I mean.. thats the second day with the unsheduled dt, so its fair, if you give us something, as a excuse.

I think the word you need here is "compensation", not "excuse". But I still definently do not agree... why would anyone deserve presents when the server has problems? What have we done to deserve that?

I don't know if its happening everywhere, but the lag in the Fountain region has rendered the game virtually unplayable (only 25-30 in local and modules are taking 15-20 seconds to activate, grid takes forever to load with only a few on it, etc).
Time to go enjoy the sun.

Valar:
Thank you for the more technical info. Most services don't seem to get it, but user's aren't all stupid. It does put our minds at ease to hear at least some general behind-the-scenes facts about what's happening to a game we love, more than just an official statement saying "things aren't working, our people are on it, try again later". I truly appreciate CCP's willingness to share this with us.

I am still having problems logging in, etc.
Whatever the problem is, it isn't fixed yet.
We have had a lot of crashes since the last extend maintenance a couple of weeks ago. Maybe the existing problems should be fixed before adding new features, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

I'm pretty annoyed with the server performance. Is the massive lag we're seeing with 40 in local in YZ-LQL related to the server crashes? We're working pretty hard to have a good time, and the server performance is making it impossible.
I hope it gets fixed soon.

We have nothing done to deserve it, but its CCP fault that the Server Crashed, so we as Customer should get somthing. because i think many of us lose his Ship or even cans of mins yesterday. So there should be compensation as a excuse. Just look at all the flame threads here, CCP has todo something, or most of the guys will just leave.
And i really think that a "special" event should do something about it.
P.s: And hell yeah.. i totally suck in English, but i want to give my opinion too...

Look at the activity in other systems in your constellation, is it significantly above average? Look for a big blob in another constellation (as you don't know which ones you're sharing a node with). If you get unlucky and are sharing a node with a fleet battle, you're going to lag even with 1 in your local.

Does 3-4 jumps out take you into a different constellation? If so, you might have been on a different node, which would explain the change in performance.

I'd be very surprised if it did, given that Valar has said he's put fixes for these issues into the patch ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Matthew: there was horrible horrible lag in nearby constellations aswell, and no blobs or fleetbattles going on. YZ-LQL and surrounding systems were absolute trash from friday afternoon-ish, until last night. It was WAY worse than i remember ever before.
Thankfully it seems a little better today, so far.....*knocks on wood* ___________________________ Brutors Rule! My Eve-vids; Click. |

Now, I know nothing about the EVE server in specific, but I can say that on many servers there is a heck of a lot of lag when a server comes up from unscedueled downtime. What happens is that all of the data that these servers keep in RAM usualy gets dumped to a backup drive. That backup drive usualy isn't an ultra-high-speed drive, and so the server tends to be really sluggish.
The best advise that I usualy give to users on any other server is to "wait and see" because if the slowdown is really from the server having to un-cache the data it will work out on its own. Of course, I have no clue how the EVE servers run, if I did I would have a really cool looking icon next to me name and a nice golden box around my posts.
So as usual, this is semi-uninformed speculation drawn from personal expirience and training. CCNA ftw. ------------------------------------------------- Through war we eliminate the weak, through war we develop technology, through war we hone our skills.
