The ONLY time I lose ships to NPC's is when the little buggers scram while I'm working on the ones doing the damage. Normally I would shot them IF I EVER KNEW THEY WERE SCRAMING ME! The crappy little notification that you get during combat while missioning is instantly covered up by the damage notifications so yo never know before its too late. For the love of god please make a seperate icon or something. Hell, how about a symbol of handcuffs right about your Shield/Armor/Hull hud. Thank god there is insurance to cover up these senselss losses. ------------------

I agree about a better warning that you are being warp scrambled. You already get a notification, it is just hard to read, so this is more of a dodgey part of the interface than a player skill issue. Some polish here would be appreciated.
For the op, EVE info is a good site to use as a 'work around' for the issue. It tells you which ships in missions are jammer ships so you can pop them first.

Instead of/in addition to a notification, there should be something on your "dashboard" that tells you that you are scrambled.
Maybe something like the capacitor lights change color, or something somewhere on the screen that states: "Scrambled: Strength 3" or something like that.

I agree.. those little beggers can catch you out...
I was even scramed by a rat in a belt the other day... hehe
Maybe make the speed indicator bar flash red or something.. adding new stuff to the screen that can be already crowded may be a bit much...

I'm sick of having to look at each little rat in turn to look for the scrambler effect, especially if I am actually in danger of dying. /signed ----------

I think that maybe a red thing to say their firing is good, but y not have a blue bar next to that with a vertical reducing bar from the top and along the top of the ship each type of EM that the ship is using on you.

How about warnings for ALL sorts of status and EW being used on you, big bright icons. We need something, ESPECIALLY in PvP where we need to disable effects so we can actually get a deacent frame rate...

They shud replace that crappy notification in the log with a FLASHING RED ICON - which could be different for each danger - i.e, a skull'n'crossbones when ure warp scrambled, a flashing web when ure webbed and a flashing LOSE icon wen ure jammed/NOS'd --------------------------- My EW suggestions:- EW suggestions |

For ECM and other EW you at least get the little notification with the slider and everything. How about we put one of those in for scrambling? -----------------------------------------------------------

Not a good id, coz then you think you get scrambeld. What the other guy said, the speed indicator could turn red.

Most MMORPG's have some sort of status box where you can see a list of effects currently active on your character. It seems like a high tech space pilot would have some idea that a big glowy beam was zapping his warp drive or that he was being target painted with a giant laser or whatever ;)

I think it would be easiest if there were a list on one side of the screen (or maybe you could movie it around) with scrambling, webbing, ECM, dampening, turret disruption, and target painting. For each module activated on you, a light shows up, except for the scrambling indicator which has a light for each point of scrambling, and the ECM which has that 20 second counter. --------------------- Originally by: Herko Kerghans Nik = win. I think it should be on the Overview. Where you see the red box blinking when the target is firing at you. There should be a small warp scram icon in the corner of that box (I know it's small, but it wouldn't be hard to figure out).
Either that or an entirely new interface. :)

Yes, it needs to be built into the UI.
Yellow to show that scramble mods are active. Red to show that scramble mods have brought your warp core stat below 0 (or 1 or whatever).
Warning lights on the edge somewhere to indicate other kinds of stat modifiers are in effect would be helpful and very attractive to boot. I have room on the top edge, or along the left hand side. Room can easily be made below the bottom middle.
As for tackling npcs, if you see the lights, it's already too late for setups that have trouble anyhow. Shoot them first while they still have low trans, and if you know you will be catapulted on top of them, bring a buddy. Drones are like little buddies, but usually not as good as a friend with turrets at +20km.

This should be put above the ship ui, where it currently says "Warp drive active" etc...
Only that when scrambled, it'd say "Warp Scrambled by: playername, ratname, playername"
etc... So you know who you'll pop first...

Edited by: Thommy on 29/08/2006 19:29:48 Another way could be with targetted ship icones (if effect applies for target), like your guns activated on the target and on the left the effects done by the player / npc.
And for the non targetted ships more clear visual effects as well as status symbols or blinks.
For example: blue blink = webbing yellow blink = sensor jammers red blink wont work so because of the effect allready pressent so an gray blink for warp jamming orange blink = nossing Hmm and an pink blink when eris gets close
Edit: to think about it in some situations it could become quite some blinking mess (aside for allready applied colortags) not sure how this could be formatted well enough.

i think the "status bar" would be quite good but i would say it would be better if you just had a scroling bar of current effects with time left where the timer currently appers or closer to the shild bar crew idea skill calulator in game |

As a work around though you can open the log window to see the message better as it scrolls by.
