Maybe just remove the pirate in game and call them SOE or faction.
They are not pirates. Same as Sansha, and Mordu Legion, and Syndicate, and Krusual.
Recon makes them stronger

Maybe you should read the lore/chronicles, there are some pretty strong indications of soe having ulterior motives
I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Oh the Nestor, where to begin? It is no doubt a beautiful ship, and no doubt more than person thought that "something" was keeping the Nestor from reaching the same potential of her sisters.
The Nestor is rife with modifications and design artifacts done to the hull to accomodate the different design directions SOE took during the Nestor's development, but the number one key purpose of the creation of the Nestor was to create New Eden's first Covert Ops Exploration Battleship. The same technology used to make the Astero and the Stratios possible was employed on the Nestor, including changes to the warp core placement, propulsion systems and performance tweaks in order to reduce the interference with a Covert Ops Cloaking Device with the Nestor's warp cores. The result was an incredebly light, agile and spacious Battleship class vessel capable of traversing wormholes with minimal stability loss done to them.
But the Nestor still couldn't fit a Covert Ops Cloaking Device even after all the modification done to it. A warp core capable of moving a Battleship lets out too much intereference to the cloaking device. So SOE scrapped the idea and invested in transforming the Nestor into a support logistics ship, and instead of starting from scratch, they picked up from where they were and used the heavily modified prototype hull as basis. This allowed it to retain a lot of the work done to the Nestor, including the subsystems borrowed from the Astero and Stratios.
Perhaps what makes the Nestor special is her role as a Master of None ship. Logistics, support, offensive, defensive, exploration. The Nestor is capable of filling a myriad of roles, and it is most famously known as a capable fleet flagship. But it is also sturdy, capable of meshing drones and large laser turrets, and employ them from a distance. Recently the unused shuttle bay (an artifact from the initial attemps to make the Nestor an exploration ship, still visible in the lower deck of the ship) was finaly give a purpose in the form of a maintenance bay, further cementing it's role as a support ship. Still, there are a lot of voices saying the Nestor is still missing something to reach her full potential, and a lot of guess work went to finding that out with no avail.
Trust me, if I had the ISK, the skills, and even a silver of tolerance towards armor tanking, I'd get a Nestor and go on Highsec adventures with it. And the ship is beautiful, even if it underperforms when compared to other Battleships with a smaller price tag.
And this is why the Servant Sisters of EVE are my favourite Pirate Faction. |

SOE needs to build a battle cruiser, just as there is the Ferox - a bigger version of the Moa, or the Drake - a bigger version of the Caracal. SOE need to build a BC - the Ferox, Hurricane, Drake version from SOE!

Oh dear. Did I missed something? My claim was mostly based on observation, since it is the Propel Dynamics logo that's visibly slapped on the side of all SOE ships, they are a corporation speciallized in propulsion and even the engine trail of all SOE ships has the distinct Caldari blue hue.
Plus, I thought Eifyr & Co. was all about boosters and implants. They don't sound like the kind of corporation that dabbles in engines. But if you can toss me a source, I'd to update my fact checks! Can't be a SOE Ship specialist if I can't get my facts straight. |

Can't give you a source/quote, I just vaguely remember having read that, I'm no SoE ship specialist, though I love my Stratios.
I could be entirely wrong, though having minmatar design the propulsion system makes sense as they know how to supercharge an engine to make it go faster. ( aside from painting it red, they have other tricks for it too )
As for what eyfir & Co. do, that's always been a bit of a shrouded mystery.
Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?
