anyone else come across this? It may have already been mentioned in this post, but at the time of reading their site, they hadn't even got a name for it. EQ is the most successful game of its type and still has the largest playerbase. Now if the guys who thought up the original idea of EQ, really can do what they promised, I feel its would be one to keep a close eye on.

Edited by: Saturn on 13/10/2003 21:26:36 Lately the demo of Etherlords II has been running non-stop on my computer. Highly recommended for "Magic the game online players" and others of the genre that are looking a nice new face to an old (but still damn fun) card table game.
I plan on Eve being replaced in its entirety by Eschaton. This game wont be out anytime soon but it has many and I mean many similarities to what Eve and its very outdated FAQ said Eve was/is going to be.
I dont know how many of you played Independence War, Edge of Chaos, but this is how I (Summer 2002 at the time) wanted Eve to be. Eschaton seems to be my next hopeful for this type game. Gotta love getting some trigger time!!! Check out the screenies! Gamespot review of Eschaton
Ok, last but not least for my subscription addiction will probably fall into the lap of World of Warcraft or Everquest II.

If blizzard deliver, which they have done in the past, I will definetely be trying World of Warcraft. However I have to take a break for 5 months from games ( ) so when I come back maybe eve will have all these things I have been waiting for since June. Then I will get hooked again....heres hoping

WoW will probably be cool. But I can't understand why everyone are so extremely excited, I can't see what's so special about it...
And people will be VERY dissapointed whatever happens with it... Either it will come out in time, and you people saying that it will be bug free will be wrong. Or it will be delayed...and delayed...and so on.
Blizzard won't be able to make a bug free game here if they want to actually release it. But I will try it when it comes out.
Anyway I will stick to EVE for a couple of years. Most likely two or even more. It will be soo cool when everything is in...player owned stations, the ability to claim territory etc... And PvP will really be fun when they fix it so the ship won't appear until the client has loaded the scene. Then they will be able to take away the 10 second timer too.
I really don't like FPS games or anything like that very much anymore, and no other MMOG's looks good right now. But I will play HL2.
I was thinking about buying SWG but it looks like it kinda sucks...so I won't do that.

The thing that saddens me most about this topic is that it is the beginning of many familar threads I saw in Mankind (www.mankind.net). Which I quit immediately on seeing the EVE alpha site about 2 years ago.
Mankind was EVE with fleets, but so many bugs, resets and the like people left in droves (and probably still are).
I think it's been said a lot here - no more Beta's for me either. I will give EVE 3 more months (just training, not playing) and then I'm going back to Playing Dark Age of Camelot. | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

Like most of you I'm very bored of Eve; so my character trains while I play other games, in hopes of EVE picking itself up again, but with a small feeling of watching my money dissapear into the futile void. I've found the old reliable blizzard universe again, and I'm playing Diablo 2 which is up for a new patch (and for anyone who still owns a copy of D2, I suggest you check it out. They are effectively restarting the D2 playing field for those of us who remember how it used to be, except with all those goodies we wanted). I'm even getting the urge for some StarCraft. I know WoW will be on my shopping list as soon as Blizzard deems it worthy of consumption, and I'm especially looking forward to a continuation of the Diablo story in what is sure to be another ingenious Blizzard title =).

ill maybe give a try at city of hero but honestly, after youve played eq for a while, all mmorpg looked the same, i mean you have to spend countless hour in devlopping a character, on never really get in the center of a real story except in few occasion and there is usally not much content or very repetitive content. i've played 80% of the mmorpg out there and more game you play, faster you will be bored, damn ive waited 3 years for star wars galaxies and took me 40 hours of gameplay to get bored and as another pointed it, this game is really really bad. If you want to play star wars, play any single player game and wait till it worth it unless you like an eq with some "laser" and lot of pet creature. The game is pointless.Eve need space adventure and tactical combat much like star fleet command to be an awesome game. Also, they could make a way to create war, ability to gain planete, system etc ability for high corp that hold system to hire police and raise security system install system tax etc.Adding a politic and military branch to this game would really rock imo
